Left-wing activist and Princeton University professor Cornel West was arrested Sunday while protesting on the steps of the Supreme Court about corporate influence in politics.
A Supreme Court spokeswoman told AP that 19 people were arrested Sunday afternoon after they refused to leave the grounds of the court. Photos received by Gothamist confirm that West was cuffed at the event, on the front steps of the court. Ann Wilcox, an attorney and legal adviser to the protesters, also told AP that West was among those arrested.
West attended the dedication of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial on the National Mall before joining the October 2011 Stop the Machine protest in Washington’s Freedom Plaza. The anti-war protest is marking 10 years since the start of the war in Afghanistan.
West, an active member of the Democratic Socialists of America, has been in the news of late in regards to controversial comments made during television interviews. On CNN last week, West said that Herman Cain should “get off the symbolic crack pipe,” and participated in a tense back and forth with Bill O’Reilly and Tavis Smiley on the O’Reilly Factor the next day.

Do you honestly believe anyone here takes you seriously? Pfffft! You liberals are a dime a dozen, and even at that you’re overpriced.
Get a clue, liberal: There is nothing new you and your kind have said and done in forty years. So about Pelosi? It’s not like she really rates, and that people like me are going to care about her, except trying to have her voted out. I doubt that will happen, but if Frisco vanishes into a sinkhole in the next major earthquake there, Nancy will be a person without a purpose. Much like now, BTW.
You are even less. I bet you’re not even a hit at parties (assuming you get invited in the first place). I bet you would bomb at a Halloween party, even if the invite card said ‘come as you are’.
You and your kind are nothing new, little girl. Maybe you sound good among the nattering nabobs of negativity on HuffPo, but that site is dying a slow painful death.

I along with many other posters here would like nothing better then to see the cops or national guard kick the OWS butts but if that should come to pass i think our city’s would go up in flames then they would soon after descend into total lawlessness and a civil war could not be too far behind for the control of our country and i am not sure that there are enough oath keepers to be able to guaranty the outcome we want and if we were to lose we would be stuck living under Obama’s rule for the rest of our lives and i for one just can’t even imagine a living hell like that can you.

Oct. 17, 2011 at 2:24amYou know that if they do not get some leadership into the mix here to focus these zombies this will get violent. Wouldn’t just be hilarious if they get coopted but someone like Ron Paul. From the shows I saw today about the crouds most are americans that will agree with a constitutional ideology and very well could be swayed by a constitutional conservative that is preaching about limited government intervention, elimination of corruption, ending the FED (the biggest bank of them all) and the legalization of drugs (mostly pot) and the ending of wars over seas. Putting an end to the “too big to fail” would go a long way with this crowd. The left will have had their revolution co-opted by a libertarian conservative (classic liberal) revolutionary. Wouldn’t that be just so perfect?
Think about it… The message and the objectives are very close to the same. At the very least they would be able to count on Ron Paul to actually perform on those issues and innact the restoration of the people’s freedoms. Just a thought.

In the end, who will end up paying for socialism, when other peoples’ money runs out???
The Democrats, and the Obama administration, are trying to run the country out of money, and they are using every means at their disposal.
It is all but clear, Obama does not want the unemployment rate to go down!!! He wants it to get even higher, so the Federal Government can addict people to other peoples’ money!!!! Redistribution of Wealth!!!! And when it gets to a high enough percentage, the “Die” will be cast, no more USA!!!!

Oct. 17, 2011 at 7:06am@TIFOSA, I suggest that you thoroughly dislodge your head from your fourth point of contact before making statements that are no more correct than the LSM makes when describing the Tea Party. The arrests of 10 to 12 persons at Pelosi’s home town office 5 November 2009 for unlawful entry, disorderly conduct, and refusing to depart the area when so ordered. While this incident did occur during a Tea Party rally these idiots were never identified as Tea Party members. I’ve gone back and read several online articles and while the broadcast media probably did try to call them Tea Party operatives at the time, the print media has not. To date, there have never been any Tea Party members arrested for illegal activities at a Tea Party rally or demonstration. Even if they were Tea Party members, then it is a single incident compared to HOW MANY ILLEGAL activities committed by your left wing loons? I’d say that just this year alone it reaches into the thousands. BTW, keep in mind that almost all socialist dictators that have taken over their countries almost always kill off the “useful idiots” like you. You haven’t the capacity to do anything more than make trouble and will be useless to them then.

You people have no clue what Socialist means. Jackasses.
Socialism /ˈsoʊʃəlɪzəm/ is an economic system in which the means of production are either state owned or commonly owned and controlled cooperatively; or a political philosophy advocating such a system. [1] As a form of social organization, socialism is based on co-operative social relations and self-management; relatively equal power-relations and the reduction or elimination of hierarchy in the management of economic and political affairs.[2][3]
Socialist economies are based upon production for use and the direct allocation of economic inputs to satisfy economic demands and human needs (use value); accounting is based on physical quantities of resources, some physical magnitude, or a direct measure of labour-time.[4][5] Goods and services for consumption are distributed through markets, and distribution of income is based on the principle of individual merit/individual contribution.[6]
Big Luke, I have never lived in a true socialist country, but I have lived mere kilometers from two. I have witnessed the moral destruction of their people. I’ve managed to talk with a few of their soldiers who also stated their distaste for their form of government. This form of government goes against the grain of humanity’s resolve. Please name me a single country that has gone fully socialist that did not boil down to a dictatorship that lead to the murder of millions.

Oct. 17, 2011 at 8:29amCan’t help but disagree with some of the things said here about MLK. As a child growing up in Alabama and seeing in the news a number of his marches here I came to the understanding that he was brave enough to stand up to the injustices committed upon a people merely because of the color of their skin. The trouble is that it was the great majority of Democrats who ruled every city, county, and the state itself were the racists. With no Republicans in the area or very few. I did find out my Dad was a registered Republican in ’64, but he was certainly a minority at the time. The only supporting help for MLK came from the socialists and the Communist Party, so he accepted it. Not saying this is right, but he had to have some financial backing, and I am not sure that he truly believed in those policies. As for the philandering, all that I can say is that he was human. Again, I in no way condone this. When compared to the likes of the racist Democrat Bull Conner who bore violence upon people who wanted nothing but to be treated the same as anybody else, I find MLK’s foibles minor.

Simply yelling and running away speaks volumes to your maturity and ignorance of the subject that

I’m interested to hear your platform as well. Also, Id very much like to know why you choose to represent yourself and the 99% with a Fawkes mask. seeing as how he was not trying to blow up GOVERNMENT he was trying to blow up THE LEADER because he believed a CATHOLIC should be in charge and not a PROTESTANT. (Not to mention Fawkes spending a good portion of his life in the military!!) nobody really has any idea what your protests are about, except perhaps your puppet master, but I dont think its about putting a specific religion in the white house. (or maybe you just weren’t sure which street to sleep on?)
So far all i have seen you do is pop by for a minute while hiding behind a mask. and not only did you fail to say anything of substance or even attempt to make a point, you hid behind a symbol that is so far detached from your apparent “platform” that you couldn’t possibly know what it represents.

Why aren’t you marching on Obama when he’s taken more money from Wall Street then any President?
Why aren’t you marching on colleges when they in fact structure the loans that keep you in debt?
Why aren’t you explaining your platform instead of avoiding them?
Want to change the world start with explaining your positions or are you afraid to be labeled a traitor to the founders beliefs and the way of life all Americans (including you) enjoy?

Oct. 17, 2011 at 7:18am@Darla – of course he will. The question should be: Will Obumbler take sides only with the blacks that are arrested and ignore the whites? After all it is not racist to arrest a white demonstrator, just act Eric. If a black man assaults a white man, its simple assault, if a white man assaults a black man it is a hate crime. Obumbler and Eric only enforce the laws they like, they break the laws they don’t approve of.
