Police in California say they don’t know what killed an 11-year-old girl who died following an afterschool fight in an alley with another girl her age.
Authorities said Friday’s fight, which was planned ahead of time and lasted less than a minute, didn’t appear especially serious or violent. No weapons were involved, Long Beach Deputy Chief Robert Luna said, and “we believe nobody was knocked to the ground.”
Still, he said the cause of fifth-grader Joanna Ramos’ death remains “undetermined,” the Los Angeles Times reported.
Luna said Joanna returned to an afterschool program at Willard Elementary School following the confrontation but said she wasn’t feeling well. Her family took her to the hospital where she later underwent emergency surgery, the Associated Press reported. Six hours after the fight, she was dead.
“She was crying and her head was hurting,” Ramos’ classmate Justin Robert King Jr told Los Angeles ABC affiliate KABC-TV.
Police have not made any arrests, the Long Beach Press-Telegram reported, though they have interviewed the other girl involved in the fight. Luna said about seven onlookers watched the altercation and they have been interviewed as well.
Authorities wouldn’t say what sparked the fight, though students told the newspaper it was over a boy. Others said bullying is a problem at the school, but police wouldn’t say whether Joanna had been a target.
“We are still trying to put the pieces of this puzzle together,” Luna said.

Posted on February 26, 2012 at 5:10pmDidn’t say, but I would bet the other girl was black. There seems to be a natural animosity between the races. All this diversity training isn’t setting well down at the grass roots level. You can thank your government and the teacher’s unionfor all this chaos in the government schools. Home school your children, if you can.

Posted on February 26, 2012 at 6:36pmThis and other girl on girl fights is a direct result of raising girls to be more like boys by pushing girls to spend a great deal of time in sports. The country was a much better place when girls played with dolls and played house. Plus, when girls were raised to learn to sew, knit, cook etc. they grew up with useful skills to help their families. How many men want their wife to kick a soccer ball around the park at night when the entire family is starving and mom has no household skills at all? Women‘s liberation was a hoax to destroy the American family and it has succeeded beyond anyone’s imagination.

It is a well known fact that Long Beach is the 4th largest Port City and there are thousands of longshoremen, stevedores and roughnecks living there with their families. Many of these working persons are Union Members – and you can be sure they are ready and able to use “saps” and brass knuckles when they meet for their “prearranged alleyway altercations” like this poor child did.

Posted on February 26, 2012 at 1:14pmActually I blame the parents and other adult authorities for the way our children are today. In 5th grade I didn’t have time to get into fights. I had activities I chose to do after school, including delivering 150+ newspapers, mowing lawns during summer, raking leaves during fall, shovelling snow during the winter, and doing spring clean-up during that season. I liked making money, and being able to control buying things like model car kits, having more than one bicycle, and a lot more. Things were tough after my dad died when I was 6 yo, and I out of what I earned I contributed to helping us pay the rent and buy food. I was part of a family, and as a part of the family we all pulled together to help when and where we could. I was still in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, athletic teams, and I kept up with my schoolwork. We all pitched in and made sure we took care of the household chores, and we all worked and played hard, and attended church every Sunday and Wednesday night.

Posted on February 26, 2012 at 11:24amIf this happened during time these kids were under the auspices of the school, that school is in BIG TROUBLE, as well they should be.
For TOO LONG the schools have tried to walk a ridiculous fenceline of a “no fault” approach to conflicts between students in an effort to NOT define Morality. This is the result of their strange combination of Political Correctness, (actually establishing a Moral Code), and Moral Relativism, (eschewing the definition of Right and Wrong).
The result is that the schools have a confused mass of students trying to figure out WHAT the standards are, which, in this and all cases ends up being whatever you can get away with. Put that together with whatever slackers were supposed to be supervising these kids and, there you go.
What a TRAGEDY that for this girl’s family the result is not just a fleeting, bad memory.

Report Post »The kids are of an age that they get caught up in the emotion and ego of being right, they will fight because every little thing effects them emotionally.
If the parents are caught up in their own wants and needs, the kids are ignored, and end up kind of wild, fighting for their own wants and needs. The parents of the girl that started the fight probably had no idea where she was, what she doing.
This ignorance of ones’ own children has been going on way longer than many people realize

During the few years that my kids were in school instead of home schooled the public school called it “even” until someone took a swing, even when my 5′2″ , 90 pound daughter was being harrassed by groups of guys. The school simply DID NOT want to deal with it! That was the LAST STRAW for me, and redoubled my commitment to keeping my kids at home, where at least we taught that the is a RIGHT and WRONG! For all anyone knows, this child could have had a brain aneurysm that went when she was jostled around. And it could have gone if she tripped over the curb in the driveway at home.
Regardless, pulling a gun or a weapon for a hair pulling match, or a “get out of my face” tussle would be over the top. Those who carry know it’s only used for deadly force when you fear for your life. This doesn’t sound like that at all.

They lured my son into the woods to kick his butt for somethibg that supposedly happened at school he got away and told me and I went down to the house where they all were confronted the kid who started it and then went down and talked to his mother, she was furious with him and took care of him when I left two fathers of kids stopped me o the road running there mouths and we had a heated conversation one of them called my son a little *****, my boy grabbed my arm as I was going to shut it for him and then I took a deep breath and worked through the mess like an adult and showed them they were idiots the one guy and me left with an understanding that we will keep an eye on stuff and keep these children under wraps, loudmouth kept silent and stayed far away. The police went and talked to the boy that started it and all the other kids that were there. They found cell phone video of the incident with two girls that were there. The lod mouth dad got an invitation from me in front of everybody to come see me anytime if he still has a problem. The point is that for some reason kids today have a pack mentality and no sense of right and wrong. It is a shame that this stuff happens and the parents of most of these kids do not know it is happening either by choice or ignnorance and things like this can lead to much bigger things. It pains me that a child dies because others do not know how to act.

I was providing feedback to the Blaze that maybe they would want to cover who supports world govt and would be likely to use US dollars to bail out the EU socialist failures vs regurgitating the AP.
I think as a blaze reader I have a right to express my opinion and if you don’t like opinions maybe you should just not come to the site.
Yes I figure Ron Paul is not for signing over US sovereignty over to the UN, however my point was I do not know where Rick Santorum, Mitt Romney or Newt Gingrich would do.
I’d guess Rick would say no since he wants to rule the world.
Romney I would say will play along with world govt – in fact I’m guessing the reason that he has 30x the money of the other candidates is that the world govt people are funding him.
Newt probably would go along with it to position himself as a world leader, but I’m not clear.
There, now wouldn’t it be nice if we actually had some reporting on this topic (with facts) vs. my speculation or vs. news articles that were on google news 4 hours before The Blaze copied them over.
