Legendary Singer Tony Bennett Tells Howard Stern That America ‘Caused’ 9/11

Legendary singer and performer Tony Bennett may find himself in hot water after what the New York Daily News is calling a “bizarre” interview with radio shock jock Howard Stern.

During his exchange with Stern, Bennett claimed that America “caused” the 9/11 attacks. The 85-year-old, who initially seemed reluctant to make statements on the matter, ended up delving directly into the controversy. Listen to the audio, via SharpElbows.net, below:

When Stern asked the singer what America was supposed to do with the terrorists who blew up the World Trade Center, Bennett responded:

“But who are the terrorists. Are we the terrorists or are they the terrorists…two wrongs don’t make a right?”

Stern, clearly a bit surprised by the response, said:

“They’re the ones who started with that plane flying into the World Trade Center. What do you do?”

At this point, Bennett said, “I don’t know about that. That’s another story,” referring to his belief that America may be responsible for the attacks. Then, he indicated that he didn’t want to delve into the controversial subject matter. But with some prodding, Stern was able to get additional commentary flowing.

Tony Bennett Tells Howard Stern That America Caused 9/11 Stern asked if Bennett is a conspiracy theorist who doesn’t believe that terrorists are responsible for flying planes into the World Trade Center. “No, they flew the plane in, but we caused it,” Bennett responded. “We were bombing them and they told us to stop.”

Even more bizarre than these claims, Bennett says that President George W. Bush admitted to him at an event back in 2005 that going to war in Iraq was a major mistake. The New York Daily News has more:

“He told me personally that night that, he said, ‘I think I made a mistake,’” said Bennett, who was appearing on the show to promote his new album, “Duets II.”

Bennett said he believed that the president made this revelation because “he had a special liking to me.”

Considering that the nation just commemorated the 10th anniversary of the attacks, these comments are particularly striking.

  When people get to be 85, they should not be making public statements. He’s (his brain) too old to rationalize and to logically process the muslim mobs all over the world carrying placards proclaiming they are taking over the world and the terror being unleashed all over the world, the suicide bombers designed (by Yasser Arafat) to be mostly for killing civilians, etc (remember this has been going on since at least 1979, but actually longer as the muslims never stopped fighting the crusades)(also note that they were aligned with the Nazis during WWII). It’s like Mr Conservative, Barry Goldwater, when he was too old to make any sense of anything saying that Bill Klinton was a good fellow.

  Also, on an interview for the BBC, Bennett said his mom’s mother was Jewish, which makes his mom a Jew, which makes him a Jew.

  The term is called “BLOWBACK” for the slower ones in the group. It is a term that the CIA coined, when they describe the reactions of people who are occupied by the US military, and have had their doors kicked in, children blown to pieces, and feel like they have nothing left to lose.
  It is no different than how WE would act if a foreign nation had invaded OUR country and was doing the same to us.
  If people can’t understand this very basic concept, then there is no hope for this nation.
  If the “terrorists” attacked us because we are “free and prosperous”, (as was told to us by our Govt.) then they certainly must be winning, because we are less free and less prosperous than we ever were BEFORE 9/11.

  “Jefferson” has it right, and so does Tony. This is also know as “escalation”, where one side takes the fight to a new level. Don’t forget Bin Laden was our friend and on the CIA buddies list against the Russians in Afghanistan. Then when we started to set up shop with bases in his home country of Saudi Arabia and other Arab states, he and his patriot friends (I say “patriot” because that is what we would call ourselves, if China set up bases in the United States) became known to the American people as Islamic terrorists. Since 9/11 we have killed hundreds of thousands of innocent Muslim people (their murders is known as collateral damage), so we have now escalated the fight to the next level. This is nothing new, and has happened through out history. The difference is now most Americans don’t understand it. They continue to believe the LIE that the attack on 9/11 was motivated by us being a “freedom loving country”. Say it enough times on TV and people will believe just about anything.   Wow .Thank you Tony Bennett. Finally 10yrs. later someone with the courage to speak the truth about this lie that on that glorious sept morn we were benignly minding our own business and these irrational muslims couldn’t bear the fact that we’re not muslims so they decided to attack[like that would make us convert].Finally after Ron Paul another person tells the truth how our policy of mass murder-via proxy dictators for oil and military bases, cold war support, sanctions on iraq where one million people-many children died and our unjust support of israel came back to bite us.As a result we did remove our bases fom arabia and started a war with iraq for another military base and another oil supply since alquada was made up of uppity sauddis bent on letting us know there could be consequences to US for our policies toward THEM.I just hope he dosn’t back track ,apologize and all that to appease the brainwashed gulls indignant with hubris at any narrative that doesn’t start with the morning you finally knew what it’s like to be bombed.

  What this old NY Italian is forgetting, if we had bombed Hitler, if the League of Nations hadn’t disabled the worlds ability to stop Hitler long before he became powerful, then old Tony would have never had to witness the horrors of war on the front lines of WWII. He claims the war made him a pacifist, and I can respect that, but he doesn’t seem to understand all those innocent people who died as the world battled the Germans would never had the League of Nations wouldn’t have tied everybody’s hands behind their backs so nobody could put the Nazi fire out.   One ofther thing. Tony says that he wants all guns to be gone, all made illegal. It seems all New Yorkers think they are the only people who exist and/or matter in the US. They don’t see a reason for guns so the rest of the US shouldn’t have them. They can’t understand that when I was a kid, we carried our guns on our shoulders as we walked home from hunting or shooting. Nobody ever said a single word because they knew we were all trained in using guns. It was almost a right of passage to have taken the hunter safety course and we would most certainly condemn any of our friends actions that weren’t safe while using a gun.   I wasn’t making the choice to play both sides by having Al-queda, mujadeen, and Osama bin Laden as “allies” during the Soviet-Afgan war. Which ultimately blewback in our face since we thought we could be just like Russia, without the consequences.

NO “We the People” did not cause it and Tony Bennet did not mean that, ‘We the People” did it.

  I think what Bennett was trying to say is there was a REASON the terrorists attacked on 9/11. It’s not like they were bored, and there’s nothing on TV, so let’s fly some planes into some buildings. This was POLITICAL … not RELIGIOUS. Religion was merely a tool used to brainwash people so they could be convinced to give their lives for the cause.
