It only took one minute for things to get heated when Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) appeared on Sean Hannity’s show last night. One minute.
Weiner, known for his epic battles with Fox’s Megyn Kelly, appeared alongside Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) to debate the federal budget. Things got crazy real quick, and even personal, like when Weiner mocked Bachmann for her recent flubbing of history.
“I had no idea Rep. Weiner was such a reader of fiction,” Bachmann said at one point, referring to the Democrat’s budget numbers. “He’s a huge fiction reader because that’s all of his numbers.”
Weiner blasted back: “Bachmann, I don’t think you want to go there. I don’t think you want to go there Bachmann. And by the way, for her to make fun of me not knowing fact from fiction is a bit ironic to say the least.”
Hannity and Weiner also traded plenty of barbs.
After scolding Weiner for spending too much of “our money,” Hannity later went on to yell, “You’re a partisan hack! Stop it!” Weiner responded, “Don’t call me names, Sean!” and added, “It’s almost St. Patrick’s Day. You’re going to call me names?”
“Yes,” Hannity said.
Like me, you may think after watching this that Fox might want to consider making Weiner a “contributor” just so that it can lock up must-see TV like this:
This isn’t the first time these three have gone at it. In January Weiner used his almost-trademarked sarcastic tone to mock Bachmann on a CBS’s “Face the Nation,” and then got into it with Sean Hannity later in the week during a follow-up segment where he also appeared alongside Bachmann.

Weiners 2009-2010 top campaign doner came from ActBlue ($97,000.00)(Progressive Intentity) Since ActBlue’s inception in 2004 Wiener has gotten close to $472,877 thru this organization. As one article I read stated ActBlue is nothing more than a collection agency for George Soros. ActBlue is involved with raising money for the Recall of the Republicans in Wisconsin. Weiner cant stand on his own merits unlike every progessive Democat they count on donors outside there districts.

Mar. 17, 2011 at 8:38amThis country is a done deal I’m afraid. We won’t man-up to the problems and deal with them because of all the under the table deals and special interest groups.
So what if the Republicans have complete control in 2012? This problem will take generations to fix and in 2016 (or 2020 at the latest) it will be either all democrats running the show, or another useless political stalemate which will accomplish nothing but delay any long term stability, or send us further over the cliff. As soo as Americans face some actual hardships, they’ll do as usual…blame the party in power and vot the other way in the next election.
We have no clue how to fix the problem, no fortitude to see it through over the 50 years or so it will take, no will power to stop the on going spending whenever we get a little ahead.
Look at the stimulus programs in the past. Send out money to every American in HOPES that they will spend it…and complain it was a failed program if any actually saved it or paid off current debts rather than increase what they owed by buying more crap.
That sums up our government…anything you send them, they’ll find some other piece of crap program to spend it on rather than pay down the debt. Take the blinders off, Republicans and so-called “conservatives” will do the same thing. If they don’t agree to the spending, their backroom backers won’t support them in the next election, and while in office their “buddies” won’t return the favor by voting on their “cost cutting” proposals, if they don’t in turn vote for their “pay back my buddies” spending proposals.
Then you get all the talking heads like GB, RL, SH, ML…who are entertainers…not political activists or leaders. They make their bread & butter complaining about WHOEVER is in power…yes, even Republicans. Just wait until 2012 when we have a Republican lock on things…do you think these talking heads I referred to are going to go on a 4 year vacation? No…they’ll just start taking shots at those they wanted in power the last 4 years. That’s what they do…they instigate these verbal wars in order to get you steamed up and coming back for more…always with their hands out for more money. Not one of these guys/gals we listen to and believe in will run for an office…NOT ONE! Not even a minor one in the towns they live in…All they do is Monday Morning Quarterback the past, assemble numbers that back their point of view, stand on their soapboxes demanding that things get fixed…all the while never having an idea how, or the balls to get in the game themselves.

Mar. 17, 2011 at 10:16amI am firmly convinced that Weiner serves no useful purpose on the planet but I’m with SLIMKENDALL on Hannity. He was totally unprofessional calling Weiner a partisan hack. Glass houses, right? Hannity claims to want to have a debate but he always cuts off anyone who starts to say anything he doesn’t want to hear. Yes, I know, Weiner tries to filibuster and rarely makes an effort to provide a direct answer, but Hannity does this to any guest who dares to deviate from what Hannity wants to hear.
I don’t think Bachmann did herself any favors last night either. She was all too ready to pile on instead of staying above the fray.
I usually just have the TV on as background noise after O’Reilly (and sometimes even then). Hannity and Greta Mumblemouth have gotten so annoying that even the guests I want to hear aren’t worth what I have to put up with.

-I wish that I could fire Tony Weiner
-That is all I want and would really love to see
-Because if we fired Rep Tony weiner
-You’d see how happy everyone will be!

Mar. 17, 2011 at 1:12pmToo bad I missed it, but I can tell you how it went. Hannity asks Weiner a question, Weiner evades question with question of his own, Hannity starts talking and Weiner keeps talking, trying to talk over him. Hannity asks Bachmann a question, gets an answer, Weiner chides in with snide remark. Hannity asks Bachmann another question and she cannot finish, because Weiner is talking and won’t shut up. Finally, when Weiner won’t shut up ans everyone is ready to climb through the TV to slap him, time runs out. That about right?

Mar. 17, 2011 at 1:31pmDem talking points haven’t changed in thirty years. They have been saying tax cuts are an ‘expenditure’, something the government is ‘paying for’. Letting people, especially the rich, keep more of their money is somehow ‘giving’, as if people are receiving money from the Treasury in a handout on top of what they’re allowed by Washington to keep.
How do we ‘pay’ for stuff like this, Weiner wonders? Cut spending across the board and eliminate all earmarks, that’s how! You don’t buy a yacht (and store it where you don’t have to pay taxes on it) when all you can afford is a rowboat.
Yup–Weiner is a typical partisan Democrat hack, all right.

Mar. 17, 2011 at 2:51pmI have watched Weiner show his arrogance on Fox News before. Every time I watch it raises my blood pressure. And if you watched it at the end he really showed his true side, he mocked the host and wide mouthed laugh like the Joker in a Batman movie. Maybe that should be his moniker in the Senate, The JOKER Senator from New York, notice that this is another politician from one of the Colonies that started this Great Country. It would bet that it has a high percentage of Progressives now living in New York City, I wonder how many Torries sympathizers lived there during the Revolution?

His/Her analysis was not only funny and spot on, but he/she did it without mentioning any other idiots from the other side of the isle. I find that ENCINOMs post are not only entertaining, but also pointedly direct and accurate. I have obtained secret medical records from Bachman’s personal physician and guess what. That’s right ENCINOM somehow had the insight to know that Bachman suffers from a rare condition known as brain atrophy in which her association with other career politicians has apparently led to her brain seeking equilibrium with liberals brains in congress. I don’t know how you do it ENCINOM, but I got my eye on you and everything you post !!!!! Keep up the good work.

Mar. 18, 2011 at 11:43amMy goodness. Now I remember why I never watch Hannity or listen to Bachmann. They KNOW NOTHING. Here is a short list of errors and omissions that reveal their collossal ignorance:
1. deficit vs. debt — Bachmann starts out talking about hundreds of millions in deficit and then she talks about trillions in deficits. She is confusing deficit and debt. Given her stupidity in general, it shouldn’t surprise that she lacks the numeracy to notice this huge gaffe–much bigger than the one over where Concord Bridge lies–that reveals her as a fraud on budget matters. The reality is this: Bush was very good at increasing the debt while not increasing deficits, and he benefited from not being in power when the recessionary impact on the deficit was at its worst. That means that Bush actually contributed much more to the debt than Obama, but she can deny it with a straight face. Don’t believe me? Ask yourself this: if you fight two wars off-balance sheet, does it appear on your deficit numbers? (Nope.) But isn’t this a real economic impact to your deficit numbers? (You betcha.) He also played the game of passing Medicare Part D, which the Treasury Sec’y under Nixon (Pete Peterson) estimates added $32 TRILLION to unfunded debt, but this too barely hits deficit numbers under his administration. Bachmann likely doesn’t understand any of this, which is why she is the perfect propaganda tool that the GOP is right to covet. But hopefully at least a few people blogging here have enough smarts to see through this nonsense.
2. percentage of taxes paid vs. tax rate — Hannity, who makes a comfortable 8 figure salary but tries to pretend he’s for the common man, notes that the “rich” pay 75% of the taxes in this country. What he doesn’t tell you is that they hold 95% of the wealth and earn 90% of the income. This means that their tax rate is lower than the average American. Now Warren Buffett, who forgot more finance and economics this past weekend than Hannity is capable of learning in his entire life, noted that this is totally unjust for his secretary to pay a higher tax rate than he does, and it’s a total crime that it is about 3 times higher. Given the marginal utility of incremental dollars, this is highly unjust and most of economic theory would argue against this. Hopefully, a couple of bloggers here are smart enough to see Hannity’s ignorance on this issue and his deceitful framing of this issue to distract us from the problem Buffett has highlighted.
3. sources of deficit — Hannity and Bachmann insist that Obama has “spent” much more money than Bush, although they totally ignore all the debt Bush added that didn’t hit the deficit (accounting shanangans) and they also ignore the impact of the economic recession, which caused tax revenue to drop precipitously while spending on things like unemployment benefits rose dramatically. The impact of the recession has been about 3-5% of GDP, which is about $13-14T, implying up to $600B. This is the difference between Obama and Bush in terms of recession, along iwth the fact that Obama stopped hiding the cost of two wars by putting them back on balance sheet. The much bigger source of the deficit and debt is the Bush tax cut, which accounts for about 7-10% of GDP, depending on who you read, and this is the revenue problem that Hannity claims doesn’t exist. Now, he argues that living in NYC results in a 55% tax rate, but hardly anyone pays that rate, so this is the other lie he tells. The federal tax rate is at historical lows, thanks to Bush, but we now are taking in far less revenue at the federal government than we are spending — so a 10% structural deficit has emerged — that cannot be cut by lowering spending only. One must raise taxes to cover it. This is a fact, and Hannity ought to accept it. He has not been able to find cost savings equal to 10% of GDP, nor has Art Laffer, Lawrence Kudlow or any other conservative economic talking head. Until they do, we definitely have a revenue problem. I hope that a few people here can see this obvious lie that Hannity and Bachmann propagates.
4. unemployment figures — Weiner’s unemployment figures were absolutely correct, and Hannity called it a lie because he is afraid of the truth coming out. What’s more, a quick look at unemployment figures over the last three years shows that the falls were steepest under Bush and then decelerated and reversed under Obama. Now, some of this is simply the luck and timing of when the election cycle occurred versus the economic crisis. Further, nearly everything that Obama did to turn around the economy and avert a Great Depression were also things that Bush and Cheney supported. But the more important point is that Clinton produced tons more jobs than Bush in an equal term of eight years even though Bush had a lower tax rate. This means that tax rates are not a key factor in job creation, despite all the republican hype to the contrary. The difference in tax rates, about 4% is simply not large enough, and the negative impacts of deficits and declining public spending in smart areas (e.g., infrastructure, basic science, etc.) are the first to be hurt when tax rates are too low. No Republian has been able to show a strong linkage, so they tell stories rather than doing the math. Hopefully, a few people here are smart enough to see this and honest enough to acknowledge that Weiner is correct on this and so are the many economists who point out the huge differences in job creation between Clinton on the one hand and Bush (and, for that matter, Reagan) on the other.

Sean thrives on debate and I am fed up with the talk overs, shouting and name calling. There’s NO debate in most of what Sean calls ‘debate.’
While we need to get all the info we can on the hidden agendas of those in power, I think we the people should turn off these talking heads and get on with the task at hand. The 2012 election will soon be upon us (that is, if o’barry hasn’t crowned hisself king yet)— it’s time for us to organize and get out the vote and do everything we can to alert those ‘we-the-peoples’ who are still snoozing away.

Mar. 18, 2011 at 9:16pmHere’s what I get from this clip. The host of a national “news” program is calling people names. what was it this time, “a hack” or something. Occasionally, he will call people stupid or nazi. I don’t understand this behavior. I know that most of you probably hate NPR even though you’ve never tuned in to a single program, but you would never hear this type of behavior on ANY PROGRAM. If Weiner and Bachman had been on the program together each would have been able to speak their mind without any hostility. neither would have been allowed to demean the other. And the host would not have shown any favoritism. It would be left up to the listener to reach their own conclusion. Honestly, I just don’t get this behavior.

Mar. 18, 2011 at 10:03pmWe are now entering a re-founding revolution. Our choice of weapon is the freedom of us speakin. We choose to fight in the arena OF THOUGHT and our founders had superior. But now in OUR house they all snub the constitution. Did they swear to us to GOD or some sort of alien. If to GOD what a shame but one day they‘ll meet with him and if to us then there LIARS and it’s time for us to replace all them. OUR CONSTITUTION our BILL OF RIGHTS and no interpretation that‘s how we’ll finish this re-founding revolution. So now it’s time for the 28th amendment “No authority can tax a SOVERIGN STATE CITIZEN” It’s also time for OUR state representatives to come back home and start representing them. After that we’ll be headed towards a different place, a place OUR founders intended for the human race. So much HOPE so much CHANGE and new innovation. WE pray to GOD for this re-founding revolution. Hey U.N. we’re sorry for all the confusion, but those treaties that we signed are against OUR CONSTITUION. So what were saying is that it’s time for us to hit the road and that building in New York will be sub-divided into condos… So much HOPE so much CHANGE and new innovation WE pray to GOD for this re-founding REVOLUTION.
