Multiple People Dead After Shooting at Oakland Christian Medical School

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP/The Blaze) — A gunman opened fire Monday at a Christian university in California, killing at least seven people, wounding three more and setting off an intense, chaotic manhunt that ended hours later with his capture at a shopping center, authorities said.
The gunfire erupted around midmorning at Oikos University. Heavily armed officers swarmed the school building in a large industrial park near the Oakland airport. For at least an hour after the shooting began, they believed the shooter could still be at the school.
Television footage also showed bloodied victims on stretchers being loaded into ambulances. Several bodies covered in sheets were laid out on a patch of grass at the school.
Police spokeswoman Cynthia Perkins said seven people were dead. She did not release any other details about the victims.
Myung Soon Ma, the school’s secretary, said she could not provide any details about what happened at the small private school, which serves the Korean community with courses from theology to Asian medicine.
“I feel really sad, so I cannot talk right now,” she said, speaking from her home. “No one can go there because the access is restricted right now.”
Police believe the shooter acted alone, though they have not discussed a possible motive. Those connected to the school, including the founder and several students, described the gunman as a former nursing student.
Officer Johnna Watson said the suspect is an Asian male in his 40s and was taken into custody at a shopping center in the neighboring city of Alameda. Watson would not confirm if he was a student.
Watson said most of the wounded or dead were shot inside the building. The industrial park in which the school is located also includes the county food bank and a local Girl Scouts headquarters.
“It’s a very fluid situation and an active investigation,” Watson said, declining to discuss details of the arrest or a possible motive.
KTVU-TV reported that the shooter was a student and opened fire in a classroom.
Pastor Jong Kim, who founded the school about 10 years ago, told the Oakland Tribune that the shooter was a nursing student who was no longer enrolled. He did not know if the shooter was expelled or dropped out.
Kim said he heard about 30 rapid-fire gunshots in the building.
“I stayed in my office,” he said.
Deborah Lee, who was in an English language class, said she heard five to six gunshots at first. “The teacher said, ‘Run,’ and we run,” she said. “I was OK, because I know God protects me. I’m not afraid of him.”
Angie Johnson told the San Francisco Chronicle that she saw a young woman leave the building with blood coming from her arm and crying: “I’ve been shot. I’ve been shot.”
The injured woman said the shooter was a man in her nursing class who got up and shot one person at point-blank range in the chest before spraying the room with bullets, Johnson said.
“She said he looked crazy all the time,” she said the victim told her, “but they never knew how far he would go.”
According to its website, Oikos University also offers studies in music and nursing. A telephone message left on the university’s main voicemail was not immediately returned.
Jerry Sung, the university’s accountant, said the school offers courses in both Korean and English to less than 100 students. He said the campus consisted of one building. Sung said many of its students went on to work in nursing and ministry.
“The founder felt there was a need for theology and nursing courses for Korean-Americans who were newer to the community,” Sung said. “He felt they would feed more comfortable if they had Korean-American professors.”

We can’t allow to let the guilty lay around for twenty-five or thirty years. If they’re guilty, get rid of them. Let people know that there are consequences for bad behavior.

ALL of these “recent” shootings are being set up by the Administration in order for us to not only allow them to, but beg them to pass a law banning all hand guns and rifles. There are WAY too many of these “random” shootings since the Obama push on banning guns, and I absolutely believe these are being done by people selected and guaranteed some sort of very high payment by “certain members” of the Obama Administration. Just in the months of January until now, the amount of ‘random’ shootings is SO obviously over the top that it screams “agenda”.

I‘m from the Bay Area and it wasn’t even a name I recognized. Had to Google it. Go look at the degrees offerred and you can immediately tell that it won’t have many students in comparsion to even a junior college there.

At some point these schools will have to wake up and decide that physical barriers, choke points, funnels and limited entry/exits combined with metal detectors and armed guards is the only way to end these nightmares. A pretty, warm, open campus is just not worth it anymore.

How do you see that playing out when some immature, late teens, early twenty-something kid open carrying gets dumped in a harsh manner after a class ends and he sees her smiling and joking with another guy a little while later.
Now he’s seeing red, already armed, legally armed and in the heart of a class/school. Care to count the dead?
The last thing we need is a bunch of emotionally unstable, immature, “hormones bouncing off the wall” kids, armed in a densely populated setting. Oh, so…no prob, because several other immature kids will be armed as well and can take him down? And how many extra will be dead from them spraying a classroom or hallway with their “Grand Theft Auto” mentality, trying to take the bad guy down for extra points?

Posted on April 2, 2012 at 3:26pmThat is crazy talk. We all know that universities in California are gun free zones. That means you can’t bring a gun in there. That means that this is impossible and did not happen. All homicidal killers respect gun free zones. After all, there are severe penalties for violating gun free zones.
Even if this was real, you can’t have armed people just carrying their guns anywhere. If you allow guns on campus then mass killings will instantly result. Just like happens every place in the country where guns are allowed on campus….Everybody knows that.
If a mass killing were to happen in a gun free zone, then I would call on California politicians to keep getting tough on gun crime…why they might even pass a law that adds months or years to a sentence for crimes committed in a gun free zone. That would definitely prevent any more of this happening.
