Retribution: Mother Sets Daughter’s Gloating Rapist on Fire

A Spanish mother has taken revenge on the man who raped her 13-year-old daughter at knifepoint by dousing him in petrol and setting him alight. He died of his injuries in hospital on Friday.

Antonio Cosme Velasco Soriano, 69, had been sent to jail for nine years in 1998, but was let out on a three-day pass and returned to his home town of Benejúzar, 30 miles south of Alicante, on the Costa Blanca.

While there, he passed his victim’s mother in the street and allegedly taunted her about the attack. He is said to have called out “How’s your daughter?”, before heading into a crowded bar.

Shortly after, the woman walked into the bar, poured a bottle of petrol over Soriano and lit a match. She watched as the flames engulfed him, before walking out.

  If the law won’t keep these creeps off the streets .. then this is what can happen … he should not have been out for any reason … I think the mom snapped .. and I can’t say I would not have done the same thing.
  
  Hopefully someone will understand this .. she should not be punished for doing what it takes to protect herself and/or her child .. obviously if he was out and taunting he was still a threat.

  In the OT, rape is a capital crime. The courts are entirely too lenient w/rapists. If we don’t execute them, the least we can do is lock them up and throw away the key (LWOP).

  3-day passes from prison for rapists??? Now that’s insane. It’s understandable why the mother would snap and go all Sarah Connor on the perp, but the mom must do the time for her crime. Her daughter, the victim, now will have lost both her innocence and her mother. Sad.

  Jailed for 9 years in 1998, released for a 3 day pass in 2005, mom spilled her gas & cigarette on him in 2005. No one says what happened to the mother after this “unfortunate” accident.
  
  When will politicians learn that giving convicted criminals time off (work furloughs, family visits, etc.) rarely work out well – Right Gov. Dukakis?

  It is just surprising the gal had the patience to let the justice system run its course. Are you a father or mother? Your 13 year old daughter is raped at knife point by a 69 year old predator and you ask if any one of you could have done that. By the time they found him, he would have been begging for a glass of petrol and a cigar! While any rapist is excrement, pedophiles take that definition beyond what it tactfully describes. I truly think there would be a profitable vocation for someone who was an Orkin for pedophiles so-to-speak! While someone mentioned the nightmare she created in her life by killing this debris, I doubt highly that is the case. Some say the original translation of the 10 commandments suggests “Though shall not murder” not “though shall not kill”. In any event, I think both her and her daughter will be more at peace than ever or at least as much as they can be given the scenario that unfolded prior to the gasoline!

This mother, while I can most certainly understand the human emotion of revenge, passed a final judgment that’s only God’s.
