Olbermann Reacts to Allen West: ‘You’re Making a Jack*ss Out of Yourself’

On Tuesday night, The Blaze covered Allen West’s no-holds-barred e-mail to Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz. The letter, which was sent following Schultz’s House floor criticism of West’s stance on Medicare, called the Democratic National Committee chairwoman and congresswoman, “vile, despicable and cowardly” and wrote that she has proven she is “not a lady.” Now, Keith Olbermann is weighing in to defend Schultz with some his less-than-savory commentary about West.

Before reading West’s widely distributed letter on his “Countdown” program last night, Olbermann had a snarky cautionary note for viewers:

“Remember, this was written by a congressman — not a high strung kid who just got off his meds in the 10th grade.”

West signed the letter, “Steadfast and loyal” to which Olbermann replied:

“It’s unclear to who Mr. West thinks he’s ‘steadfast and loyal.’ It’s not to the United States. It’s not to democracy. It sure ain’t to sanity. Just resign, congressman. You’re making a jack*ss out of yourself…again.”

If you have something to say to me, stop being a coward and say it to my face, otherwise, shut the heck up. Focus on your own congressional district!

I am bringing your actions today to our Majority Leader and Majority Whip and from this time forward, understand that I shall defend myself forthright against your heinous characterless behavior……which dates back to the disgusting protest you ordered at my campaign hqs, October 2010 in Deerfield Beach.

Please stop posting anything from olbermann, mathews, madcow, or mahr. If you don’t post it absolutely no one will see it. Right now the blaze is the only information source that gives them any exposure at all. Please stop!

  No we’re not all in agreement, although I am hardly a fan of Olbermann. But he only stated the obvious. Congresswoman Shultz pointed out that the legislation in question adversly affects medicare recipients. Maybe you are unclear on the issue, but when a bill is debated, those in Congress are allowed to challenge others. That’s why it’s called a “debate.” And her disagreement was expressed in the least offensive way possible.
  
  No, Cain is hot tempered and thin skinned. He’s a loose cannon. He did sound like a child, name calling and saying, in effect, “I’m telling on you!” You guys should be ashamed of immature behavior like that, and instead you applaud it. You cheer for name calling, incivility and childish behavior from your elected officials, provided you support them. That’s pitiful.

  This is not the first time Wasserman Schultz has waited for West to leave the room before she attempts to attack him. This has some history between these two.   I believe that it’s appropriate to “watch the other hand” and monitor what the progressives are saying. Though it isn’t what we want to hear and gets our ire raised, it’s best for us to read or listen to these people of small stature, lest we forget that they are still around. They will always be here and spit their venomous words at those that are true to America and what we believe in.
  
  Part of the problem we have now is that a majority of America fell asleep and the media tilted to the left so far that it’s nearly horizontal. Then the fact that some people think that Stewart’s comedy act is actually news or even newsworthy.
  
  The Blaze does find the stories that they know will get us ticked off. That’s part of their attraction for me. Partly, it allows me to focus my anger with what’s been happening onto something more tangible than a general feeling that I have at times.
  
  On the other hand, not everything is noteworthy enough for the Blaze to put in front of us.
  
  Amusingly enough, as I’m writing to this, I just heard Genn mentioned this issue on his radio broadcast.

  JZS- don’t look now, but your racism slip is showing. You got West mixed up with Cain. Are you going to use the excuse that “they all look alike to you”, too? Maybe if you actually listened to what these gentlemen had to say and weren’t just looking at skin color you might learn something. I would vote for either/both in whatever combo for President/Vice-President in a heartbeat, because of the obvious content of their character, not the color of their skin.   i agree that they are disgusting. i also know they have small audience( anymore than one person watching is too many). that’s why i sometime watch what they are saying because they are influencing some people. they will be a bigger player the closer we get to the election, like they were last time. so when i know what they are claiming i can counteract it right away with the truth. they do make me sick with their hate!

  Oops, I got confused. Cain is the guy running for President on the anti-muslim, anti-freedom of religion platform. West is the guy who lost his cool in the military and violated military law and the Geneva Convention by threatening to kill a captive.
  
  Shultz simply spoke when her time came up. Why did West leave the chamber ALUCARD? SInce when does saying “This bill reduces Medicare benefits” constitute “mudslinging?”
  
  West doesn’t have the maturity to be an elected official if someone can’t disagree with him without him throwing a temper tantrum. If he thinks he can avoid having his opinions challenged by simply leaving the room, that’s certainly is a new rule that he’s made up simply to give himself an excuse for his anger.

  Soon Olbermann will become a bad memory never to see nor hear from him again. He’s doing his last gig and of course it’s algore’s network. I don’t know what will go first, the network or Olbermann; nevertheless they both will become a faded memory.

Olbermann must be dyslexic as he has definitely got this one backwards. Trust me, I’m from FL and she has replaced Alan Grayson as the most embarassing attraction. And, she will go the same way as Grayson in 2012.

  If only it were true. I live in her district and the Dems outnumber the Reps 2:1. If every Independent and Republican voted against her, Dems still have the edge. Reps here are very lazy voters, unlike the Dems who have a high turnout at the polls. Trust me, I have seen the numbers. Regardless of what she says or does, she is a Jewish woman and that takes precedence over all. She has the Jewish and gay vote locked up. She doesn’t even bother to campaign. It is very frustrating.
  
  The only hope of getting rid of DWS is if she runs for the Senate. But she is too smart for that. She has aspirations to be the next Pelosi and she is well on her way.
