We first brought you the story of Ted Williams on our blog yesterday. He’s the homeless man with a velvet voice that was just hoping for a break while begging for change on the side of the road. Well now, he’s got one. Several actually.
First, the video that changed Williams’s life:
That was Monday. On Wednesday morning, Williams appeared on a local Ohio radio show after local and national media couldn’t get enough of his silky smooth vocal chords. While talking with DJs from WNCI, the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers called in and offered Williams a job as well as to pay the mortgage on a home for him (the offer comes around 5:00 below):
But according to the Associated Press, multiple job prospects are rolling in for Williams. WNCI told the AP that ESPN and MTV have expressed interest. Williams has already received a $10,000 offer for voice-over work, and a Pennsylvania radio station wants him, too.
On Wednesday, the DJs from the local radio show, “Dave and Jimmy,” who hosted Williams took to Twitter to describe the moment:
After posting a similar message on Facebook, fans explained their own emotional reactions:
In an interview with CBS’s “Early Show,” Williams teared up and gave credit to God:

Jan. 5, 2011 at 11:24amThere are a lot of really talented people, intelligent people that wind up disenfranchised, marginalized or otherwise disconnected from a “normal” way of life. Nobody can truly understand the human mind and what causes and effects influence and / or determine the “affluence” of people. Addictions of all kinds are insidious to human kind. Pathological gamblers are by nature extremely intelligent people yet cannot live normal lives while “in the bet” mode……..It’s truly mind boggling and heart warming (this story) as well………. God Bless All…….and remember…..don’t judge….you could be very wrong about certain people on the surface of what you initially encounter……

Jan. 5, 2011 at 11:11amAnd furthermore………This kind of story of talent being rewarded by the CAPITALIST SYSTEM must DRIVE the left CRAZY. In their view, nobody deserves to be treated any better than someone else. Everyone should receive equally shabby treatment so that nobody’s feelings get hurt. If a person is talented, ambitious and hard working, that’s no reason for them to become richer than a stupid, lazy person who sits around all day complaining about the unfairness of their world. If this guy should become wealthy and prominent, he will be resented and vilified by liberals.

Jan. 5, 2011 at 12:56pmIsn’t this what got us in trouble with BO, he was such a great orator and everyone was weak in the needs listening to him. I don’t care how good this guys voice is, no one know anything about him and they are ready to praise his every word. Seems like our country has a problem with false idols… I think it said something about that being bad in that one book that obviously no one reads anymore

Jan. 5, 2011 at 1:00pmClive, What a jackass thing to say. First thing out of your hole on a feel good story, meant to be an insult? I have nothing but respect for recovering alcoholics or drug abusers or people who defeat any addictive behavior. What a jerk.

Jan. 5, 2011 at 4:02pmI love it! People always rally around those who choose to be humbled and thankful for everything and thank others before they would thank themselves. He correctly thanked GOD as he should. It’s not where you start, it’s where you finish that matters. His attitude is infectious and others will cling to this and whomever hired him will benefit greatly. God Bless this guy!

No, no one is is driven crazy for this guy being rewarded for his talent. No one actually believes any of the tripe you just posted. However, Fox and other extremists do want you to THINK the other side think that way. It’s far easier to attack extremist ideas than the reality.
