1 Person Shot at Indiana Middle School

MARTINSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — A teenage boy was shot at a central Indiana middle school shortly before classes began Friday and a suspended fellow student is in custody, state police said.

Sgt. Curt Durnil said the victim and suspect are both students at Martinsville West Middle School where the shooting took place. He said he did not know what led to the suspension of the suspect two days earlier.

It was not immediately clear what prompted the shooting in a vestibule area just after 7 a.m., about 20 minutes before classes usually begin, Durnil said.

“We have no motive at all at this point. We’re talking to witnesses and schools officials to get to the bottom of it,” he said.

Durnil said police believe only one shooter was involved in the incident and that they have him in custody, but that all schools in the district remain in lockdown as a precaution. Martinsville is a small city some 30 miles southwest of Indianapolis.

“We’re still looking at all angles, to be sure,” he said.

Durnil has no details of the victim’s condition.

WTHR-TV in Indianapolis said police believe the shooting stems from a dispute that started at a school dance last weekend.

New York had gun laws back in 1927. So what did the kids do ? made zip guns, so much for laws. Teach your kids about gun handling safety, and also to be a responsible person. Bring your kids up Do not THROW them up.

A story like this makes me wonder what kind of home this shooter was raised in. He thought the only recourse he had was to bring a gun to school and shoot the other kid? Maybe he ate too many Crunchberries for breakfast….

Hikinghussie, What a nice thing to say about the Martinsville people, but you should know, you have family here. I live here and resent your statement. Hillbilly redneck heaven. Less crime than Indianpolis, you know, the city. So having family here, what does that make you???

The Indianapolis so-called news outlets are having the time of their lives covering this story. It makes you sick to your stomach. Meanwhile, the wounded youth is in the hospital where, thanks to HIPPA, no information can be released, and the shooter’s identity has been protected.

Martinsville is an old-fashioned little town, county seat of Morgan County (where I lieve).

Criminals will always get their guns from the black market, so there’s no point in attacking the rights of common citizens. Libs are just scared to death of honest people that actually carry both a pistol and a set of principles. Sorry, not everyone can be bought with money and empty promises.

Anyway, may that poor boy have a speedy recovery.

Just tell them the facts – you are 10 times more likely to die from overeating than getting shot (30,000 US deaths from gunshots each year, 300,000 deaths from obesity related illnesses). Out of my cold dead doughnuts.

I shall pray for all that are involved. It is a shame that I have to be thankful that only 1 person was hurt this time. I agree that the majority of youth today have no morals or respect for authority or elders. We have allowed the “government” to program our children into compliant little robots. We must return to local control of local issues. No more 1 size fits all rules from Washington. Return Education to the STATES. If you do not like the way your STATE educates your children, you can move to a better STATE. Under our current method (which isnt working) all education is equally bad.
All they try to do is throw more money at the problem as opposed to fixing things.

Kids shooting other kids. What else could you expect from school systems which have removed all morality training and the basic rules of civility, The Ten Commandments, and replaced them with, “Outcome Based Education”. Outcome Based Education extolls the principle that the end justifies the means and what ever means you use are basically OK if you can get away with it.

We can blame the NEA, the AFT and the other leftists and Communist oriented unions for the fact that the union leadership along with liberal, communist and athestic judges have outlawed the most time honored set of basic rules of civility . Blame can also be placed with the entertainment and video game industry for glorifying violence.

Please pray for the victim and the shooter.
