Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal Crushes Competition to Win Re-Election
(AP) Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal on Saturday easily coasted to a second term, winning in a landslide election after failing to attract any well-known or deep-pocketed opposition.
The 40-year-old Republican overwhelmed nine competitors in the open primary, where a candidate wins the race outright if he or she receives more than 50 percent of the vote.
“I will use every day, every hour of these next four years to make Louisiana the very best that we can be. I don’t believe in resting on our past accomplishments. I don’t believe in taking time off,” Jindal told a packed hotel ballroom of supporters in Baton Rouge.
Jindal piled up $15 million in campaign cash from around the nation and attracted no Democratic challengers with statewide name recognition or fundraising heft. He’s had consistently high approval ratings since taking office in 2008.
His win comes amid the virtual collapse of the Democratic Party’s clout in the state. In the current term, Republicans have gained control of all seven statewide elected posts and both chambers of the legislature.
The first Indian-American governor in the United States, Jindal is considered by some a possible presidential contender in the future. He recently published a book and regularly appears on national news shows, but he ruled out a 2012 run.
Still, his brand of conservatism and refusal to raise taxes has resonated outside the state.
The race that received more attention in Louisiana was the one for lieutenant governor, because the officeholder is next in line should Jindal step down because of his national political ambitions.
Incumbent Jay Dardenne, who took office after a special election last year, faces off against Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser. Like Jindal, Nungesser was a vocal critic of the federal response to the massive Gulf oil spill.

Posted on October 23, 2011 at 1:46pmDid Jindal sign this stupid bill into law that makes buying second hand goods with CASH in his State illegal? That doesn’t seem to be a conservative policy to me.

Posted on October 23, 2011 at 1:39pmI am fleeing the People’s Republic of Californiastan to live in Louisiana, USA. California, once truly the Golden state, has seen its schools go from number 1 to 49th due to the power of the teacher’s unions.
Some schools are not in English and teach math in Base 12. Illegal Aliens vote, drive, receive massive amounts of state aid, and victimize American Citizens.
The taxes are high, unemployment is high, the state is in debt, the state pensions are unsustainable and good luck owning a gun.
It is the Canary in the Socialist Coal mine and the canary is dead.

Obama won because he got the mass populations of his followers in metros to the poles. He had supporting clubs, groups, and churches bus or take people to the poles. What songs did they sing on the way? We non-lib’s need to take that away from the progressives. Most rural areas are conservative in most states. We own the rural areas. We need to go after the Metros with force to remove his people from offices and take back America.
Chat, Chat, Chat It is all talk! To win takes action not just whining about stuff online. Obama focused his efforts with Islam’s and China’s money on the places with the most concentrated votes and how to get those votes to the poles! Where he got the most bang for their bucks. WILL HE REPEAT THIS? Is over 2 trillion in bailout funds missing or lost by our Government? Does the term “We’re buying votes today folks!” mean anything? Want a fifty inch “energy saver” tv? Check out the appliance give-aways at the energy companies in CA, like PG&E Energy savers program, or free home weatherization program for the poor.. FREE SOLAR? Oh he, “OBAMA” has it going on alright! He bought Voters and now he is keeping them with free stuff, we need to get a grip on reality.
“JUST a COMMUNITY ORGANIZER” = Never under estimate your opponent.

Posted on October 23, 2011 at 11:27amIt’s taken me YEARS to convince friends/family in California that
DEMS/ OBAMA /THIS ADMINISTRATION IS THE WORST EVER…
FOR THE NATION & WORLD.
I believe I’ve MADE A BREAKTHROUGH to them – and they have
COMMITTED TO VOTE OBAMA / DEMS / ADMINISTRATION OUT!!!!
I have been able to CAUSE THEM TO LQQK AT what they SAY –
THEN CHECK WHAT THEY DO….as Obama & Administration ALWAYS
SAY ONE THING ON THE FRONT SIDE – BUT DO THE OPPOSITE ON THE BACKSIDE.
Small step, YES….but EVERY VOTE IS NEEDED.
EVERY EYE NEEDS TO BE OPEN, CLEAR AND WATCHING!
Next UPHEAVAL – making sure we have an election. :)

Posted on October 23, 2011 at 10:57amTEXANPATRIOT what you don’t know is that Nevada has had a surge of immigration from California primarily from the San Fransisco and Los Angelas area since the 80s. When I lived in Nevada it was a strong conservative state. Ronald Reagan originally wanted Paul Laxalt from Nevada to be his running mate but went instead with George Bush in order to draw the Texas vote. There wasn’t much philisophical difference between Reagan and Laxalt. A lot has changed since then and Nevada has been Californicated by the liberals who have abandoned the lefty Mecca in favor of better states. I’ve since moved to Texas after Reid came to power. I tell everyone I meet that Texas is a barren wasteland and all the golden things they say about Texas are out and out lies:::::wink:::: I’d hate to see what happened to California happen here in Texas. So TEXANPATRIOT, cut those native Nevadans some slack.

Posted on October 23, 2011 at 6:23amI have always been a fan of Governor Jindal, however I am troubled by a new law he signed making it illegal to use US currency if you deal in second hand goods. The law is so broad people who have a yard sale twice in one month would only be allowed to accept checks, money orders or electronic payment. They would also be responsible for getting name, address, dob, and driver license numbers. My paper money says good for all debts private and public. No where does it say I need Bobby Jindals permission.
