Mexican Convoy of Soldiers, Weapons Gets ‘Lost’ & Ends Up Crossing U.S. Border

A convoy of three Mexican military trucks loaded down with soldiers and weapons may have violated territorial sovereignty near Laredo, TX on Thursday, driving through a border checkpoint and crossing into the United States.

KGNS-TV reports the crossing happened at a section known as Bridge Number Two:

According to the station, which interviewed Customs and Border Protection, officers at the crossing were baffled when they heard the trucks were on their way and called Mexican authorities:

A CBP spokesperson says they got on the phone with Mexican authorities after being alerted that the military trucks were heading their direction loaded down with soldiers and weapons.

Mexican leaders say the soldiers, who had just been deployed to Nuevo Laredo, didn’t know the area, got lost and then made their way through Bridge Two.

It’s unclear if the U.S. border agents tried to stop the troops or let them through.

This isn’t the first time Mexican troops have crossed the border recently. In 2008, controversy ensued after Mexican troops crossed into the U.S. and detained a border agent:

No surprise — as usual, I guess it’ll take some catastophic event to wake up enough people to finally do what was needed many years ago – but who knows. I cannot understand the “open borders” people….it’s like trying to understand an insane person….which I think they must be to some degree. The borders MUST be securely sealed….terrorists are also coming over – they go to Mexico and then here.

Seems like a “test” to see how easy it is to get weapons into this country. Anyone would be a fool to think that real terrorists haven’t already entered our country with WMD’s. Having this irresponsible Obama administration in charge of our borders is madness. All our lives are at stake.

Three teenage hikers loaded with bubble gum, crackers and water accidently wander into the remote WILDERNESS of Iran. They are caught immediately, tortured, imprisoned and on trial for their lives for spying. The Mexican army/drug dealers/whatever they were, drive past border agents and hoards of other people into the US loaded with guns and ammo and are able to turn around and go back home without even being detained. This is embarrassing.

Please. They were lost? confused?
We need an impenetrable wall the entire length of the mexican border manned by soldiers.
Any person or persons attempting to cross that wall…military, civilian, or terrorist, should be warned and then fired upon.
Then we can start dealing with the illegals already inside our borders, many of whom may be allowed to stay.
This is the real world.

  I call for a moat, too. Fill it with piranha ;P Also, why do we not just set up miles and miles of barrier wire? You know, razor tape and stuff? I’ve seen some that has built-in sensors that go off when the wire is disturbed by more than, like, a bird flying and settling on it. I think it’s actually based on the measure of displacement of the wire. But yeah, why don’t we put Fence, razor coils, fence?
  It’d look like this: |8o8|
  Also, they make fence products, that are impervious to cutting by any means less than a professional-grade plasma cutter, that actually have little razors attached to the fabric. Not to mention, they make interlocking [ball and socket joint] steel panels that are about 20 ft in height [above ground height ~10-15 ft, due to burying to guard against burrowers] that can be used for even further protection.
  
  I’m just saying: The products are out there that could lead to us having very VERY secure borders, but isn’t that what we all make fun of North Korea for?

  As for security for the border, look at cochranesteel.com and betafenceusa.com.
  They offer INTENSELY secure fence products [some uncuttable by anything less than a professional-grade plasma cutter] and razor wire [some with electrical discharge capabilities and sensors built in] as well as floating barriers to guard our rivers and coast-lines [they look like something out of a sci-fi movie].

  @ lawlcat001, we already have a moat. It’s called the Rio Grande River. I know that Rio is river in Spanish so the river is redundant, but Rio isn’t English and I an using the English name for the river.
  
  I think the border patrol should always seize the weapons when this happens and check every person and vehicle for explosives and drugs before escorting them to jail for trying to cross the border with contraband. It would stop “accidents” like this one and the one in CA a few months ago very quickly.
  
  Side note: If the telephone was invented in the US and named in the US and there was never a word for it in any other language before it was invented…. Why did people speaking other languages invent their own version of the word for it? Why do they need telephono instead of telephone? We use their words for their inventions. Quesadilla, fajita, flautas, empanadas… etc. I can’t think of any technological breakthroughs by the Mexicans, but you get the drift.

  i agree, having had to install miles of razor wire at various prisons. the various cuts received just by gingerly reaching for it meakes me aware of the stopping power of it. 2 fences with rows of razor wire in between, sensors and guards will make for a barrier that is much more secure than we have now.

  Well, if they were organized they would have asked first I suppose. Looks like this was just a convoy that got lost, so it’s not big deal. As to foreign military on US soil, I’ve seen plenty of Luftwaffe aircraft down in Phoenix, and it wasn’t a big deal either.
  The drivers were as surprised as the border guards so I’ll not lose any sleep over it. Stay up if you wish. :-)

This COULD be a legitimate accident; also it could be a band of the cartel soldiers testing the border defenses in preperation for another move in the future, or in response to the terrorists now allied with the cartels to see the state of our already open borders…and now even more proof just how open they are when foreign soldiers can just cross over.

  Mistake or not the fact that our borders are not secure is not a mistake, thanks to the president and homeland security. The fact that the crossing gurards were “baffled”, is scary. Have they not been trained? We are providing more secure borders for other counties with our troops than we are our own borders.

  The only sane response for the Mexican government is to deny them the ability to return without facing charges – because it’s just too embarassing to admit they were lost, so they should be charged with going AWOL and potentially starting an international incident.

  Any time a liberal thinks we should let the government be incharge of ANYthing – remind them of this story – Government is too incompetent to even stop an armed 3-truck convoy invasion at a border checkpoint! – and I absolutely believe the same thing would have happened under progressive neo-cons like Bush and McCain.   Build all U.S. Prisons in a long chain along the border. All states can use it.
  Break into THAT.
  (Or, build commercially operated prisons IN mexico, administer them with U.S. citizens, and staff them with local Mexican labor. It just costs too much to imprison people here – plus, the large percentage that are Mexican citizens, not U.S. citizens, will already be home when they are released.)

As much as obama hates and is afraid of Texas, he’s probably hoping that mexico will try to attack and take over Texas and if that’s the case, let them try, we will show them and obama the motto that can’t be beat!

  Were Mexicans on the US side cheering and waving Mexican flags? The only way this could happen is if Obama ordered the boarder patrol to let them into the US. These Mexicans had guns and the US just let them in. Mexico may soon send troop to US Boarder States to help maintain order and prevent the harassment of Mexican residents. This was no mistake.
