Celebrating Halloween in 1938
The Farm Security Administration (FSA) was created during the Great Depression to assist poor farming families. Shaftner Camp for Migrants in California is an example of one of these settlements for Dust Bowl refugees. These photos show how the families celebrated Halloween in 1938.

Posted on November 1, 2011 at 10:21pmI agree with the sentiments voiced above, but do want to point out this: Unfortunately, the food we eat today is a far cry from the food those folks ate.
Please understand that I am a capital “C” Conservative, and it was hard for me to accept in some ways but, our food industry today is what is making our kids fat and sick. It is not the quantity, but the quality.
Read the labels and educate yourself: Two ingredients you will find in almost everything are high fructose corn syrup and soy — cheap fillers that add taste. Processed foods have horrible additives and virtually no nutrition when compared to the “real” foods our parents and grandparents ate.
Well, I won’t rant here too much, but one of the reasons there were very few “fatties” until the last 25 years or so is because ADM, ConAgra, Monsanto, Tyson, federal bureaucrats and elected officials did not openly conspire to feed us “faux food.”
But..as Glenn says, “Don’t believe me, do your own research.”
Start with “A Life Unburdened,” by Richard Morris. *Wonderful* book and a great primer. Then, read “Everything I Want to Do is Illegal,” by Joel Salatin.
My best to you all…

Posted on November 2, 2011 at 8:52amI guess when youre hungry and there are no food stamps and welfare, white people will do migrant farm labor. End the welfare system amd enforce current immigration laws, and many of this countries problems, especially financial, crime and illegal immigration.

Posted on November 1, 2011 at 3:58pmThere are a few smiling adults, but ya no smiling children. And notice how none of them are overweight? There wasn’t enough food to eat, so nobody got fat. But I bet some of them went hungry from time to time! If that’s the libs idea of keeping fit, it is really sick. By the time the libs realize that the idiocy they are spouting will one day be used on THEM AND THEIR OWN FAMILIES, it will be too late. Morons… all of them.

Posted on November 2, 2011 at 8:57amThese pics are probably from here in the California San Joaquin Valley. The Grapes of Wrath was 20 miles from me. The federal water from the Ca Delta has been cut off and CA farmers ar being denied water for thier fields. This valley used to feed the nation. Now we buy from China , Mexico, Peru, and ??? instead of groming it ourselves. 40% unemployment and furrowed fields in Fresno County. Thanks Bover Feinstein, Pelosi, and Costa.

Posted on November 1, 2011 at 7:07amE-gads….can you imagine someone putting on black face and being vaudville characters in today’s time of political correctness? I remember in the late 60′s still having the plastic faces that went with store bought costumes.
