Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA) believes that the Transportation Security Administration is far too concerned with political correctness. Rather than wasting time on old ladies and children, Broun says that the TSA needs to focus “on those people who want to harm us.”

Watch him explain his frustration following a recent trip to the airport when TSA officials patted down “an ol’ lady” and a child, then allowed a “guy in Arabian dress” to “walk…right through:”

If you even look like you might have eaten a middle eastern dish in the past 10 years then that’s all the evidence I need to get off the plane and wait for the next one, I’ve got plenty of time but only one life and I don’t care to gamble it away because I might offend someone wearing a tablecloth for a hat.

With unthinking, politically correct fools like Napolitano in charge, it has gotten to the point that the safest bet for a terrorist to get on a plane is to show up in full Arabic garb with a chip on your shoulder as if you’re ready to be offended by a common sense second look.

Common sense is not part of the TSA’s world, so said terrorist would be completely safe.

Remember the restaurant that got more business when they said they have to order in English? They need to have an airline that says “only people wearing jeans and t-shirts and no head coverings are allowed to fly.” I bet their business would increase exponentially!

I still say lets let the TSA be trained by Israel. They accually know what they are doing and they accually keep their citizens safe. No naked body scans (i.e. voiyering) and no fondling (i.e. sexual asult) of private parts. Hum. Wonder why that is.

  You are walking down the middle of the street when a car turns onto the street forcing you onto the sidewalk. On one sidewalk are two white “20 somethings” dressed in suits and carrying bibles and on the other side is a pair of black men dressed in the standard gangbanger attire…which sidewalk do you decide to go over to? True, anyone may be a nutjob looking to harm you…but you have to be smart and play the odds.
  
  This is not a “white” thing either. The person in the road can be black and instead of the gangbangers & bible thumpers, you can use a couple homeless guys on one side and a couple skinheads with nazi tattoos on the other. It’s just common sense and there is no racism involved at any point.

  Random for everyone? I took a flight two weeks ago from San Francisco, which is usually considered a liberal city. Know who got patted down? The sketchy looking man with a Pakistani passport in front of me. Oddly enough, no bombs were found. Color my shocked. In another lane, a woman of Latino descent was patted down. No bombs either. Didn’t see any kids or grandmothers get the treatment, but I’m sure it happens.
  
  The entire idea of “random” is “you never know who’s going to be checked.” Pat-downs are pretty ridiculous overall, since we have all the scanners (which keep not working). If someone is dedicated enough, they can commit evil acts. If someone thinks not patting down every cross-dresser is going to stop every attack, they live with childlike naivety.

  Considering the fact that almost every terrorist attack against this country in the last 30 years has be perpertrated by Middle Eastern men between the ages of 19 and 40, it makes perfect sense to search old white ladies and children and let the middle eastern men go undisturbed……Sheesh!!!!

  I have to agree with Sinista MACE on this one. The TSA has not caught one terrorist since their inception. We spend millions a year to have fat sweaty TSA agents feel us up for what? You want to stop a future terrorist attack all you need is to employ Israel’s profiling system and put an Air Marshall on every flight. Only in America do we pay to have our rights violated.

  So, you just happened to be flying out Frisco, which is a liberal city, 2 weeks ago, and a Pakistani, and a Latino got patted, but no grannies or kids did.
  
  Wow, what a convenient coincidence for that scenario to take place so soon before this story appeared.
  
  How very handy to have that nice little personal experience that you can use to lend credence to your argument.

  Israel racially profile people and look how successful they have been. We should profile people at our airports but ONLY non-Americans.   Why do we continue to allow the American citizens to be “abused” by our government? WHY? It is unconstitutional to force citizens through scanners and it is unlawful to pat them down! The Patriot Act is unconstitutional and should be repealed! What the h*ll is the matter with us? We KNOW what the enemies of this country look like! We know the names, etc of people who are scheduled to fly on our airplanes! Are you telling me that with the vast network of info that is available to our CIA, FBI…that they can’t do pre-screening on all passengers and weed out those who should be detained for further questioning before allowing them to board the planes?????????? This is nonsense America and I’m afraid that we are getting the government WE DESERVE instead of the one that others have bleed and died to protect!!!!!!!!!!!

  That’s the issue—Locked. Random doesn’t work. If it did, we wouldn’t have as many problems as we already do. Random checks have no reason to it……NONE whatsoever. Random means “we hope the threat of the possibility is enough to deter you…..” kind of like random dui checkpoints. Difference is, you can usually tell the guy who is swerving, some still are missed though. You cannot treat security RANDOMLY.

  This post is presumably about the republican representative’s apocryphal statement that a “granny” was patted down but not a person in “Arab garb.” There has not been one single Muslim who has done anything in an airplane while dressed in “Arab garb.” Not the 9-11 guys, not the shoebomber, not the underwear bomber, not the guys who tried to bomb the World Trade Center by exploding a bomb in the basement. Nobody.
  
  Are there extremists who claim to be Islamic, who would do us harm. Sure, no doubt. That’s a fact. But would they wear “Islamic garb” while they tried to blow something up? Of course not.
  
  No, Rep. Paul Broun is posturing for those bigoted among his electorate.
  
  One more comment. The US has – correct me if I’m wrong – 10,000 times more travelers moving in and out of the US than Israel. Never been there but traveling into the Netherlands I got a five minute, third degree interview while moving through customs by an intense by a tough looking, very intense guy who was boring holes through me (even though was a white guy, traveling with a teenage daughter, and dressed in shorts and a t-shirt). I’d been traveling for 18hours and exhausted, and was taken aback at first. But I perked up then, and understood what he was doing. Zero profiling.
  
  In any case, don’t compare what tiny countries can do and not shut down travel with the options the US has.

  Exactly precisely why we should not rely on random checks. We are not at war with every tenth person in line, but we do have a pretty good idea what profile the large majority of people who we are at war with us fit. The least we should do is perform at least the most basic checks on every single person that fits a threatening profile. To not do so is to temp death from political correctness.

  They are going to try and blend in, so according to you, it’s foolish for us to worry about the ones wearing Islamic garb, and there is no need to single every one of them out.
  
  Now here’s the confusing part, so follow along.
  
  If they know that we think that they would never try anything while wearing Islamic garb, and that we don’t scrutinize every single one of them extensively, don’t you think they might be smart enough to figure that out and try something while wearing Islamic garb because it’s the last thing we would expect?

  Sorry, I have not seen a system telling the TSA agents who to check at the Indianapolis International Airport… I fly in to / out of that airport a minimum of 1 time per week… Maybe some of the bigger metro areas are using “systems” to tell TSA agents when to check… As far as Indy is concerned, it is a nose picking TSA agent deciding who to check…

  These guys will feel up a 6 year old girl, play with the boys, insisting they are looking for terrorists, but they will let a muslim dressed in his rags, walk through like he is someone important. I think that the chances are much greater that a young muslim in full young muslim dresses, is much likelier to have a bomb than that white 6 year old girl the TSA agents were all over. It is a sickness, this PC junk. Oh, my, don’t PROFILE, that would be so unkind. Let’s look for a terrorist dressed as a 6 year old white girl instead. That way, no one can call us racists. Hey, if you are looking for a black man for murder, don’t stop whites. If you are looking for a white man for murder, don’t stop blacks, but if you are looking for a terrorist, look at teh ones who are terrorists, namely, muslims.
