10 Surprising Facts About Google You Might Want to Know

Odds are you probably visit Google or use one of its services or products everyday. It is the world’s most popular search engine. It is so popular that the very name has become a verb for searching — “Googled”. Can other search engines say that?

But there might be things you still don’t know about Google. The AllTime10s YouTube channel has pulled together 10 Surprising Facts About Google.

What are some of them? We wont’ spoil it but #10 details how much theoretical ad space would cost on the Juggernaut’s front page; #9 explains the origin of the name; and #7 shows what it uses to cut its grass (hint: it’s an animal).

Check them out:

Did any of these really surprise you, worry you, or excite you? Let us know in the comments.

    That was kind of pointless…

    I don’t use google. It keeps track of everything you search, I use duckduckgo.com which is just as precise (if not better) and doesn’t track what you search. I just personally don’t like the idea of them tracking me.

    I guess Yahoo should’ve bought Google back in 1997 for a $1 million dollars. One stock of Google today is worth $615.51.

      No matter what ISP you use, you are dealing with Google.

    I use DuckDuckGo.com as my homepage.
    Clean search page, they don’t track or bubble (whatever that is) you.
    You can add it to firefox also, the option for that is on the bottom right of their page. On the bottom left of the page is their privacy policy as compared to others.
    When you search for stuff, it lets you scroll down and down, without having to click on page numbers. When it exhausts it’s search, it provides a auto-link for you to click on to go to either google or Bing.

    I use Pale Moon, 64 bit version (there is a 32 bit version too) browser instead of FireFox, or Window Internet Explorer.

      Hi MONK, LOL, I’ll be in touch about that one. As for PEST_PATRIOT’s guess on the conservatives, boycott is generally the tool of the left. But, we have on some occasions we have seen such suggestions here. But, if you ever read, hear, or see anything about actual boycott attempts, you can bet your ass that it will be a bunch of left wing loons.
      As for Google, I do a lot of hobby research regarding military history, vehicles, equipment, uniforms, tactics and techniques. I’ve noticed that over the years that Google in particular has filtered out a lot of sites. I can usually pick these up on Bing, but even these days that is no longer a given. Generally, I use three search engines to help find what each other misses. I have no plan to dump Google, and really rely on Google Chrome a lot. I use Google SketchUp too. Both very handy tools.

      No, liberal hacks are the ones that always want to boycott everyone and everything. Just look at Glenn and Rush and how often the left attempt’s to boycott them for something they said. The left hates freedom of speech even thought they often hide behind it. The only time they tout freedom of speech is if they agree with the message. BTW, you should use just the portion of your horse photo that’s missing. It will more clearly show where your “logic” comes from.

      BEST_PATRIOT, Again, do you just use that turd in your head to keep your ears separated? I said that I use three search engines. I also said that I heavily rely on Google Chrome. Its when I can’t find sites that I knew were there earlier, then I will go to Bing. But, even Bing is not fully trustworthy. After all, they are part of Microsoft. To me, Google Chrome is the easiest and faster to enter than Explorer, and when I am looking primarily for reference photos, or pics Chrome gives me a larger format to study. When I can’t find something with Chrome I will go to either of the next two.

      @Best_Patriot

      The major difference between you commies and us when it comes to boycotting something is this;

      You guys make a big to-do about it, hold protests carrying signs and threaten other companies telling them that they better go along with you OR ELSE!

      We simply switch products in a more quite way. I do not allow Google on my computer. I do use it when troubleshoot a computer that does use Google. When I switched from Pepsi to Coke-a-Cola when I was a teenager I didn’t boycott Pepsi; they simply lost my business.

      That’s why a know I was not raised a commie like you. It’s natural for commies to boycott and protest violently. It’s natural for us to just walk away quietly.

      Hard to take anything a liberal with the name “Best Patriot” says seriously. I mean you‘re already so out of touch with reality you actually think you’re a patriot, how can anything you say possibly be taken seriously. See, when I think of liberalism, right after “mentally handicapped”, I think of other accurate descriptors like “terrorist”, “anti-American“ and ”treasonous”.

      Liberalism in 1 sentence: That mentally handicapped, Anti-American terrorist, so frequently guilty of treason, actually thinks he’s a patriot! lol.
