Ohio Restaurant Closes One Week After Obama Mentions it in Speech

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio restaurant mentioned last week by President Barack Obama as an indirect beneficiary of the government’s Chrysler bailout will go out of business Sunday after a more than 70-year history.

Co-owner Richard Lawrence of New Chet’s Restaurant in Toledo says business has fallen victim to the economy and the workplace smoking ban approved by Ohio voters in 2006. He told The Blade newspaper of Toledo on Wednesday that auto industry cutbacks also hurt.

Lawrence says he used to deliver up to $300 in food per week to Chrysler Group LLC’s Jeep plant in Toledo, but now that’s down to about $100 worth.

Obama visited the plant on Friday and told workers that without them, who would eat at Chet’s or patronize other local businesses?

“And this plant indirectly supports hundreds of other jobs right here in Toledo,” President Obama said to hundreds of workers in Chrysler’s Wrangler plant. ”After all, without you, who’d eat at Chet’s or Inky’s or Rudy’s?”

The Smoking Ban argument was drafted by leftist politicians to gain control over individual Private Property Rights, which ultimately is the very foundation of The Declaration of Independence. The Smoking Ban issue was never about health care. The Smoking Ban allows government access into your dwelling.

How bad does it have to get in this country before the few hundred Obama supporters left give up and stop trolling sites like this? It is a FACT that Obama wants poverty and despair to drive the masses to his government and his crony evil corporations like GM, GE, Siemens, etc. The CEO of GM is evil corrupt with Obama. How anyone who doesn’t hate America can drive a GM vehicle, I don’t know….

Man the President is efficient; He promotes a political candidate- they loose, he promotes a business- it fails, he promotes accountability and fiscal responsibility- spending goes up from 21% GDP to 24% GDP, he promotes transparency- then throws media outlets out of press conferences and doesn’t return FOIA requests, he promotes racial equality- then throws the race card often to get what he wants.

Please don’t shake my hand at a public event, I want all my fingers to stay there.

When it comes to economics, Thomas Sowell is right on target. The government knows virtually nothing about it… and any time they dabble–we get disaster. We now have the government dabbling in sex education, although our current public school system is a disaster and we are not teach students to read, write, & do math at any level of honor–not to mention we are robbing them of childhood and forcing them to focus on “feeling good” instead of building character and achieving something. We are essentially making them into good little Marxist subjects for their future.

Barry’s just reading lines from his puppetmaster’s script. Sad thing is, they keep pulling from his ’08 run for material, it’s starting to bite them in the behind. I laugh anytime Barry tries to school anyone on anything. He’s an empty suit, and even the suit is getting holes in it.

Mark my words, when his term is up, he’s taking up smoking, again (that is, if he ever quit-which I doubt). I see him sitting on his Chicago porch in 5 years, cigarette hanging out of his mouth, stone drunk, mumbling to himself and still reading the feed on his permanently-installed teleprompters to get his news.

here in Maryland the smoking ban really hurt a lot of business if you eat and are ready for a smoke you just leave rather than order that piece of pie or the like the bars are taking a major hit.

Anything Obummer touches or speaks of seems to have all kinds of adverse effects every where he goes. Anyone with logical reasonning, unlike the POTUS, would understand this, especially if your a business owner. If I were a business owner, I would most certainly hate to be mentioned by this moron!

  Remember the guy in Mexico who shook his hand and pretty much the next day (or only a few days later) that guy died of that flu that was going around at the time. Then, more recently, he goes to Europe, and, a day or so later, they report of a superbug e-coli that was killing folks. Makes you wonder doesn’t it. lol
