MSNBC’s Martin Bashir Likens Boehner to Baby Who Should ‘Go the F*** to Sleep’

Well, MSNBC is proving once again that the term “journalistic integrity” might not apply to its network, or hosts. And the offenses keep getting more egregious.

This time, MSNBC’s Martin Bashir rather conspicuously suggested on his Wednesday program that House Speaker John Boehner is a “baby” who should “go the f*** to sleep,” and that the Speaker should let Democrats (presumably, the responsible “grown-ups” in the equation) deal with the debt crisis. Yes. He really did insinuate that.

To serve as the mouthpiece for the explicit words he himself is not allowed to utter, Bashir played a clip of the “Go the F*** to Sleep,” book narrated by actor Samuel L. Jackson. The book, obviously written for adults, is a parody of Eric Metaxas’ children’s book “It’s Time to Sleep, my Love.”

The excerpt, read by Jackson, goes something like this: “The whales huddled down in the deep, I’ll read you one very last book if you swear you’ll go the f**k to sleep.”

What follows is the transcript (and video) of Bashir’s rant where he applies the book’s premise to Boehner:

BASHIR: For some parents, Adam Mansbach’s book is not before time, a chance to tell it like it is. Children are hard work, sleep is disturbed, and even loving parents can sometimes crack under the pressure and swear at their kids. And isn’t that exactly how all of us feel about this ridiculously prolonged, tortuous, and confused attempt to raise the debt ceiling? One minute, Speaker Boehner says he has a bipartisan plan that will fly through the House. The next, his counting skills are exposed as entirely wrong by the Budget Office, and he can’t even rely on members of his own caucus, despite his bogus claims of bipartisanship. And this has been going on for six months, six months.

And the trouble is, just as parents see the clock ticking as they wait desperately for their child to go off to sleep, so now we have less than seven days to reach an agreement or trigger the first default in American history. It’s desperate and judging by the thousands of phone calls to Congress yesterday, Americans are becoming increasingly angry. And yet what do we hear today from Mr. Boehner? Another ludicrous lullaby that won’t pass through the Senate. And even if it got to the president, he’s already said he’ll veto it. But still, Mr. Boehner goes on, singing his nursery rhyme of more cuts, no taxes, of Cut, Cap, and Balance, of cut this, cut that, and don’t you dare raise revenues. I’ve been thinking, maybe it’s time for Mr. Boehner to hand over responsibility to Harry Reid and the president and for himself to go off to sleep.

And after Bashir wrapped up his “Clear the Air” segment, the follow-up show’s host Dylan Ratigan egged Bashir on to “just come out and say it!” To which Bashir replied ”I can’t use expletives on air, as you know.”

  All I can say is WOW!! Big problem America. As I’ve stated every day since I’ve joined the Blaze there’s no bigger issue facing America than our Jewish controlled Media. Until it is addressed there’s no hope for the future. For every 1 educated informed American there are 10 that believes everything the Media tells them.

The dems including the president have offered NO plans or even budgets. Who is REALLY failing to lead. Maybe the dems should listen to the PEOPLE… Cut Cap, Balance and no new taxes.   While Michael said NO and nothing happened the lil boy sat next to Michael shaking his head up & down as if to say YES over and over again…. And Ole Marty said nothing!

  This Bashir is a pig. I still remember when he set up Michael Jackson to give an interview after befriending him, the let the hammer down on him. I’m no fan of Jackson, but it was in poor taste what Martin Bashir did to him. He’s at it again. Get this man off our TV.

Maybe my comment won’t get deleted on THIS article.

All you need to do is perform a search: “History of US Defaults on Debt” and you’ll see it’s already happened several times in our country’s history. It’s not the end of society as we know it. It’s an opportunity to clean up our act and make things right.

Bashir has a vested interest in avoiding that scenario. He can’t keep peddling his doom and gloom if there’s no “crisis”.

Please folks, don’t fall for it. It’s an invented crisis to frighten you. They want your support so they can ram more garbage down our throats.

  But, not raising the debt ceiling does NOT mean default; it would NOT mean the gov’t couldn’t pay its bills. It would only mean that it would have to do so with actual, unborrowed money, i.e., with revenues, which are currently more than enough to pay the bills and continue necessary gov’t functions.
  
  This crisis is manufactured in order to make the GOP look like the bad guys:
  –There will be no agreement (because Obama doesn’t want one), the debt ceiling will not be raised by the “deadline”.
  –Obama admin. will claim they can’t pay the bills, thus ushering in a default.
  –Obama, under the pretense of default, will stop sending out Soc. Sec./Medicare/-aid payments.
  –Teary-eyed Obama: “I didin’t want to, but those evil Republicans made me! Re-elect me so I can stop their evil plan to kill granny and starve the kids! …Oh, and it’s Bush’s fault, too.”

Fox’s show “lie to Me” shows us all how to read a person’s facial expressions and body language. Just look at his face and you will see that he is quite angry about something. Very upset. It’s hard to even watch him or several others on msnbc. Why can’t he just calmly speak about his political points, if he has any. As Obama said in Arizona: Where’s the civility?
