Posted on August 31, 2010 at 10:24pmWhy stop calling it GZM? It’s certainly at GZ as a piece of the plane hit the building. Of course it’s at GZ.
That said, we should be calling it ‘Cordoba Over GZ’. ‘Cordoba’ is what the imam is calling his project, ‘Cordoba’ is the historical context the imam is projecting for NYC, and ‘Cordoba’ is exactly how this project is perceived by Muslims all over the world. Whether this project gets built or not, the fact that NYC is not allowing the church that was at GZ to be rebuilt, nor are the monuments to capitalism that once stood proud going to be rebuilt any time soon if at all, are testament to the supremacy of Islam as far as Muslims around the world are concerned. We’re cowards.

Posted on August 31, 2010 at 8:20amTo net out what proves this Imam is dangerous – his comments legitimize the existence of Al Qaeda…to state he wants to ‘repair our relations’ implies he views them as a legitimate organized group. Why won’t he condemn them or Hezbollah? I’d take no issue with him condemning the Klan or Timothy McVeigh…why not these terror groups that do not deserve ‘a bridge’ or ‘reconciliation’.
I believe all citizens have the duty to protect the constitution from ALL ENEMIES, foreign AND DOMESTIC…I smell a domestic enemy.

Posted on August 31, 2010 at 1:39amThe Muslims planned to go to Tours to destroy the Church of St. Martin, the city, and the whole country. By the grace of Our Lord, we wrought a great slaughter upon the enemies of Christian faith, so that, as history bears witness, we slew in that battle 300,000 men, likewise their king by name Abderrahman. And what was the greatest marvel of all, we only lost in that battle 1500 men. The tents and harness of the enemy were taken; and whatever else they possessed became a prey to us. Eudes, Duke of Aquitaine, being now reconciled with us,, later slew as many of the Saracens as he could find who had escaped from the battle.

Posted on August 30, 2010 at 10:37pmThis imam doesn’t respect or recognize individual liberties that US citizens have. He wants to frame everything from a radical islamist’s context. He presents a serious threat, because he will do anything to impose sharia, he refuses to engage in a true dialogue, because he doesn’t want a two way conversation. He wants only to dictate, and until he is informed that what he wants isn’t allowed in the US, because it would violate the constitutional rights of all US citizens, he will continue to push.

Posted on August 30, 2010 at 10:11pmTheir so-called religion’s foundation is Sharia Law. Islam is a way of life dictated by Sharia Law. We have to stop this from embedding further into our country. It is not a freedom of religion issue. It is a Sharia Law vs our Constitution, Declaration of Independence and our laws. AIG already has Sharia Finance. Their charity is limited to Muslims only. We have to wake up.

Posted on August 30, 2010 at 11:35pmThe projection of Islam beyond the religious into the demand for application of Sharia — within their own communities or beyond — is indeed anathema to the Constitution. The inability or unwillingness of our leaders to rightfully call out an enemy of the state (an enemy of the Constitution is by definition an enemy of the state) is reprehensible. Leaders that allow or invite enemies to establish enclaves on our soil should be impeached for dereliction of their duty to their oath of office.

Posted on August 30, 2010 at 11:19pmI get your point, but no one is ‘stopping’ them. They legally have the right to build on their property and they’ll probably still do it. However, they are having a cultural response directed at them, and that is appropriate.
Freedom goes in both directions. You are free to speak and your audience is free to respond in kind. In this instance, they‘re stepping into a hornet’s nest of feeling with the vast majority of the American population. This is a religion that is constantly calling for sensitivity toward itself. However, the ‘sensitivity’ of our people with regards to 9/11 is bonedeep for many and is something that people are not willing to forgo for the sake of ..well, pretty much almost anything.
For 9/11 wasn’t just something that happened to New York, it happened to our entire nation. A shocking national tragedy that is still vivid in the hearts and minds of our people. To tell us to look beyond it is basically to tell another ‘this is how you get to grieve and for how long’.
Uh, NO. Not with this, not this time. THIS time, our sensitivity trumps theirs. For the bottomline is, MOST of us don’t care if they build a mosque, they care WHERE they’re trying to build this mosque.
Not where it can cast a shadow on Ground Zero. Not with an imam that gives lip service to ‘bridge building’. Not when they’re not transparent about backing and funding, and now certainly not when you’ve got the wife of that same iman, literally calling 71% of the American public who are against this mosque ‘bigots’ for opposing it. If they were really that sensitive, they would have known the answer to this question before they even asked it and they wouldn’t sling perjoratives.
Relationships are a two way street. Compassion and empathy would and should be what they would have to offer in order to model what they say is their mission. So far, they’re failing grandly in that regard. And every unfortunate comment made by them, solidify my initial reaction of ‘no’. No, heck no, hell no. Again, they may go ahead and do this anyway, but under the circumstances, it’s not an auspicious beginning.
Here’s the other deal, if the mosque was built with glowing support, those in the Islamic world that already oppose us as a country would say ‘see how stupid they are?’ and use THAT.
Either way, they’re going to spin it so that we look bad.

I don’t care if they literally despise the ground that I walk on, and that my every waking moment is in violation of their principles. As a woman, in their world, I would violate 10 principles of their belief system within the first 15 minutes of my day, let alone the rest of my life. Ergo, there can be no reconiciliation. Their head is in a 6th century mindset and there would be nothing that I could willingly do to satisfy them.

Posted on August 30, 2010 at 9:28pmShould we even be calling Islam a religion?
Calling Islam a religion is rather absurd if you stop and think about it for a moment. A Chrysler has a transmission component to it but you don’t call a Chrysler a transmission; you call it a car. Likewise, Islam has a religious component to it, but with Islam the religious component is only one of many components [theological, political, social, judicial, military, etc], and NOT the most important component at all as the MOST important component can be summed up as DOMINATION OR ELSE, so Islam should properly be called a Totalitarian System, not a religion. This is so simple. It’s logic 101. Nazism, another Totalitarian System, had a religious component to it too, albeit one arguably smaller than Islam, but I have never heard anyone call it a religion. Winston Churchill even equated Islam and Nazism, when in his book The Gathering Storm he equated Hitler‘s Mein Kampf with Mohammad’s Koran. Religion is just a skirt, or burka if you will, that the Totalitarianism that is Islam hides it’s evil [women stonings, honor killings, gay hangings, 100 lashes, etc ad nauseam] behind. That skirt should be pulled off. Totalitarianism should not be allowed to hide behind religion.
Back in the 1800′s it was Southern culture, almost religion, to have human beings as property. Did those in the North say, “Hey it’s their culture, so we most be tolerant of it and any who are not tolerant of it are intolerant bigoted Southernophopes?” Of course they didn’t as they were intelligent enough and moral enough not to think that or say that. Why are so many so stupid and/or morally bereft today, such as
Report Post »the schlamiel Bloomberg, when it comes to tolerating Islam, which keeps woman as property, just to mention one of Islam’s hideous practices? Abraham Lincoln weeps. Martin Luther King weeps.

Posted on August 30, 2010 at 9:49pmI agree completely, it is incomplete at best to call Islam a religion. I suggest it’s really a cult.
I offer the following as food for thought (taken from http://www.csj.org/infoserv_cult101/checklis.htm)…
Characteristics Associated with Cultic Groups – Revised
Janja Lalich, Ph.D. & Michael D. Langone, Ph.D.
Concerted efforts at influence and control lie at the core of cultic groups, programs, and relationships. Many members, former members, and supporters of cults are not fully aware of the extent to which members may have been manipulated, exploited, even abused. The following list of social-structural, social-psychological, and interpersonal behavioral patterns commonly found in cultic environments may be helpful in assessing a particular group or relationship.
Compare these patterns to the situation you were in (or in which you, a family member, or friend is currently involved). This list may help you determine if there is cause for concern. Bear in mind that this list is not meant to be a “cult scale” or a definitive checklist to determine if a specific group is a cult. This is not so much a diagnostic instrument as it is an analytical tool.
The group displays excessively zealous and unquestioning commitment to its leader and (whether he is alive or dead) regards his belief system, ideology, and practices as the Truth, as law.
Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged or even punished.
Mind-altering practices (such as meditation, chanting, speaking in tongues, denunciation sessions, and debilitating work routines) are used in excess and serve to suppress doubts about the group and its leader(s).
The leadership dictates, sometimes in great detail, how members should think, act, and feel (for example, members must get permission to date, change jobs, marry—or leaders prescribe what types of clothes to wear, where to live, whether or not to have children, how to discipline children, and so forth).
The group is elitist, claiming a special, exalted status for itself, its leader(s) and members (for example, the leader is considered the Messiah, a special being, an avatar—or the group and/or the leader is on a special mission to save humanity).
The group has a polarized us-versus-them mentality, which may cause conflict with the wider society.
The leader is not accountable to any authorities (unlike, for example, teachers, military commanders or ministers, priests, monks, and rabbis of mainstream religious denominations).
The group teaches or implies that its supposedly exalted ends justify whatever means it deems necessary. This may result in members’ participating in behaviors or activities they would have considered reprehensible or unethical before joining the group (for example, lying to family or friends, or collecting money for bogus charities).
The leadership induces feelings of shame and/or guilt iin order to influence and/or control members. Often, this is done through peer pressure and subtle forms of persuasion.
Subservience to the leader or group requires members to cut ties with family and friends, and radically alter the personal goals and activities they had before joining the group.
The group is preoccupied with bringing in new members.
The group is preoccupied with making money.
Members are expected to devote inordinate amounts of time to the group and group-related activities.
Members are encouraged or required to live and/or socialize only with other group members.
The most loyal members (the “true believers”) feel there can be no life outside the context of the group. They believe there is no other way to be, and often fear reprisals to themselves or others if they leave (or even consider leaving) the group.

Posted on August 31, 2010 at 8:06amI could not agree with you more. These people are crazy like foxes. What better way to infiltrate the world than to hide behind the guise of religion so that they may openly ply their trade which would never be tolerated in this country under any other name? The people behind 911 may be evil, but you have to admit that their plan was so simple it was pure genius. We did not suspect a thing. Well, suspicion abounds NOW and to ignore these feelings or to be shamed by the likes of Bloomberg into submitting to this insanity is something that the majority of Americans are not going to bow down to any time soon. I think that it is time to redefine what a religion actually is and if it involves domination then as far as I am concerned it should not be considered a religion, but an ideology instead. When an “infidel” is redefined in THEIR language to mean not someone who is without a god, but anyone who is not a muslim, that is where we must begin to shoot down this ideology of theirs. For that matter, even godless people have the right not to be persecuted by there barbarism. We all know that they preach “death to infidels” so how is it that this so called religion is “peaceful and harmless?” The big question of why the so called peaceful muslims do not denounce the violence associated with the the radical muslims has NEVER been answered. Is it because they FEAR reprisals from the main honcho if they do??? Of course that’s the reason!!! How is it that this Imam who calls himself a religious character is traveling the world on the dime of the US taxpayers???? Once again, crazy like a fox and we’re all just the chickens, I suppose. I think that we must either wise up or get used to the idea that we will someday be dominated by these people who want to drag us backward 3,000 years. Sharia law is archaic, brutal, merciless and intolerant. Just who are they to be trying to shame US by calling US intolerant? I don’t even want to think about a day when historians will say that the demise of the great United States of America was due to the tolerance of the people to accept and allow the flourishing of any ideology as long as they called it a “religion”.

Report Post »Having said that, Islam is at war with the west and has been since the Crusades. The Koran is not a book of peace and Islam is not a religion of peace but rather domination. My fear is that Americans may become so intolerant of Muslims that they alienate those muslims who truly do wish to practice a more moderate form of Islam (case in point being the Iranian protesters) In its history the Catholic church has engaged in many egregious actions against ‘heretics”, witches, cathars and others who preached against or threatened the authority of the church. Several hundred years later that aspect of the church has been abandoned. I would hope that the same will happen with muslims. One way to achieve this is to allow the religious practices of the religion that do not impinge upon civil or basic human rights and make no civil or governmental concessions as regards the barbaric and inhuman aspects of Sharia law.
