The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has issued a travel notice to Muslim airline passengers, warning them that new regulations from the Transportation Security Administration violate certain religious rules.
According to CAIR, the TSA’s new “enhanced pat down” policy should be limited to searching only around Muslim women’s head and neck if they are wearing a hijab and that Muslims objecting to the enhanced full-body scans have the right to request the pat-down procedure be done in a private place.
From CAIR’s press release:
Special recommendations for Muslim women who wear hijab:
* If you are selected for secondary screening after you go through the metal detector and it does not go off, and “sss” is not written on your boarding pass, ask the TSA officer if the reason you are being selected is because of your head scarf.
* In this situation, you may be asked to submit to a pat-down or to go through a full body scanner. If you are selected for the scanner, you may ask to go through a pat-down instead.
* Before you are patted down, you should remind the TSA officer that they are only supposed to pat down the area in question, in this scenario, your head and neck. They SHOULD NOT subject you to a full-body or partial-body pat-down.
* You may ask to be taken to a private room for the pat-down procedure.
* Instead of the pat-down, you can always request to pat down your own scarf, including head and neck area, and have the officers perform a chemical swipe of your hands.
In February, the Figh Council of North America, a group of Islamic scholars, issued a fatwa, or religious ruling, that full-body scanners violate Islamic law.
“It is a violation of clear Islamic teaching that men or women be seen naked by other men and women,” the ruling states. “Islam highly emphasizes haya (modesty) and considers it part of the faith. The Qu’ran has commanded the believers, both men and women, to cover their private parts.”
According to the Detroit Free Press, CAIR endorsed the fatwa.
If any passenger refuses the full-body scan, new regulations call for new, enhanced “head to toe” pat down procedures. “Pat downs are one important tool to help TSA detect hidden and dangerous items such as explosives,” a TSA statement issued on Oct. 28 stated. “Passengers should continue to expect an unpredictable mix of security layers that include explosives trace detection, advanced imaging technology, canine teams, among others.”
According to the TSA’s “Head-to-Toe Screening Policies,” the agency may carry out closer inspections, depending on what a passenger is wearing. Baggy or loose clothing often draws extra scrutiny from security screeners.

Email the TSA and tell them what you think of their utter nonsense. The dhimmis!

Nov. 13, 2010 at 8:19amCarolinaGirl, you are making the same mistake as most of the world…assuming that what you refer to as radicals or terrorists are merely a segment of the larger islamic population. That’s simply wrong. There is no ‘radical’ islam…there is just islam, and it has been at war with civilization for over 1400 years. We are, right now, caught up in the most recent escalation of that war.
The simple fact is that islam commands the faithful to extend the caliphate across the whole of the world by subduing the infidel (you and me) by Converting us, Enslaving us, or Killing us. I choose “none of the above”…
Wise up…what you perceive to be ‘moderate’ muslims are merely insufficient in numbers in their local area to begin demanding the slimy slide shari’a. As soon as they get their numbers up, somewhere above 10%, they’ll begin to howl for change, accommodation, and exemption from anything they believe contravenes the teachings of their psychotic pseudo-prophet.
The only moderate muslim is one who has insufficient ammunition to make his/her point.

Nov. 12, 2010 at 10:43pmNobody should be pat down like this.
But it is those Sharia-desiring Muslims which should have to go through extra scrutiny, because Sharia is so contrary to freedom of speech for every individual, that there is very good reason to suspect this kind of Muslim as the most likely to attack the US.
I’m all for same-gendered pat downs (that didn’t come out right :P), but there is no way this group of people should get less scrutiny in their pat downs than the rest of us.
Oh, and as for:
“ask the TSA officer if the reason you are being selected is because of your head scarf” … “Before you are patted down, you should remind the TSA officer that they are only supposed to pat down the area in question, in this scenario, your head and neck” …
No, typically, the reason the head scarf is a cause for concern is NOT because it is thought that there might be something hidden under the head scarf, but because the head scarf is an expression of compliance to Sharia law, which is a view that is now a motivation for some to attempt to attack the US.
I don’t agree with the pat downs, but if they’re going to be done, then everyone gets patted down the same way. They’re looking for explosives, or components thereof, after all. This is not a game to us.

If you dont like the rules to ride airplanes, then DONT RIDE AIRPLANES, drive or take a boat.
Air travel is not a RIGHT it is an alternative to walking!

Nov. 13, 2010 at 1:25pmOBAMA is the man charged with the responsibility for the protection of American citizens!
This is one of those instances where he must step in and say NO! – Everyone on America is to be treated equally.
The fact that he doesn’t lends credibility to those that state he has strong Muslim leanings.
If Muslims find America’s time tested culture unacceptable then they have an option – return to a land where they can feel warm, comfortable and accepted.
Hopefully Americans will not allow their country to drift down the same path that Europe has – because Europe has a really big problem now and they don’t know how to handle it.

Nov. 13, 2010 at 2:06pmI put my wife on a plane this morning and was outraged standing there watching law abiding Americans standing there in their socks, putting their possessions in bins, raising their hands and being wanded and herded through an opening. I thought, what has happened to our country. Why are we volentaraly doing this? It made my blood boil.
WE are NOT the criminals! Why do we let them treat us as if we are? Stop being lazy and take a bus or drive. Yes it might cost more and take more time. But damn it, enough is enough! We call the shots, not them. The longer you capitulate to their sick rules, they will continue to ram it up your back side.
Boycott the airlines, I promise it will make a difference. I’m so done with being P.C.

Nov. 13, 2010 at 5:17pmSo that settles it, I just need to go buy a head scarf and every time I fly and do not want to be harassed I will just put it on and receive the same special treatment as the Muslims (who remember, 9 years ago, flew a couple planes in to a couple of buildings?!)
Problem solved, berka it is!

Nov. 14, 2010 at 3:59amThe radiation is bad for you. If you have done nothing wrong no one has a right to grope you.. This is just happening to get us used to being violated. If not stopped these scanners will pop up all over the place. They will use the excuse that they can do this because they have been doing it for years at airports. SIMPLE SOLUTION. ARM THE PILOTS AND POST A GUARD. Is it that hard? They are called air marshals. Place one on every large flight.

Nov. 14, 2010 at 10:10amOK, that does it! Our rights are being taken away while they let burka clothed people walk through? This really pizzes me off royally. These people in burka’s could be anyone taking advantage of the situation. Remember when they picked out babies and old women? Now they want to let muslims walk through without a patdown? What the double L has this country come to? From now on, if I can’t drive, take train or swim, I’m not going, so take that to the bank. bla bla
