Obama Flubs Name of Town Hall Hosts — Calls Them ‘Waffles’ Family

Yesterday, it was Michele Bachmann who made a mistake on the campaign trail. Today it was Barack Obama. During a town hall meeting in Illinois, Obama thanked the “Waffles” family for hosting his visit. There’s just one problem: the name of the family company hosting Obama is Wyffels Hybrids Inc. The crowd quickly corrected Obama and he called himself “stupid” before blaming the mistake on not yet having lunch:

  I’m sorry, but there’s a point where I just stop trying. How can people honestly think this man is a good leader? No one’s perfect, and I’ll be one of the people who will admit that all the Republicans that are currently in the running have their flaws; but this man has made so many gaffes, mistakes, and horrible prejudgements that I can’t see how he could fool anyone into believing that he has anything resembling leadership. I guess that shows just what kind of voters we’re dealing with here: idiots.

  Totally agree SSENKRAD. Really, how many of these tolerant commentators have EVER called someone Waffle or Pancake or Crepe just because it’s close enough? Come ON… it really ain’t that hard! I don’t think the issue is that he made a mistake, because everyone makes mistakes. I think the real issue is that he walks like some arrogant ivy league scholar that thinks he is way smarter than us common folks and then he also blames everything on someone or something he can never admit he made a mistake!

  It’s still funny. I made the same mistake as Michelle once. I knew Aug 16 was the day they played all the Elvis’ movies I assumed they were celebrating his birthday. I was never an Elvis fan though.
