SWAT Team Seizes AK-47s, Sniper Rifles From Brad Pitt’s Hungarian Movie Set

We want realism in our action films, but it appears Brad Pitt’s latest movie took it too far.

Hungarian SWAT teams have raided the film set of Brad Pitt’s upcoming “World War Z” because of a cache of live weapons, according to People Magazine. World War Z is an in-production zombie flick based on a popular novel.

To get that added edge of realism, it appears the movie’s prop master or armorer set Pitt and company up with AK-47s and sniper rifles that were not fully disabled. Some even had live ammunition in them.

The Hungarian authorities claimed they had to swoop in for safety reasons, stating that ”85 weapons were seized in Budapest at a warehouse because they were not fully inoperable as they were supposed to be.”

Police were apparently trying to avert a tragic incident similar to the one that occurred in 1998 on the set of the action movie “The Crow.” A loaded weapon made it onto the production set of that movie and subsequently killed Brandon Lee. He was the star of the film and son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee.

This time around, thankfully, there have been no injuries.

And hopefully Brad Pitt will still be able to stop the ravaging zombie hordes from destroying the world– using only blanks from now on.

Although it could not fire a projectile, it could emit a flash out of a pin hole in the muzzle. Lee was playing with the prop, held it to his head and pulled the trigger. The resulting gas jet homogenized his dumb brain!

  Actually, Brandon was killed by a stunt coordinator who ran out of dummy bullets so he took a real bullet, dismantled it (to remove the blast powder) and reassembled the bullet with an empty casing. They used THIS bullet (along with other dummy bullets) while filming the loading of the gun for the scene. When they cut film to remove the dummy bullets and place the blanks, the “homemade dummy bullet separated and the warhead got lodged in the barrel. When the actor fired the gun loaded with what he thought were blanks, the blast from the blank shot the lodged warhead out the barrel and put a 4 inch hole in Brandon Lee’s abdomen and killed him. He DID NOT shoot himself!

  @Oahujack I think the actor who you’re thinking of was Jon-Erik Hexum. He was playing with a prop gun back in 1984 on the set of the tv show “Cover-Up” when he shot himself. (During a break in filming, he complained of being bored, he held the prop gun to his head, and pulled the trigger. The paper wad from the blank had enough concussive force to shatter his skull and push a piece of his skull into his brain).
  
  Brandon Lee was killed because of slopping handling of the guns they were using as props.
  
  I think the propmasters and the safety coordinators for movies need to do a better job of educating the actors on how to handle prop weapons, and need to stop using live weapons as props for their movies.

If you’re going to use real weapons on a set then each one should be stripped down and double verified that it contains no live ammo. Dumb is just plain dumb.

This wasn’t really a film. The studio was a cover for Soros to train his revolutionaries how to handle deadly weapons and send them back here to the American street. Same jihad camp that trained mohammed Atta.

Actors are helplessly stupid. They are pictured handling guns all the time and thats where they make their millions, yet they have ZERO knowledge of firearm safety or how they work or operate. Actors are on my 1 to 10 scale of usefulness in society somewhere around 0 (zero).

  Every movie that uses guns has an armorer whose specific job is to train actors and see that safety protocols are followed. Actors have play people of all different professions. Good actors do what they can to research and prepare for each role, but you can’t expect them to pick up in a few months the knowledge that a professional acquires over a lifetime of experience. When something like this happens you have to put the blame on the guy who was hired because he was supposed to be an expert.

  Chet – It does not take a lifetime of training or professional status to learn firearm safety and operation. Fathers and Grandfathers have been teaching kids this sort of knowledge prior to 10 years of age for generations.

  Actually Chet yes I do. If my wife can learn how to handle and shoot a weapon safely in a matter of 3 day classes for three hour per class, Common sense and safely handling weapons doesn’t take months of learning, hitting your target with less than an inch groupings will take months of constant practice. I think that actors who will be handling even props should be able to take some time in their so called busy schedule to learn proper gun handling techniques. This comment of yours just shows how ignorant you are on gun safety. Hell I bet my 9 year old daughter can out shoot you and your hollywood friends. I know for a fact she knows how to handle a weapon better as well by just watching movies.
  
  I also find it ironic how you put hollywood on such a pedestal by binging in billions of dollars to one industry when the bankers which you hate has been doing that since the beginning of this country, and the banking industry has created a whole lot more jobs and wealth than hollywood has created. I bet you believe that government and not people create jobs as well. I know most of the hollywood types beleive that.

  I think it got rekindled when the CDC started warning Americans about the reality of zombies. Seriously. The CDC hired a bunch of people to dress up as zombies and walk around in public as a PSA.
