Sex Change Operations Turn Little Girls into Boys: Indian Parents Think They’re Cheaper to Keep

In a stunning revelation reported in The Telegraph Monday, parents in India are allegedly paying £2,000 (around $3200) to have their young daughters undergo gender reassignment surgery in order to turn them into sons — all in the hopes of dodging the added expense of raising a girl. Indian culture favors males for their income earning potential and due to the fact that unlike females, they won’t cost their families unnecessary educational expenses and wedding dowries.

Currently, there are 7 million more boys than girls under age six in India and there’s clearly a reason for that. In a country where female foeticide (gender-based abortions) are commonplace, this new twist has many fearing children aren’t safe even after they are born. Madhya Pradesh state government is already investigating 300 cases in which girls have reportedly undergone genitoplasty.  The Telegraph goes on to explain:

The surgery, known as genitoplasty, fashions a penis from female organs, with the child being injected with male hormones to create a boy.

Dr V P Goswami, the president of the Indian Academy of Paediatrics in Indore, described the disclosures as shocking and warned parents that the procedure would leave their child impotent and infertile in adulthood.

“Genitoplasty is possible on a normal baby of both the sexes but later on these organs will not grow with the hormonal influence and this will lead to their infertility as well as their impotency. It is shocking news and we will be looking into it and taking corrective measures,” he said. “Parents have to consider the social as well as the psychological impact of such procedures on the child.”

Ranjana Kumari, a human rights advocate who has been leading the campaign against female feoticide told The Telegraph these gender reassignments performed at such a tender age and without consent shed light on India’s increasing “social madness:”

She said she despaired that education had failed to stop the growing rejection of baby girls in India.

“People don’t want to share their property or invest in girls’ education or pay dowries. It’s the greedy middle classes running after money. It is just so shocking and an outright violation of children’s rights.”

    How about just cutting the dowry. Culture customs of paying a family of the male a dowry is way old and a heck of a lot better then messing with these young girls lives. The girls will always be girls no matter what you do physically to their bodies. When you think you have heard it all then something like this is brought out of the closet. I am glad this is out in the open. This is really serious and UN is doing nothing about it, yet the UN is in the process of creating regulations to force all of us to live on a low carbon diet. The UN is the biggest joke of all, this organization had to know this has been going on for some time now and keep quiet about it.

    All the while San Fran parades “Chaz” Bono in the streets? (They just televised ‘pride’ for HOURS on local tv here.) If you don’t know, ‘chaz’ is the poor lost soul that was born the daughter of Cher and Sonny Bono. ‘Chaz’ has had a lifelong string of public issues, culminating in a sex-change to become a ‘boy’.
    IMHO, ‘Chaz’ has repeatedly cried for parental attention, and this was just another such cry. What a poor lost soul.

    Pray for ‘Chaz’.

    Pray for these children and for their misguided parents.

    Perhaps there is a way we could adopt these girls BEFORE they become a financial burden on their parents? There are MANY families here who would love to have children, but cannot.

    Dear Lord, this literally broke my heart. I can’t even imagine what this does to these girls mentally, this is a serious crime against humanity! How cruel of these parents and the bottom line is that money motivates all of this. The LOVE of money is the root of all EVIL!

      BTW, about that “ignorance” you like throwing around, you realize average education standards in India are pretty damn high? That’s why we even outsource tech jobs there: Low labor costs for highly skilled and educated people.

      No doubt, you speak of an entire culture as “ignorant” yet fail to see how many people from that culture have highly skilled jobs in your own country? It is getting harder and harder to find a western doctor in the US, they are all from India!

      Sure India has its problems, it is one of the last places in the world that I would wish to visit. But don’t for a second think your own crap smells any better. People are people, as you so adequately showed with your post. There is ignorance everywhere. No one culture has the market cornered here.

      They have highly skilled jobs in this country, not because they are good at them, I’ve worked with hundreds, none have been worth a crap, but sadly, they work for 1/3 less than a competent American and there are programs that give tax breaks to the employers so they can hire 3 or 4 of them to do the job of one and still come out on top.

    Aside from the fact that testosterone treatments cost money, that if the family cannot afford it, you have nothing more than a girl with a penis, why not just STOP PAYING A DOWRY!!!?? Why does that archaic social tidbit still thrive in a country where the average paycheck is $3/day?

      Lack of girls is actually a large problem in China and will become one in India. It’s the fault of a society in which you can go bankrupt from paying for a dowry.

      When you do not value your children, they certainly will not value you. Welcome to our twisted world where children are no more than beloved pets that we can alter like livestock. They care so much about social status that they would mutilate a child or kill them. What do you expect from people that think god is an 800 pound laughing fat man or that you have a god for every occasion or that your place in life is decided by your social status at birth. The caste system was created by powerful men as an excuse to keep people down and make them accept it. The world is just a crazy place. These people have forgotten love of their children and decided love of property and status is more important. With America it is the same way but it is more about stuff. Social status is secondary but growing. Some of us still have morality and common sense.

      You know what this means? The progressive liberal parents here in America will ask their kids at age 4 what gender they prefer and go along with the process. I mean there trying to eliminate he and she, urge transgenderism, all this at a young confusing age for a child. India you have issues. Just hope the weirdos here don’t follow suit.       The Male (Adam) represents: Leftbrain = Conscious Mind: External Power (provider: warrior, farmer, builder, etc.). The Female (Eve) represents: Rightbrain = Subconcious Mind: Internal Power (external & internal caretaker: food, clothing, home, children, etc.)
      Since civilization began, and with few exceptions, men were the rulers (external power). Women were cast in a supporting role for the men (internal power). Pick a country/nation/tribe/etc., anywhere on this Earth, check out its history; its’ origins and belief systems. Again, with few exceptions, men ruled externally, women internally. And all through history men had power over women. India’s is external: Men Rule.

      Why? Was it that men, being the physically stronger, could force women to submit to their needs? Did early ****’s discover (or was it ingrained in them?) that, in nature, the stronger male-creatures ruled the weaker female-creatures? Did they also observe that it was mainly the male-creatures who hunted for food, and brought it to the area (home) where the female-creatures (as like the ****-Females) took care of the young she had given birth to?

      Timewise, the Genus ****, from erectus to sapiens, in my opinion, was far too short on the evolutionary scale to account for the rapid progression of social structures, as well as the advances in tools and materials, etc. I beleive, it was in the ‘Sapien’ line that “God” intervened, created the “Adam” and taught him civilization.

      Regarding this story, something like this going on means one of two things; they are either liberal wackos or they don’t know God. Of course the liberal wackos don’t know God either because if they did there is no way that they could ever do what they do or make the laws that go against God. So it could be the same thing for them over there.

      Initially the very thought of this made me feel sick, then all of a sudden I realized what our country is doing killing multitudes of babies each year might be along the same lines. Is there much difference killing babies or changing the sex so they can at least live? OK, both are sick, killing is worse.
