Michelle Obama’s anti-obesity “Let’s Move” campaign encourages dancing. And apparently she’s moving away from her “do as I say not as I do” actions to set a good example.
The First Lady made a surprise visit to Alice Deal Middle School in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday and decided to do “The Dougie” and “The Running Man” while dancing to R&B and hip-hop artist, Beyonce.
How was it? Well, here’s what the Huffington Post had to say:
We’re struggling to come up with words to describe this video, but here are a few: awesome, best-ever, work it, I’m so excited about this that I’m presently slapping my hand on the table while I view it.
I’m sure you’ll have some other words:
“More than 600 schools performed the Beyonce workout simultaneously this afternoon,” NBC Washington said. “Only one school, of course, was lucky enough to have the first lady doing the Dougie on the sidelines.”

May. 4, 2011 at 9:14amJust watched this video on Drudge. The comments on that site were a real love fest. Only one or two even hinted at the sad state of the union. We may be going to He!! in a hand basket, but she can really groove, was the sense I got from there. Our students learn nothing about Math, Reading, Writing, or History, but lets teach them to dance. The article talked about her style, her commitment to children loosing weight, her dancing skill, and her toned arms. They sad nothing about the ugly outfit she had on, how much this outing cost the US tax payer, or her shape below the waist. The schools need to drop all the useless “social” programs and get back to teaching the basics which include the real American History, true music appreciation and Physical Education programs. American children are overweight because the “Adults” will not let them go out and play, it might hurt their precious self esteem if someone else wins the game.

They are also more able to stay awake and attentive in class. But if this was Laura Bush trying to get kids in shape it would be a good thing.
