2008 Video Surfaces of Gingrich Supporting Health Care Mandate

Earlier today, we brought you the 2006 memo in which Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich voiced his approval of the health care legislation Mitt Romney passed as governor of Massachusetts. Now a video from just three years ago has resurfaced of Gingrich touting the need for an individual health insurance mandate for all Americans.
“The third thing I think you have to do, which is for a conservative a little controversial, is I think you’ve got to require everybody to either have insurance or to post a bond,” Gingrich said in 2008 speaking at the Alegent Health Clinic in Nebraska. Read Alegent‘s press release from Gingrich’s 2008 visit here.
The former Speaker went on to explain that it is “immoral” for someone to gamble with their health care.
Gingrich expressed similar views just this year. “I agree that all of us have a responsibility to pay–help pay for health care. And, and I think that there are ways to do it that make most libertarians relatively happy. I’ve said consistently we ought to have some requirement that you either have health insurance or you post a bond,” he said on “Meet the Press” in May.

Posted on December 27, 2011 at 7:14pmThis is truly shocking the progressive is in favor of socialized medicine who would of thought.Romney‘s just as bad with his version of government health care but hey he’s got the perfect hair and Mr.game show host smile.Just like a carnival barker, step right up suckers and vote for me I‘ll guarantee everyone’s covered no matter what condition you’re in.The best part is it‘s ’free‘ won’t have to pay a nickle, this is the BS Mitt Newt and Barry lay down for the suckers, problem is the few people still working will have to pay for all that ‘free’ health care.
If you think health care was expensive before you won‘t believe what it’ll cost when it‘s ’free’.When government takes over the health care business two things will happen, the cost will go up dramatically and the quality of care will go down.Just like Milton Friedman said ‘If the government was in charge of the Sahara desert it would be free of sand in five years.

Posted on December 27, 2011 at 6:07pmThere is a dirty little secret here that no one wants to talk about. When an illegal alien or a destitute person goes to the E.R., guess who pays? The patients who have insurance or money pay the bills. Hospitals do a budget just like any other business, and once the have a total annual operating cost, they factor in the amount that they will lose, due to none payment. If that number is 20% of the total cost, they add 30+% to the total. When you go in the hospital, they charge you 30% more than the actual cost, plus profit: so you and/or your insurance company pick up the tab for the dead beats of the world.
So what’s the problem with makingt people buy insurance or post a bond? Nothing, as long as they stick to the rules and enforce a “no insurance or cash bond – no treatment” policy in the healthcare community.
Report Post »Otherwise, we Taxpayers will be stuck paying for everyone’s healthcare…forever.

A Mitt Romney versus Barack Obama face off is a dream-come-true for those who want to keep the Big Government, big spending status quo in Washington, D.C.
Both have made talking out of both sides of their mouth a virtual art form.
Both agreed on the outrageous $700 BILLION TARP bailout.
Both support individual mandates and have crafted strikingly similar Big Government health care schemes – “RomneyCare” and “ObamaCare.”
Both have cozied up to the radical “global warming” crowd.
Both support outrageously expensive “stimulus” packages and the utopian trillion-dollar nation-building schemes that are bankrupting our country.
That’s why Republican voters have been desperately searching for a candidate who can take on and defeat BOTH establishment darlings Barack Obama and Mitt Romney.

Posted on December 27, 2011 at 5:24pmVechorik, I’m afraid you consistently either forget or choose to not realize the health care law Romney put into effect was for Massachussetts only, not the nation. In a debate, ALL Romney has to say in response to Obummer is he overstepped the constitution. Romney, however, was well within his rights/power as governor of a state to try and find a solution to a STATE problem. Here, Gingrich is proposing a health care law for the entire nation, something Romney has never done nor has he supported. Romney would school Obama in a debate and would absolutely come off the winner. Now, don‘t get mad with what I’m about to say. Dr. Paul has some great ideas-some things that need to be and should be implemented. But, he just isn’t a candidate that the independents, moderates and disaffected democrats will take the effort to support–and those are the folks who will elect the president. I don’t think Dr. Paul is considered a ‘likeable’ guy, and therefore will not get out the vote for himself. This election is all about getting rid of Obama and moving our country back to the center-right where we belong. Romney is a guy who can do that while pulling in a majority of the electorate. Not a perfect guy but one who is electable and who will beat Obama!

This is only because of the middle east. It would be different if it was just china and Russia. Paul like most people don’t understand the middle east/Islams. Islam is what is dangerous and what we should worry about.
