2 Days to Print and 50 Hours to Read: GOP Will Recite Entire Spending Bill on Senate Floor

It took two days to print and it will take even longer to read.

According to The Hill, Senate Republicans are going through with a plan to have the entire omnibus spending bill read on the Senate floor, a feat that won’t be completed for 50 hours. Republicans have vowed to vote against the 1,924-page, $1.1 trillion bill that is loaded with billions in earmarks.

“Senate clerks are expected to read the massive bill in rotating shifts around the clock — taking breaks to drink water and pop throat lozenges  — to keep legislative business on track, according to a Democratic leadership aide,” The Hill reports.

That would mean any Senate business would be stalled until Saturday evening.

“If they bring this up, they’re going to read it. It’ll take them a day or two to read it,” Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC), who’s been pushing for the recitation, told Fox News. “Again, we’re trying to run out the clock. They should not be able to pass this kind of legislation in a lame-duck Congress.”

“To suggest that we can dual-track an issue as important as the funding of the government with this almost 2,000-page, $1 trillion-plus bill at the same time that we are seriously debating the START treaty is a fantasy,” Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ) told reporters Wednesday.

Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) responded by blaming Republicans for dragging their feet.

“The irony, the hypocrisy of us sitting here with them standing up and saying ‘Oh my Gosh, it’s the last minute,’ ” Kerry told The Hill. “It’s the last minute because they haven’t let us do anything. The game plan is usually to keep preventing things from happening.”

If John Kerry’s eyes could sink back any farther into his skull, he‘d make the perfect zombie for the next movie and he wouldn’t need any make up. What a worthless SOB!

Kerry’s the perfect elitist – he’s wealthy beyond belief, he’s arrogant and he cares not one iota about the American People – and not to mention the most important ingredient of being an elitist is that he is sour as hell on life – he hates life. So, his mission is to bring every well-adjusted American down to “his” or “their” level.

I am sure of one thing, it is going to get nasty. And, it needs to. Hold on gang, and buckle up for the rollercoaster ride and the head on collisions that are bound to happen.

Then, a good solid reporting of exactly what the monstrosity says. Then vote no, shut down the government, wait till the new congress begins so we can start managing our country as the small business man/women manages their enterprise.

You guys really want the government to default on loans? That is what happens when the govt shuts down. Then maybe our treasuries get lowered in safety (AAA to AA) which would then cause the debt to increase. People, American people, not just foreign governments buy American T-bills. If you have a pension or 401k YOU likely have them. If the US defaults it will impact you…do you not realize this?

Yes tea bag – we know.

It‘s how we know you’re not one of us – see, we all got copies of the “code” and pictures of the secret handshake when we joined our local tea party.

By the way moron – how much of your income, your childs income, and your grandchildrens income do you think the now $13 trillion dollars of NEW spending will be appropriated to pay for the programs they’ve ALREADY passed?

At the risk of giving away the decoder ring – we know the government will default on loans. We know which ones it will default on first.

So do your leftist minders, it’s why they crammed the bill full of the very thing they were voted out of office for…massive, uncontrolled, unfunded spending.

So they can blame the R’s for massive deficits.

Deficits can come from cutting funds while continuing programs – but the way THIS leftist dominated group has achieved it is by spending more than was ever imagined on things wage earners already have access to.

The issue is not IF the government will default, but WHEN will it default.

Let me decode it further for you – if this “porkulous II” spending bill is NOT passed – do you think the government WON’T default, anyway?

How exactly does a government default, anyway? Do you think we’ll mortagage the statue of liberty, the White House, or the consititution?

Emphasis on MORON” (PS, don’t get offended, remember, that’s code…)

Poplui – why doesn’t it suprise me that you are home on a work day…see I think the tax cuts COULD be a good idea IF and only IF we reduce spending. The idea that we can continue to spend the way we are AND cut taxes is absurd. So now we have cut taxes, now what? If you ask the R‘s they’ll tell you that they are going to stop earmarks (by putting earmarks IN the bill and then voting against it). But wait, Earmarks don’t actuall cost anything…you see the amount in the bill is determined FIRST and then earmarks occur…so eliminating them do nothing. So what will you and rest of your teabagging friends cut? Why don’t Reps actually propose something?

How does a government default? Are you kidding…look at Greece these days. We will default by Moodys downgrading our t-bills. You don’t think China just lends us money, right? They buy treasuries, these securities have a fixed rate of return at AAA rating..that changes when they are down graded, we’ll owe more. And what do you think happens when the largest economy in the world starts to default?

You should just wipe the pudding off of your shirt and turn on Jerry Springer, it will be easier for you to follow.

I have to agree, but if they want a 2,000-page bill to be passed, maybe they’d actually like to avoid the Pelosi Conundrum of passing a bill before reading it.

And on that note, has anyone read the healthcare bill? I’d bet a hundred that it follows the same pattern of margins that take up half the page, huge fonts, and double spacing. I get the Repubs forcing the reading of the bill but I do not think that WE the People get it was both Dems AND repubs both requesting earmarks…BOTH PARTIES are guilty

So one must ask why Repubs are doing this display of stalling when they had requested earmarks…that does not seem honest…Say what you mean, mean what you say….

Any Repub voting for this should and will be held accountable….

Let‘s hope the readers are products of public schools and can’t read above a third-grade level. That should keep it going until the lame ducks are gone!

      .
This ****** me off who in the hell do they think they are NOT reading this bill and cramming it down our throats. The earmarks “pork” attached to this bill is overwhelming and if they think pushing this thru advances their progressive agendas, then they have under estimated the American people, next election we will turn the house upside down until every maggot is declared a commie maggot!

Extending the Bush tax cut 2 years will do nothing, it needs to be made permanent or small business will stay stagnated “guaranteed”!

They crammed a year’s worth of work that only took six people three weeks to collect enough BS spending and payoffs to break America financially once & fore all, and they want a vote in three days.WTF kind of place as America transformed into over the past two years?

All these crack heads are doing is reaching into our vile of stash and taking for themselves to smoke. But what kills you is they aren‘t using the stuff for it’s intended purpose. No, they are using it for their own agenda. They‘ll say it’s for [all those earmarks] but it will wind up in several different campaign funds. That’s what these Democraps do is stash money for the next election,Whether it be local or National. I hope they all rot in HELL!

      in 2003 and 2004 bush/his congress sent up a 3000 page bill.
notice that the cost for bush’s wars are included in this budget?

bush didn’t have the guts to include that inconvenient item in his budgets.
he used supplemental appropriations to fund his and cheney’s illegal romp in the desert.

      Lets’s see now…………

      Stimulas bill – 2700 pages
Health Care bill – 2700 pages
Tax and unemployment extention bill – 2000 pages

Does anyone other than myself wonder what they are actually implimenting that would take 7400 pages to explain? Keep in mind this only covers three bills…..how many thousands of other regulations has our trusted public servants placed on us? Seems as though the American people should start to be just a little bit curious. I think it’s about time we did some serious auditing.

Republicans have the top 2 earmarks. Mitch McConnel is #8. WTF? Watching the panel on the Fox Report now discuss it. Curious to see what Krauthammer has to say.

Government printing office huh? That’s the first thing I would shut down. Let those slack-jawed mopes go to kinkos or office max to get this kinda stuff printed like the rest of us do. How many copies of this piece of garbage were printed at our expense? And how many bills like this one, that never get passed, are printed and duplicated and then thrown away? Shut it down and shut it down now….these senators make enough $$$ to get thier own printing done!!!! LOL
