WASHINGTON (AP) — New York Democratic Rep. Charles Rangel says the House’s overwhelming vote to censure him for financial misdeeds was political.
A relieved and defiant Rangel told reporters that he is at peace with himself and convinced that when history is written, people will recognize that the 333-79 censure vote Thursday was in his words “very, very very political.”
The 20-term congressman insisted that he did not intend to violate House rules.

Dec. 3, 2010 at 6:43amMe thinks the ovation was not primarily for Charlie, but for the creative ways he played the victim card, its not like I had sex with a child, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, you are picking on me, no one has been censored in so long, its not fair, I deserve better I have been here longer, it’s not fair, you guys do things like this and do not get caught, why are you picking on me? All sorta new, sorta ideal use of the victim card, watching him beg and plead for mercy, I fully expected him to go into some kind of soft shoe dance and start crying, luckily we were spared that routine. Poor Charlie, he had to be talked down to by none other then the great Nancy, such and embarrassment.
Hey Charlie, did you pay those taxes yet or are you still trying to get out of that also? Inquiring minds want to know..

Dec. 3, 2010 at 1:59amIf any of us had done what rangle has done I guarantee that we would not be able to retire and enjoy the lifestyle that charlie will have. He will probably use the old race card. and be in the news one way or another, recieving some kind of honor for his contributions to our country and to our government. BLAH,BLAH,BLAH…………..I actually think he was thrown under the bus to convince the American people that our presidents party is doing a wonderful job, and we should feel grateful that they could let old charlie go. Does anyone know what his retirement income will be? I have a feeling he will do just fine. Don’t cry charlie, you’ll be in far better shape financially than your fellow Americans will be.

Dec. 3, 2010 at 1:51amThis confirms my long-held belief that the best politicians are psychopaths. These people should be ashamed of themselves for applauding this self-serving crook but they suffer the same psychopathy that enabled him to believe he has done nothing wrong. It is a sad day when the members of the house don’t turn their backs and shame Rangel in the way he deserves.

I for one am giving the new batch of Repubs/Tea Party candidates this last shot to get the mess cleaned up or at least begin the process and keep the movement toward limiting Federal government control over the States. If they don’t – then I’m done with ALL politicians and preparing for civil war – because that is what is coming. It’ll be us older generations that have earned what we have against the freeloaders.

Dec. 3, 2010 at 12:34amyou know charlie, I think you should ask yourself, since you represent an entire district, put yourself in the shoes of a sole person, a single body in your district, perhaps even the weakest person; then after embracing that person’s aura, ask yourself what the court system would do to that person, if they did what you are accused and judged. Then apply that set course of ideas to become your punishment. You prepare yourself to be judged as which those who would judge the most powerful man within your district, but to be honest to yourself, and to your office……you should take the punishment that would be given to the weakest man of your district, and not the most powerful, because you represent all persons of the district.

Let your O’ Uncle Sambo answer that stupid question. It is very simple. It is because the American People are spineless whooshes. Your O’ Uncle Sambo feels you up at the airport. You make a little noise and line up like cattle for some more. Your O’ Sambo lets a good o’ boy off with tax evasion. You file your tax returns and send me a check on time.

The latest is the reparations which is on-going in the form of “farmers” who were “discriminated” against in the 1980′s. There may have been 2000 of the black farmers, but NOW the class-action lawsuit includes Native American “farmers” with billions to be handed out to many more than 2000 “farmers” who are willing to have their rear ends kissed, nothing but reparations. Money we don’t have, money sent overseas that we don’t have, money for entitlements that we don’t have. We are in a mess!

It’s a sad day in America when all you get, as a lawmaker, is a little brow beating for 40 years of corruption. And then to have your fellow crooks give you applause for being a thief.
Plus, look at the people who voted against censure, all members of the black caucus. Guess they haven’t put the race card behind them either. Sad, very very sad.

Dec. 3, 2010 at 11:03amIt was political, all right. That Pelosi’s oration of a ‘censureship’ and content amounted to nothing more than ‘taking a cookie away from a bad kid.’ And the defiant support of the other gutterdogs also amounts to nothing more than what was really political. It’s disappointing that there are so many Dems in power that gave an ‘big O” to someone who just recieved a censure for his illegal acts.
Voters,,, favoring the democratic party is your choice – I have voted democrat in the past, but unless you favor a corrupt government you really need to change your choice of government reps. If you favor supporting a communist agenda,,,you are on track, but if not, please, please open you hearts and minds, you will come to regret your support one day.

Dec. 3, 2010 at 6:04pmThere’s a very good reason he’s not in jail. He didn’t break any laws. After a two year investigation into the past 20 years of his financial history (which he voluntarily supplied). No criminal wrong doing was found. It was found that he did violate house ethics rules (such as using official letterhead for personal correspondence), but he did not prosper by these violation. These were things that could seen as poor judgment, or even mistakes. Looking at past cases that are similar in nature, the investigation should have taken a few days, and the maximum punishment should have been a formal letter of reprimand. It is utterly mind blowing that 2 years of time and millions of tax-payer’s dollars were spent on this relatively minor matter. How can any reasonable person not say this was politically motivated.
If anyone disagrees with me, as I’m sure many of you will, please indicate which law he broke that should land him in jail.
