Taliban, Hezbollah Operatives Busted in Federal Drugs, Arms Sting

In what has been described as the “growing nexus” between drug trafficking and terrorism, four men, including Taliban and Hezbollah operatives, were arrested Tuesday in a drugs-for weapons sting operation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration.

The alleged terrorists were part of a crime ring reportedly intent on supplying Stinger missiles, AK-47 automatic rifles and U.S. carbines to the Taliban and Hezbollah. According to an ABC report, Manhattan U.S. Attorney said:

“Today’s indictments provide fresh evidence of what many of us have been seeing for some time: the growing nexus between drug trafficking and terrorism, a nexus that threatens to become a clear and present danger to our national security,” Manhattan U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said.

At least two of the men arrested, Lebanese national Bachar Wehbe and Afghan national Tazar Gul Alizai, are currently on U.S. soil and are reportedly set to appear before a federal court in Manhattan.

Investigators told ABC that Alizai, an alleged Taliban member, was caught selling assault rifles and a sizable amount of heroin to an undercover DEA agent while in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Wehbe, an alleged member of Hezbollah, was nabbed along with two other suspected Hezbollah operatives by undercover DEA agents. The three were allegedly planning to use proceeds from their heroin sales to buy Stinger surface-to-air missiles, AK-47 rifles and M-4 rifles. Wehbe’s suspected Hezbollah comrades, Siavosh Henareh and Cetin Aksu, are apparently in custody in Romania awaiting extradition to the U.S.

According to ABC, the current busts are the third and fourth of its kind recently conducted by the DEA, including the case of international arms broker Victor Bout.

And on the broad scale, these sting operations are reportedly part of the DEA’s larger drug enforcement mission that has made it possible for federal prosecutors to tie in arms dealing cases that might have otherwise escaped U.S. jurisdiction.

  The other thing I want everyone to notice is his haircut. Today, many the criminals who are caught or busted have Obama’s haircut. What organization do they really belong to? Could it be one run by Obama? Creepy. Another hidden organization we do not know about? They are coming out of the woodwork. Heads up on this note. Be watchful.

AHA!! see they say “alleged” members of taliban and hamas. now why were they so quick to state for a fact that brevik was a right wing extremist? heres proof that what i said is true whenever a muslim gets caught up in terrorism, its always a alleged member, if theyre supplying drugs and guns to taliban and hamas overseas then they are terrorist not alleged

  It’s called “Political Correctness” you now as bar it that they offend anyone…but where does it say in the US Constitution that we are protected from ever being offended ?   I have to wonder if any of these arms originated with the orders of Mr Obama for the usage against our own troops in Afghanistan and Iraq. I do not put anything past this administration, in any way or shape or form, they are corruption to the point the Taliban are their brothers in the mirror.

I’m not sure if said munitions were a part of “fast & furious” but as far as giving weapons to known criminals just to see who pulls the trigger is absolutly insane. Follow the red brick road back to Obama & Holder and have them arrested!

Our multiple decades long war on drugs has allowed violent criminal gangs and terrorists to gain money and power. Catching some of the bad guys is good; but, there’s way more where they came from.
Truly stopping them requires taking the profit out of the equation. Doing that, requires drug legalization and regulation. Once the drugs start selling for pennies on the dollar, they can’t be used to by mass quantities of weapons anymore.
The profit center for terror nations is oil. If we start pumping out out of the ground more here at home, we can cut the legs out from under OPEC.
If we started drilling today, we would see prices drop, on anticipation, almost immediately, and drop again for real on completion 3-5 years from that. The sooner we start the sooner we can boost our economy and put a dent in the money pipeline of the middle east.
Nothing can happen without conservatives in power.
Vote in the primaries, vote in the generals, vote for candidates who say what they mean and mean what they say, and pick the ones who truly want to shrink the size and power of our federal government.
That basically means no more democrats for awhile. The DNC has been so totally corrupted that it’s unlikely any real conservative would have a chance in that party; and,we’ve had enough of the fakes.

  Why not issue real terrorist hunting permits? Charge a hundred bucks each, with no termination date, and there would probably be 40 million of us who would buy one just for the heck of it!.
  
  Of course that could cause some problems within itself since our current government considers all us gun-totin’, Bible-believin’ conservative taxpayers to be potential terrorists, and the leftists can’t afford $100 for a permit ’cause they’s spendin’ all they money on drugs, big-screens, cell phones and 20″ rims. I guess the government would have to raise taxes on the rest of us in order to pay for the permits for the dope-heads.

Lock them up and throw away the key and that’s still too good for them. They’ll get 3 square meals and better health care than I could afford as an honest, hard working citizen.
Still, they don’t deserve to see the light of day.
Also, I agree someone should get life for the Fast and Furious incident. If Holder didn’t know, he’s no good at his job and if he did, he deserves life in prison.

  What all of us need to prepare for are the terrorists that were sold guns from the drug cartels in Mexico in the Fast and Furious deal and use on us probably in the near future. They’ve already known that terrorists come to Mexico and then come up here as the illegals do. Keep watching Issa’s investigation…..pointing to Eric Holder as responsible….and maybe a miracle will happen and they can pin it on Obama too. They’re trying to keep it covered up but I think it’s falling apart & they have enough proof from other whistleblowers.
