13-year-old Jeremy Wuitschick saved the day on Monday after the driver of his school bus had a seizure at the wheel.
“The bus driver’s coming up to this turn near the school and he starts acting all funny,” he recalled. “His eyes [were] bulging and he [was] twitching in the chair.”
Quick on his feet, the boy sprang to action, taking the wheel from the driver and steering the bus to safety on the side of the road. Though he won’t be able to drive legally for another three years, Wuitshick doesn’t seem to hesitate.
Watch the incredible video, below:
“I was just thinking, `I don’t want to die,’” Wuitschick said. “I turned to the right. Turned to the side of the road. Took the keys out of the ignition. We started slowing down, and I said, `Somebody call 911!’”
After the bus came to a safe stop, Wuitshick got the door open and the students used their phones to call the authorities. The driver was taken to the hospital by paramedics soon after, but is still in grave condition.
The bus did not hit any other vehicles, and all of the students were unharmed.
“We’re just happy the kid was thinking on his feet,” Police Chief Bill Rhoads said.

Posted on April 11, 2012 at 12:50amDidn’t they have some background on this driver?? This can’t be the first seizure he ever had. What did his physical show when he got the job, or wasn’t there some reporting of his condition if it was developed during his job.
Liked the kid’s low voice. He is a man already. Here we have a real example of manhood. Way to go.

Posted on April 10, 2012 at 8:14pmThis was an outstanding act, but unfortunately, the education system is trying to destroy individual thinking action or attitude so as to fit into ‘the new world order’, luckily, they have missed this kid so far.

Posted on April 10, 2012 at 5:08pmThere are more things that can cause siezures, from being a diabetic (Type II you can still drive passengers) to what’s called a Fever Rise Siezure (this happened to my daughter) and many things in between…
