2 Men Arrested in NYC Terror Probe — May Have Targeted Synagogue

NEW YORK (The Blaze/AP) — A law enforcement official tells The Associated Press that two men are in custody in an investigation that may be related to terrorism in New York City.
The official would not give further details about the charges the men face. The official wasn’t authorized to speak about the matter publicly and spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity.
The New York Times and WNBC-TV report that the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office plans to release further details about the men later Thursday.
According to London’s Daily Mail, the men are “homegrown” terrorists who were planning to attack a synagogue:
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of plotting a terrorist attack as they tried to buy guns, a grenade and other weapons, it has emerged.
One of the men, understood to be an U.S.-born Muslim from the Queens area of New York, is said to have bragged about his plan to attack a synagogue moments before police swooped.
The man, who is believed to have a record of drugs convictions, was allegedly trying to sell narcotics to finance the weapons purchase.
The men, both said to be ‘homegrown’ and of North African descent, were intercepted by anti-terror officers in New York late last night, police sources said.
New York City police have been on high alert for threats to the city since the U.S. raid that killed al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden over a week ago.

Its organized doctrine is sufficient to show that it’s a religion. In fact, Islam is a religion that is a collectivistic political cult, too, as is Judaism.
Also, it’s naive to suppose that removal of Islam from the USA will reduce terrorism, for most terrorism is carried out by government. Even your precious SCOTUS is financed through terrorism. Recall now that the attacks on 9/11 were carried out against communism at (1) the airports, (2) the WTC, and (3) the Pentagon. There were no innocent people killed that day, at least none of which I’m aware. The people in those airplanes, in the WTC, and the Pentagon were all dirty. Even the many firemen killed were communists.
Sure, Islam is problem, but the hysteria in N. America about Islam is basically just a distraction for fools. The IRS, for example, is terroristic threat that’s far more grave than the Muslims, who are a small minority, anyway, and fully aware of their precarious position. And who would you have remove the Muslims? The government?? That would aggrandize its powers. If you are a rightwing conservative, however, you’d probably turn a blind eye to that, as rightwingers usually do when government’s nefarious activities suit their tastes and preferences.
A better strategy for combatting Islam is to attack its theology and the collection of rantings called the Koran.

SERIOUS QUESTION FOR CHRISTIAN PREPPERS: I’m having a hard time trying to figure something out. There are several (most actually) people in my family and ‘inner circle’ who think I’m a little nuts for preparing to survive in the event of one of these events or attacks that disable the nation. Some actually mock me and at best look at me like they are enduring my conversations about buying extra food etc, only to humor me. However, I’m convinced that these will be the first people to show up at my door when the SHTF. So, here’s my serious question: has anyone else who is experiencing the same type of situation made a decision or thought about what you would do in that event – turn them away or take them in?

Local malls, restaurants, theatres and other places where people congregate in numbers. Many small town cops are not trained to intercept recognize or even infiltrate such groups.
The citizens of America MUST remain alert. It ain’t going to be easy. These terrorists will blend into the population and seem like regular Americans, even though they are immigrints. They will hold jobs, rent or own homes, in many cases have families, attend their church or mosque of choice attend local events and do everything to blend into the communities they live in. They will appear for the most part as regular folks.
WOW! what a conundrum. We must remain alert and look out for suspicious activities and yet we don’t want to be preceived an spies or nosy neignbors minding others business. I know the Constitution says freedom of religion, but I would classify Islam as more of a political movement and a cult, than a religion. I think it’s time the SCOTUS defines religion as peaceful way of life, that doesn’t denigrate their women and female children. Uses their God to promote the well being of others in need and tolerates other religions.

Just wow. “I think it’s time the SCOTUS defines religion as peaceful way of life, that doesn’t denigrate their women and female children.”…..yeah that sounds like smaller government to me I‘m sure the founding fathers would’ve been all over that one. Are you sure you’re not just a progressive for your own agenda? I think you both need to take a good long look in the mirror and reevaluate your belief system. Radical Islam is a problem. It’s not one that will be solved by making bigoted comments about ridding the country of Islam as a whole. (Isn’t that what radical Islam wants to do to all other religions?) You make life really difficult for young conservatives who then have to explain comments like yours to my predominantly liberal friends. You make conservatives seem like a big horde of crotchety old bigots and that’s not exactly attractive to my generation.
