New Super PAC to Run Rick Perry Ad Campaign in Iowa

A new super-PAC supporting Texas Governor Rick Perry’s hopeful presidential bid is releasing a statewide ad campaign in Iowa hailing Perry as the “better option” for president. The group Jobs for Iowa reportedly told Politico that it has spent just under $40,000 for two week’s of air time on Fox News Channel in the state. According to reports, the group is speculated to have the financial backing of affluent Texas Republicans who might like to expand their pro-Perry ad campaign to other states moving forward.

The goal of the ad campaign is allegedly to “help introduce Iowa voters to Rick Perry” and to “generate buzz” prior to the straw poll. A source told Politico that “it is no secret that a significant contingency of voters are uninspired by our current slate of Republican candidates for President. … Rick Perry is our best chance to beat President Obama.”

Politico reports:

In fact, the operatives they’ve retained to create and run the super PAC on the same day established a pair of linked super PACs in other states that have key early Republican presidential primaries, Jobs for South Carolina and Jobs for Florida.

Perry has repeatedly hinted that he’ll seek the Republican presidential nomination, but has said he’ll wait until after Labor Day to declare his intentions. He was left off the ballot for the Aug. 13 straw poll in Ames, Iowa, which is considered a key bellwether of the strength of presidential campaigns in the state headed into its first-in-the-nation nominating event, the Iowa caucuses.

Meantime, Texas fundraising sources allege one super PAC called Americans for Rick Perry reported raising $193,000 for Perry at the end of June, including a $100,000 donation from Dallas billionaire Harold Simmons. Politico states that ARP has raised over $200,000 since the report.

My problem with Rick Perry is the Trans Texas Corridor and the Gardisil debacle both of which they tried to ram down our throats. Has put on big show about the border and closing it but haven’t really seen any real action. He still resides in “The Peoples Republic of Austin”

  Parents in TX have always had the option to opt out of any immunization that they do not want their child to receive. The corridor was a better means of transporting equipment, food, gasoline, gas, etc across the country. This would have increased jobs for all of the states. However, it did not work out, but he at least tried. Yes, he still lives in Austin because he is still Governor. He is a conservative, and true he was a conservative Democrat over 20 years ago. I voted for him for election 3 times. He is a conservative, and Obama and the Democrats are terrified that he will the the GOP candidate. Consequently, Gov. Perry is being trashed on numerous web sites. If Perry is the GOP candidate, I will vote for him again!

  A “conservative” governor that would use executive order to MANDATE the HPV vaccine for young girls (which assumes they are or will be sexually active) is HARDLY someone I would support. The only reason that the new HPV wasn’t required………..a conservative legislature. And……then to highlight the campaign funds from the makers of the vaccine and the connections from Perry’s buddies to Merck. Good ‘ole boy politicin’ in TX.
  
  The highway……..sure, it had a great SPIN on its purposes and benefits. BIG Government…..can you say that?
  
  Those are just a couple of issues. My biggest issue that has caught my attention since his name has been thrown out………..his use of “religion” (his upcoming prayer rally at a big stadium) to promote himself politically. Where’s the honor?
  
  If prayer is indeed a true concern of Perry, how many times has he called on the people in his state to pray for relief from the drought and extreme temps? No need for a big rally, for preachers of questionable agendas……..just prayers in your homes, in your churches, in your own personal prayers. Just wondering……..anyone know??

  Well, I can find fault, sometimes more, sometimes less, with each of the candidates. I do not yet know who I will support and your concerns about Perry are valid. However, it is way too early to rule him out, and I think at the end of the day, I will choose the “most constitutionally conservative” candidate who is viable enough to beat Obama or Hillary who I think will swoop in at the 11th hour and be viewed as the saviour of the progressive elitist left.

  You can look through any candidates portfolio and pick and choose junk that you will disagree with.
  Bottom line, Perry is one of the better options out there right now.
  He has led Texas during the last 10 years and through a deep nationwide recession has managed to keep Texas leading the country in growth.
  THAT is what we need nationally.
  He’s not going to implement mandatory testing on your 6th grade daughter as POTUS, so you’re gonna have to let that one go. He’s all about states rights so as President, he’s going to focus on what the country needs and let the states take care of their own business. People need to start looking at the big picture. What do you expect to find, the perfect candidate?? Not gonna happen.

  I agree. You can’t be in 100% agreement with anyone unless you’re a sheep like the typical Liberal drone. I’ll take Perry over Obama even if I disagree with half of his beliefs. It’s better than having Obama whom I’ve disagreed with nearly 100% of the time. Killing Osama and keeping GITMO open are the only things I can think of in which I agreed with him.

  Indeed, the highways that are now tollways are an obstacle for Perry especially if more Americans find out about it. Additionally, my friends didn’t like having to pick up and move just because their house was in the way of building extra lanes on to Highway 183/121.   Perry is is by far the best candidate out there on both sides of the isle, I would hate to see Romney (Obama Lite) being rammed down our throat like McCain was in 08. By the time the primaries rolled into Ohio and other states in 08 the left and the LSM had already chosen McCain to run against the socialist, not this time. Perry will get the nod because he is the candidate with executive expierence to create the needed jobs for our economy and to clean up this mess that has been made by the Chicago community organizer and his buddy Stedman.

  That TRANS TEXAS CORRIDOR is a HUGE problem for me.. get emails from TURF (think that’s the right initials).. and I DON’T LIKE what I see.. he was with BUSH on this..and I didn’t nor do I support BUSH or his POLICIES.. It seems that IF we don’t watch it we will be stuck with another 4-8 years of BAD policy again.. Personally I have MORE FAITH in DONALD TRUMP or CAIN.. Seems to actually KNOW your candidates agenda you have to research their family tree.. Bush’s leads to a grandfather who supported the NAZI’S.. Obama.. well they are still trying to find out IF he’s who he says he is..seems his background is all over the place.. and as the saying goes mama’s baby daddy’s maybe.. even Kennedy had a sketchy background his grandfather was a bootlegger and his WHOLE family thought they were royalty where the laws didn’t apply to them..Maybe it’s time we looked BEYOND what they are saying into what they were taught by their families..

  I love most of what Ron Paul says, but he’s gone off the deep end lately, sounding way too much like a far left loon. His biggest problem though has always been his supporters, attacking other candidates and being incredibly rude to everyone in the new media, old media, and pretty much everywhere else.
  
  If I thought He had a real chance, I would do anything I could for him. But at this point his runs for president can only be for fame or fortune. He never shells out any money in ads, he doesn’t tour or campaign, he just doesn’t put in the sheer effort that is neccessary to win.

  We have to rid ourselves of Mr. Obama & Co.!! We have to have a candidate who can actually win the election. I am super conservative but I am also a realist. I see no way on earth that any of the declared candidates have a chance to win. In this case I would rather win than anything else. Turning our nation around is like trying to maneuver an aircraft carrier. It can’t stop on a dime & things won’t turn around for us overnight.

  Just because Rick Perry comes from a conservative state that has had job growth does not mean he is a conservative republican. He is real good at using all the correct conservative buzz words though. Hopefully people will do a little research about Mr Perry before they throw their support for him. First clue about his character is that Karl Rove and his circle of influence convinced him to change parties. So he changed from being a Democrat to a Republican not because his philosophy changed but because he was after political gain. People do not alter their core belief systems at a whim, one must have a defining moment to make such a change. Political and personal gain is not one of those moments. In my mind he is nothing more than a snake oil salesman.

Perry is a protege of and now heavily supported by Mr. Karl “Amnesty” Rove. He is a big-government RINO (Republican in name only). Tell you anything? We need to run a Conservative, and Perry isn’t, by any stretch of the immagination Conservative.

Perry is a politician…but I could vote for him.

I’d vote for a lump of coal or a quart of oil over
Obummer.

  LAKE JACKSON, Texas – According to a newly released survey from Harris Interactive, 2012 Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul splits the vote in half versus President Obama, doing better than a majority of the other Republican contenders. I don’t hate Mr. Perry…I’m just afraid another republican from Texas will get destroyed by the press. I can see it now, Bush III is what they will say.

  You’re absolutely correct. Way too many will vote against him ‘cuz he’s a Texas Gov. They won’t bother to listen to the message.
  
  I’d prefer Perry over Romney but I think he will coalesce the opposition against him & scare away the independents.

  Bush never fought back against the press. Always smiling, never defended his ideas. I just hope Perry will be like Perry the Platipus from Phineas and Ferb – fighting progressive crime.
