In another example of the increasing trend towards a nanny state, local authorities in Coralville, IA have shut down a 4-year-old girl’s lemonade stand because she does not have the proper operating permit.
According to the city ordinance, the 4-year-old must apply for a permit and get a health inspection.
A health inspection for a lemonade stand?
The AP reports, “An officer told Abigail Krutsinger’s father Friday that she couldn’t run the stand as RAGBRAI bicyclers poured into Coralville. RAGBRAI is The Des Moines Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa, which ended Saturday.”
Little Krutsinger was clever in setting up a lemonade stand for an event that would naturally drive up the demand for her product. A bike race requires constant hydration and she decided to fulfill a need in the marketplace.
But rather than reward her individualism and entrepreneurial drive, local authorities are applying to a 4-year-old girl the same standards they apply to people her parent’s age.
Abigail’s father, Dustin Krutsinger, said the ordinance and its enforcers are going too far if they force a 4-year-old to abandon her lemonade stand.
One can only hope that Abigail has hired a good accountant for when local authorities demand that she file her personal property returns.

The real problem with this though is that if someone with that few brain cells is controlling a situation like this, it had to have taken a lot of people with even less brain cells to put him there. Aug. 3, 2011 at 11:38amThe laws like this are being used to divide us we can’t have neighbors stopping by having lemonade and interacting with each other in public. That could be a foot hold that slowly unites a neighborhood.
I say everyone in the neighborhood open lemonade stands on the same day and when officers come offer to sell them a cup. If they try to ticket or close down any of the stand unite and drive them from the nieghborhood. It a sad state when the people who are suppose to serve and protect the public have been turned into mindless agents of the state. Enforcing laws that are clearly unconstitutional.

The government is doing everything it can to shut down EVERY employment opportunity for EVERY one out there. Driving down the opportunity for people to provide for their family.
And- the government is also regulating the farming industry to the point that no one can even grow their own food to provide for their family.
Exactly what is it that they hope to gain? EVERYONE dependent on the government for even the smallest morsel of food!

If you watch some of these young kid’s shows almost inevitably you will find that the parents are made out to be stupid, the old folks worthless, and the teachers neurotic idiots – who is left……ahhhh the government. What should happen is a mass exodus of our children from public schools – more private schools that are run like a business with measurable results. It’s a concious effort because their parents and grandparents are most likely not socialists or communists. It’s an intentional effort to counteract what parents are attempting to teach their children because what most conservative people would teach their children doesn’t fit with the socialist agenda.
