Steve Jobs Told Obama in 2010 ‘You’re Headed for a One-Term Presidency’

Steve Jobs Told Obama in 2010 Youre Headed for a One term Presidency

A highly anticipated biography about secretive Apple co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs, written by Walter Isaacson, is slated for release October 24. The Huffington Post, however, managed to obtain a copy early and revealed some very interesting tidbits about the life of the Apple visionary — namely that, upon meeting President Barack Obama in 2010, Jobs told him, “you’re headed for a one-term presidency.”

According to HuffPo, the book states that Jobs was critical of the Obama administration for not being business-friendly and blasted the nation’s education system as it is “crippled by union work rules.”

Jobs, who insisted the president personally extend an invitation to meet with him, told Obama that “regulations and unnecessary costs” make doing business in the United States, as opposed to China, prohibitive.

HuffPo adds:

Jobs suggested that Obama meet six or seven other CEOs who could express the needs of innovative businesses — but when White House aides added more names to the list, Jobs insisted that it was growing too big and that “he had no intention of coming.” In preparation for the dinner, Jobs exhibited his notorious attention to detail, telling venture capitalist John Doerr that the menu of shrimp, cod and lentil salad was “far too fancy” and objecting to a chocolate truffle dessert. But he was overruled by the White House, which cited the president’s fondness for cream pie.

Though Jobs was not that impressed by Obama, later telling Isaacson that his focus on the reasons that things can’t get done “infuriates” him, they kept in touch and talked by phone a few more times. Jobs even offered to help create Obama’s political ads for the 2012 campaign. “He had made the same offer in 2008, but he’d become annoyed when Obama’s strategist David Axelrod wasn’t totally deferential,” writes Isaacson. Jobs later told the author that he wanted to do for Obama what the legendary “morning in America” ads did for Ronald Reagan.

Do these revelations about Steve Jobs’ opinion of the president surprise you at all?

Indeed, and even though Jobs wanted to ally with Obama, if it turns out his prediction of Mr Obama being a (may it be so) one-term President I will toast the memory of his prediction being on the money with a Dr Pepper.

Amen! Jobs wasn’t perfect and not really sure what he could have seen in Obama. Especially when it came to being innovative and visionary. Steve Jobs wanted a more business friendly government relationship but instead got slapped. In part, our society electro-tools transformed the world and the internet carried the message. But looking back, would Jobs still have the same opportunities today as he did when him and Wozniak started in the garage, I think not. I think Job’s had his regrets and don’t think for a minute he was a lefty. At least not much left.

His views on Obama did surprise me. I respected the “Thomas Edison of Cupertino” for his brilliance and his unique way of looking at things that enabled him to develop so many innovative products, but I always thought he was a liberal through and through. Steve Jobs was right, so was Romney and Bachmann. The prediction of Obama being a one term president came from the candidates, Steve Jobs, and Obama himself.

Romney took this prediction and ran with it. Obama predicts his own demise: http://www.thedailycandidate.com/video/2011/oct/romney_ad_hes_right.html

I always thought that Steve Jobs was a visionary. His vision of a one term Obama is insightful. Of course, he also made mistakes. He supported Obama originally. Sort of like his computer products. The Mac was a hit, but he had a blunder called the Lisa though the rest of his products were hits. He was entitled to an occaisional blunder, like supporting Obama and creating the Lisa.

That’s why, if Romney gets the nomination, I’m just staying home on election day. I’m tired of voting for douche-bags like McCain and there is no bigger douche in the running than Romney. I’m feeling your pain, but here are the facts. When a conservative doesn’t vote, that constitutes a vote for the Obamessiah. You just stated that Romney is better than Obama (just a little bit) and I agree. Personally, I don’t think Mitt will get the nod. He’s stuck at the same 25%+/- that he’s had since day one. When Bachmann gets out, when Santorum gets out, when Perry gets out (I’m not sure that Perry’d be any better than Romney), and whichever is left between Gingrich and Cain gets out…..Romney will get NONE of those votes. Cain or Gingrich will get all of them. The 25-28% who are going to support Romney are already in his camp and have been from the beginning. Mainstream, left leaning, middle of the road…..you know, we used to call them democrats. Now they’re moderate republicans. (democrats are now what we used to call socialists) Romney has all the support he’s going to get. Cain or Gingrich, I can support either candidate will get the rest. The 5-6% of the paulies will try to get a third party ticket (Obama would be delighted to see them succeed) and they’ll write him in even if they don’t……idiots. Willing to take four more years of Obama rather than vote for anyone else besides Ron Paul who cannot win. Gingrich is far and away the smartest and most qualified, albeit with some baggage. Cain’s chances depend solely on how well he is willing to learn and sell his 9-9-9 plan. If he doesn’t start doing it soon, his support will slide to Newt. H

Interesting comment on Starbucks. After going to their stores every day for years to get my morning coffee, I stopped going there and try to frequent local coffee shops as much as possible. When I saw that MSNBC Morning Joe coffee bean crap on the shelf – that was the last of Starbucks getting my business.

Agree, I didn’t get why Jobs was willing to work in the trenches for the Obama campaign, but was aloof and critical of Obama too. Unless this has something to do with Jobs positioning Apple as a government ally, perhaps hoping to avoid the problems Microsoft faced a few years ago…

You all forget – marxism is a replacement for religion, so the fact that it’s irrational for someone of Steve Jobs’ financial status and intellect to want Obummer to win a second term is to ignore the fact that liberalism is an emotional outlet for people who don’t want to acknowledge the existence of a God. Marxists/progressives/liberals worship government, and the act of supporting a fellow marxist is, to them, the equivalent of tithing to a church, fasting or some other act of sacrifice. They really see it as a moral act that offers them salvation. If you look at Warren Buffet’s life, you see someone who has been cold, ruthless and a pretty crappy human being; his support of Obummer is supposed to cleanse his soul (forget real sacrifice, like apologizing to those you’ve injured.) One wonders what skeletons Jobs had in his closet that he was running from.

Makes sense: Jobs understood the fundamental principles of Capitalism and how to make them work. He was an innovator, and an inspiration…unlike our President, who only inspires his opposition to get him out of office. Well…what do you know? President Obama IS inspirational!!!

Reminds me of another story of opposition to the NWO and their Federal Reserve.
Some people believe the titanic was sunk in 1912 because the wealthiest people on the planet at that time, that were opposed to, and could stop the progressive agenda were on that Ship. This video clip shows how the Bushes’ roots in all this, runs deep. Look at the back of the dollar bill. Why is there a NWO logo on the left ? It says ‘The Great Seal’ under it. On the left, is the U.S. seal that says ‘Of the United States’ ? Obviously the Federal reserve is the NWO. If you can’t redeem dollars for gold like the old days, then that means it is just paper, and can be deemed valuable or worthless by a unaccountable person, or entity.

That is another risk for America right now. As long as I know, the FED is owned by 12 private banks. Each one has a sit in the Board of Directors. The acts are private, and nobody can look into their files. Even the name has its own problem because is not owned by the Federal Government. I also remember something went wrong the moment when the Congress approved the law creating the Reserve. I’m not sure about this, and maybe some Blazers can tell us more.

On the other hand, not backing the printed money with gold was a terrible decision made by Nixon. The rest of the world followed USA, and the financial risk of this, spread to the whole world. For America being what it was, and being the standard for the most trust worthy country in the world, was not a problem having the opportunity to print all the money they wanted to.

For the rest of the world, the risk was (is) that if it’s known that the government is printing money out of the thin air, the money loses the face value on it, and you can’t buy the same things than before with the same bill. The value of the assets and the credibility of the government evaporate, and the inflation goes wild rising along with the prices of everything. If the value of the money is 1/3 than before, you’ll need $60 to buy what you bought before with $20. The speculation spreads as well, and that is when an entire country goes to bankruptcy. If the government doesn’t have gold, then can’t trade with the rest of the

You are bereft of any ratiocination. I said the Bushes run deep in the Progressive movement. You are so politically uneducated as to think our Country is being lost to the left or the right. The Global Elite pose as democrats and republicans and fool people just like you. Can you tell me why it says New World Order in Latin on the left side of the Dollar Bill ? They call it a ‘Dollar”, but it is a private bank’s ‘NOTE’. You can not redeem it for gold, so it is paper. I can’t stand the Bushes, and I loathe Obama. So you assumed incorrectly. I bet you didn’t even know that George Bush and Obama Are Cousins. You seriously need to edify yourself before you bloviate uninformed rhetoric here. I embarrassed you once before and apologized. What Jobs didn’t quite understand is that Obama wanted no assistance from him because Obama had his own version of what business should be in this country. Obamas’ pattern has been to go the opposite direction from those who wanted to help the administration get the ecomomy on a growth track. The president being a socialist, community activist and public union supporter does not have the desire to accept input from succesfull business people as it dosen’t aid in his quest to socialize America, the way he invisions it should be. Big government and government union jobs are his agenda not private sector growth. When will people open their eyes and minds to understand what this [so called] president is doing to our beloved country? I also don’t understand how and why so many buy into the socialist ideology and re-distribution of wealth scheme. Most in government have any worries about their financial positions and never will even under a socialist economy. If this country abandons capitolism for socialism, well I suspect it wouldn’t take long before these liberals will be praying and begging for the return of a free market when they discover they have no money, no food and no happiness. Never in my life did I imagine the United States would be on the verge of colapse! Truley a shame…

I read his promises and they were too good to be true (I was a little more liberal then than now, but not stupid). Did Obama really lie during the 2008 campaign? He promised a “fundamental transformation of America”. He said “spread the wealth around. It’s good for everybody.” He promised “hope and change”. I don’t think he lied. I think he told the truth. The problem is that no one knew what he meant and the media was too dishonest to challenge him on what he meant. So people chose to believe whatever they wanted to believe he meant.

because the orders of the left cover any and all that are not conservative – from Communists and Socialists, to National Socialists and hippes at heart, like Jobs.

Jobs always saw himself as a counter-culturalist, pissed off, because he was too young to really make the protest gangs of the 60s. By the time he was ready to hit the streets, it was all over and he had to resort to selling devices that allowed people to steal phone service and electrical blueprints from HP. Jobs for example, was stunned when orders he tought would number in a few to a dozen, ended up being in the hundreds and thousands for his printed bircuit board that Woz had made, based upon HP designs. Designs HP execs at the time had no idea had been lifted from their own labs and shops. The rest is as they say, history.
