‘Unforgivable’: Intense Video Captures Iowa Voter Calling Gingrich ‘Embarrassment’ for Ryan Remarks
This was the spontaneous encounter that Newt Gingrich absolutely did not need today. Already in damage control for his comments implying that Rep. Paul Ryan’s plan to fix Medicare amounted to “right-wing social engineering,” and the fuzziness of his how his views on individual healthcare mandates might differ from Obamacarian ones, Gingrich had even posted a video clarifying his views. And then this happened. Just one of those chance meetings in the lobby of a Holiday Inn that can prove enormously problematic for a presidential candidate. Key part of the clip hits about 1:40:
Here’s my best attempt at a transcript:
Guy: Speaker Gingrich, what you just did to Paul Ryan is unforgivable.
Gingrich: I didn’t do anything to Paul Ryan!
Guy: Yes, you did. You undercut him and his allies in the house.
Gingrich: No, I…
Guy: You’re an embarrassment to our party.
Gingrich: I’m sorry you feel that way.
Guy: Why don’t you get out before you make a bigger fool of yourself.
At least the guy was polite enough to call him Speaker Gingrich!
The Des Moines Register (h/t Hot Air) identifies the man as Russell Fuhrman, a Dubuque resident who just happened to be in the hotel when he encountered Gingrich.

I don’t think he was attacking the right…w/that being said, I’m actually kind of glad this is happening to him because he is not the right candidate for this time in history…if he ever was. He does not have the backbone to do the difficult things our country needs at this point in history. Put very simply, he’s too much of a politician that’s been in DC too long. So sorry Newt, but I’m not that sorry and good riddance (hopefully).

Posted on May 17, 2011 at 1:21amI no little knowledge of the machinations of government, but I do know the solvency of a retirement plan. No plan can survive if it relies on an ever decreasing base to provide for those on it, We have a declining workforce here. Two main reasons have led to that. One is the increasing influence of unions over blue collar jobs, ie, manufacturing. Two is the ever increasing intrusion of governement into the profitabilty of remaining businesses. Limit or remove these two factors and this country would still be on top. Allow them to continue and we will DEVOLVE into a chaotic mess ripe for exploitation by those who dont have our best interests in mind.

Posted on May 17, 2011 at 12:59amPower holds more slaves than Liberty. What we fight against is simple. We fight against the gain that office brings, for the fealty it should owe. To serve, should mean to sacrifice. It is that way for the brave who stand the post. We have a governement, those employed by it, and those who benefit from it, who believe we owe them. We have a monster in our closets, under our beds, and behind every corner; that needs our fear. We need not give it to them. Until I am taken from this earth, it will be, OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, AND FOR THE PEOPLE. To that end, we must stay the course.

We are the people who can confront these big gov’t hacks when we see them and we need to do so boldly and with as much respect as we would give any other human being. As much as they disgust us, as much as we may not like it we need to lovingly call them out. If we do not make huge improvements in 2012 I fear there will be war within this nation, and I only pray that we succeed in restoring our Constitution and fix the progressive Amendments while we are at it. 16th, 17th, and clarify the 14th so that revisionists can’t use it to give illegals who give birth here a way to stay. The original intent of the 14th Amendment was to give citizenship to those who were brought here for the purpose of servitude, as well as those of later generations who are born here of parents who are not foreigners or owe allegiance to a foreign power. Those fixes would take away the arguments that Progressives use to grant illegals citizenship, collect federal taxes on our personal property, and put the power of the electing US Senators back in the hands of the States…we can more closely control our own States and local gov’ts than we can the Federal Gov’t, which was the original intent of the Constitution to begin with.

This isn’t a battle of sematics, nor is it a battle of platforms. This my friends, is a battle of right over wrong. For too long, people of this nation slept, including my parents, now we are charged with the reformation of this nation. A battle looms, one that defines not only where we go as a nation, but truly, the direction of the world. If we sacrifice the only bastion of freedom in the world, we allow the greatest threat in the world to win. Slavery, Nazism, Communism, hold no candle to Islam. Where we need to fight is here, to hold Lady Liberty on her pedestool. Without her, we die.

Posted on May 16, 2011 at 11:45pmYep, he’s finished. Has he always been this liberal? Or just been the last 3 or 4 years? Scary, I used to think he was the real thing.
We Constitutionalists have to get behing one person sooner rather than latter and not let the establishment win. We DO NOT want to be McCained again while breaking up the conservative vote 6 ways. We need a government of the people for the people by the people. They have to be sharp and leadership quality. Cain, Santorum, maybe Bachman or West. Those are our choices and 2 are not in.

Posted on May 17, 2011 at 12:06amIt’s cool, “tea party constitutionalists when it supports my theocratic state” will resort to Romney, and then I’ll laugh hysterically as our country dies in a fire.
Wake up people, the only person tackling issues, and fighting an uphill battle with the media is Ron Paul.

Posted on May 17, 2011 at 12:06amWe need not accept, what Dem-light, sends our way. In our heads, in our hearts, we know what must be done. Irregardless of what the trolls who visit this site say, we are a nation of laws, a nation of values, and a nation of right over wrong. As a nation we shall live by the rights that nature’s law gave us, or die defending them, What the trolls, LSM, and the REGIME fail to recognize is, we will defend, and we will live for what we are entitled to. Those rights that cannot be legislated, executive ordered away from us. The left welcomes a response, they want it, sad to say is, when we respond with the conviction of our beliefs and for the defense of our families, it will mean the end of them. They see it grow everyday, the resistance, the anger, the self preservation which made our nation, is still alive. You are your own first responder. Hold on, and stay the course.

Posted on May 17, 2011 at 5:36amI used to have respect for Newt. But I suppose that probably stems from the fact that I wasn’t old enough to understand politics during the 90s.

Posted on May 17, 2011 at 5:40amRon Paul may have stumbled across a brilliant and righteous ideology, but he is a crackpot. He can’t articulate anything to save his life. He believes that today’s society is prepared for a total legalization of drugs. Its not. We have to clean up our progressive utopias (run-down, crime-ridden cities) before we can ever foist pure libertarianism on this country. We still need SOME government, just much, much less of it.
Oh, and contrary to Ron Paul’s crackpot thinking, we still need a military. We can’t just say “we don’t wanna play anymore” and expect that Jihadi Islam will quit too. China is also getting ballsy.

Posted on May 17, 2011 at 6:39amI’m just glad he’s showing himself this early–saves a lot of voters heartache later on. He’s a throwback and career politician. Just what this country doesn’t need. How serious a candidate was he really? I mean, couldn’t he have hit the gym a few times to get rid of that spare tire before announcing? Yes we need someone with the right message but in this day and age it sure helps if you are a visually appealing human specimen. I’m thinkin’ West/ Rubio. Ohhh yeahhhh.

Posted on May 17, 2011 at 8:55amNewt has been campaigning and speaking to reporters for the last 20 years, he should know by now how the press works. It wasn’t a gotcha, it was one of those,”redistribute the wealth” moments like Obama had during his campaign where he said what he really meant.
Newt slipped and said what he really meant. Now, he is playing cover up.

However, the person that should drop out of the race to president should be OBAMA…. before EVERYONE comes to understand just how REALLY STUPID THIS “DUMB AS A ROCK” NAZI/COMMIE IDIOT IS! BUT, Obama is so stupid that he doesn’t realize that he is stupid. Hey Obama, when you leave, please take that fat a$$ed vacationer with you. I have lived in Georgia my entire life. I, too, have voted Republican. I am a conservative independent, Christian, white, yadda yadda yadda.
You left Georgia, Al Gore left Tennesse, expect the same treatment that Gore received from his “home” state if you continue. Get out now, you are an embarr ass ment.
I still support a CHRISTIE – CAIN ticket. A Government CEO and a Business CEO.

Posted on May 17, 2011 at 6:28pm@Mario, I agree except for one modification. Make it Bachmann/Cain. Together, they can both begin the process of implementing the Fair Tax and dismantling the IRS which will no longer be needed. Can’t wait to see Ed Schultz’s head explode. He will need lots of duct tape.
