Elmo to Mayor: My Mom Lost Her Job

In plugging a new local government initiative called Families Stand Together, Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson enlists the help of Sesame Street’s most vocal political activist. Elmo tells Mayor Johnson that he’s had a tough time lately because one of his family members became unemployed:

This isn’t the first time Elmo has taken a stand in support of government programs. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) previously recruited Elmo to help push for new broadband internet initiatives.

In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Find out more HERE.

There is nothing here, this was cool. He spoke of tough times for the family, how a parent gives up things during tough times to make sure the kids don’t go w/o the essentials, and he spoke of the love of the family unit. /clap. He then talked about doing things that don’t require money like playing ball in the park, riding bikes, flying kites, etc, about time someone encouraged these kids to get out from behind the computers and do something physical. NOPE not gonna compare this to the FCC one, this was totally appropriate, now what was said after Elmo left to go to the bathroom………..we will never know.

Maybe Elmo should help out his mom. I mean Elmo has a job, probably gets paid than the majority of Americans and still isn’t helping out his family. Elmo should keep out of politics.

Anyone wonder who was actually at this “meeting”? I’m guessing the audience was over 95% adult. Elmo is targeted for an audience age bracket of probabaly around 2 to 10. Throw in a Liberal agenda lead by a liberal. Hmmmmm…

Making a theatrical appeal to younger minds should tell you everything you need to know about the message. This kind of attempt to sell government in California speaks to the desperation politicians feel during a time when the public is screaming for fiscal conservatism and honest job creation. The people who really need jobs are not served by shameless skits like this. Real private sector jobs are addressed primarily through strengthening small business so attention needs to be diverted away from that kind of logical thinking for them to win the argument.
Why would you use a childrens icon to promote such an adult subject? Because the politicains need the public to believe that government is the answer rather than the private sector. They fear that the demands of people like those in the Tea Party movement have too much traction with the oppositon to big governmemt and out of control spending. They know that those who would be influenced by Elmo are the most easily duped.

Believe me, I’m not a fan of indoctrination, especially of the liberal persuasion, but what exactly was wrong with the message? Mayor Smith speaks of LOVE in the family unit. I think that’s a nice thing. He talks of that being a need of children and families. Now, if the “family” becomes the government, and the “love” becomes taxpayers money, well then, yeah, that’s a problem. but I don’t think that’s what’s being said at all here. ….First post on Blaze. What have I gotten myself into?

You’re right. There’s nothing here to object to really. And the headline was actually false. Elmo never said “My mom lost her job”. The Mayor brought it up.

I would really like for Elmo’s “mom” to les her job, permanently, but we need to be factual about what we say.

Of CORSE it was scripted. But the scriupt isn’t exactly what the Blaze reports. As is trhere doesn’t seem to be much political hay being made by the script, so nothing important to report. Elmo wasn’t asking or hinting for government assistance so there isn’t any “there” there politically.

Let’s not jump to make stories where there aren’t any. There’s plenty of REAL material already out there.

Of course Elmo is a Democrat. 1) He’s more than 30 years old, and still lives with his mother, 2) doesn’t have a job, just plays all day, 3) mental capacity of a 3 1/2 year old, 4) runs around naked in public, (I’m sure there is a joke somewhere about having a man’s hand up your rear end, but that would be over the line.)

Are you free or are you not? After fighting the communists from Berlin to Vietnam, Korea to Afghanistan, and all around the world spending our blood our youth and our treasure for another people, how is it we have allowed Communism in the ranks of the Democrats. Are the Democrats so desperate for power they would associate with traitors, indeed welcome them with open arms? Forming organizations with tax payer money with the sole purpose of overthrowing the constitution forcing us to pay for our own destruction? We have got to get rid of this lose money! It’s time to turn our government back into the institution it was meant to be, not some weird kind of ATM machine. If you are a communist you are by definition ineligible to take any oath of office because no communist can say the oath with a straight face knowing that ultimately because of your beliefs, you wish the destruction of the constitution and our American way of life.
