Young Boy Saves His Mother’s Life By Shooting Drunken Attacker With a BB Gun

It’s going to be a happy Thanksgiving for one Bellingham, Washington, family after a young boy took decisive action to save his mother from a vicious attacker.

Police say 11-year-old Kobe Sturgeon shot the man with a BB rifle after he drunkenly attacked his mother in the family’s home. Authorities are calling the young boy a hero for taking action during such a dramatic and chaotic incident.

The man at the center of the story, Paul R. Newman, 45, rents a room in the house. After he came home inebriated on Tuesday morning, authorities say he became enraged over the fact that his room was messy. So, according to authorities, Newman kicked down a bedroom door and began to choke Kobe’s mother.

Kobe quickly intervened and hit Newman with a wooden board from a book shelf. When this didn’t work, he then shot the man in the face three or four times with a BB rifle. This freed the mother and son to escape to a neighbor’s house, where they were able to call police for help.

“He kept on hurting my mom, so I went and grabbed my BB gun and I said, ‘Get off my mom. Get off my mom,’” the young boy said in an interview with KOMO-TV. “And then I shot him with my BB gun.”

Newman was taken to the hospital and arrested for investigation of assault and making death threats. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Future NRA member and all around solid citizen. Well done Kobe, you remembered the first rule of being a man. Nobody hurts your women, mom, wife or daughter, while you can do something about it. You did and that speaks volumes.

  Somebody locate his address. Let’s all kick in a few bucks and buy him a nice Marlin 60 in .22lr for him to learn on. It’s a good size for kids to learn on. I got one to teach my 5 grandkids with. Ammo is cheap… for now.

  I’d be glad to chip in,but after looking to see what part of the state he was in I would be afraid some left wing judge would have him doing 5-10. The last thing the kid needs is a record for exercising his right to defend himself, family and home. But if you want sign me up.

  Cyclops. What makes you think he has not already had good training at home? That is why you teach your kids from day one about “gun safety.” You do not have to go to some special “safety” class to be safe. Put a helmet on and Happy Thanksgiving.

What an idiot mom renting a room to a man and making her son unsafe as well as her. What an idiot Kobe’s dad is leaving his wife and kid so that they were unsafe and did not have enough money.

  Yes I did jump to a lot of conclusions. The world is not safe for women. For example, when a sex crime happens, the news states that the “99 sex offenders living within 3 miles of the crime scene were interviewed.”There are many safer options than renting a room to a man especially if you have a child. I think because you are a man, you don’t understand.I am always on guard even in parking lots. But, you are right that I jumped to a lot of conclusions!!

At a much younger age I was an urban hunter – using a pump up Daisy of some sort (most of my friends had Crossmans). You pump either of those up about 10 times, load in a pellet and they’re almost as powerful as a .22.

Good job kid. Next time try a .12 gauge. That way you won’t have to shoot so many times.
