One day after President Barack Obama lashed out at Fox News correspondent Ed Henry during a press conference, saying “I didn’t know you were a spokesman for Mitt Romney,” the Romney presidential campaign released a new ad taunting the president back. Its title: “Nervous?”
The ad starts off asking the question, “What is the White House worried about?” It ticks off several possibilities: Jobs? The economy? Home foreclosures? Spending?
None of the above, according to the ad. Instead, it cuts to clips of Obama, top strategist David Axelrod, White House press secretary Jay Carney and former press secretary Robert Gibbs all saying Romney’s name. It finishes with Obama uttering the dig: “I didn’t know you were a spokesman for Mitt Romney:”
The Democratic National Committee quickly hit back with an ad of its own, titled “Temporary Little Band-Aids?” It blasts Romney’s statement during the most recent Republican presidential debate in which he belittled Obama’s proposed extension of a payroll tax cuts.
The video claims the money families would save could buy four months of groceries, seven months of gas or an entire year of electric bills.
“$1,500 might be a Band-Aid to Mitt Romney, but to a middle class family, $1,500 goes a long way,” the narrator says. “Mitt Romney: Wrong for the middle class:”
