Walking Christmas Tree Beats NYC’s Ban
Scott LoBaido is clever man. He found a way to bring Christmas trees back into NYC’s transportation hubs. LoBaido designed and wore a Christmas tree costume!

After being sued for allowing Christmas decorations in bus and ferry teminals, New York City imposed a ban on Christmas trees and other holiday decorations. Scott was not pleased about the ban and managed to find a way to bring the Christmas spirit to the Staten Island Ferry terminal.
You have to love the persistence of some people.
Scott told the NY Daily News that he spent about $400 on the supplies to make his tree costume. Mr. LoBaido’s website tells us that he is a self-taught artist and 4th-generation New Yorker. His artwork focuses on the American flag and in 2010, LoBaido painted the “world’s largest mural” of the Stars and Stripes. The mural covered 150,000 square feet and required 900 gallons of paint.
(As a NY-er, a Christian, and a patriot, this writer appreciates Scott’s work.)
In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Many thanks to Scott LoBaido because he has sparked a light in me.

Posted on December 24, 2011 at 5:04pmHow much does it cost the tax payers every year to have decorations put up and taken down?
How many of those decorations come from china?
How much of that goes into the garbage at the end of every year?
Consider this ban one of the most fiscally sensible thing any local government has ever done.
Use your own damn land, money, and time putting up decorations, it is not the job of the government.

Founded by who? People like Thomas Paine who were deist? Tell me, at what point did our founders seize money from citizens of the United States for “christmas decorations”?
“I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish church, by the Roman church, by the Greek church, by the Turkish church, by the Protestant church, nor by any church that I know of. My own mind is my own church. All national institutions of churches, whether Jewish, Christian or Turkish, appear to me no other than human inventions, set up to terrify and enslave mankind, and monopolize power and profit.”
–AGE OF REASON — Thomas Paine
“As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion,—as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen,—and as the said States never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.â€
–Treaty of Tripoli – Article 11 – ratified by the United States on June 10, 1797

No, they can not. This is a republic, the minority has rights but you are wanting this to be democracy (aka mob rule).

Posted on December 25, 2011 at 4:41amZurich, I hope Obama is the main cause of anti Christian anything, but I fear it is more, and sadly, signs of the times. Once upon a time, society was tolerant, and if a none Christian saw a nativity, Christmas decorations or Christmas trees in the public, and they didn’t prescribe to Christianity, they were at least respectful of other things outside of themselves, but unfortunately, society has become very narcissistic and selfish. It is all about a particular person, or group and their agenda, and anything outside of this is not acceptable. What I see in society is that we are regressing from being descent human beings to a more primitive state. One only needs to see the so called Thanksgiving and Christmas sales and see how savage and inhuman people have become toward each other. The fact that people who are mainly on welfare, are fighting like animals among each other for a 180 dollar pair of Nike shoes say a lot about what our society has become. It ‘s astounding really.

“It is all about a particular person, or group and their agenda, and anything outside of this is not acceptable.”
Okay, so if a Muslim group wanted to have Ramadan decorations hung all over a courthouse you would be in favor of that? Or if some Hindus wanted to have Pancha Ganapati celebrations in your parks that would be a-okay with you? If you answer anything other than “yes, of course” then you are a hypocrite and a bigot.
“The fact that people who are mainly on welfare, are fighting like animals among each other for a 180 dollar pair of Nike shoes say a lot about what our society has become.”
Let me guess: you assume they are mostly on welfare because almost everyone pictured was black, right? And people wonder why people think the rightwing is full of racists. If that was not the root of your assumption then by all means correct me. I would be thrilled to learn what other common feature they all have that leads you to believe they are all on the government dole.

Thus, since it is a legal and offiicial holiday it seems to me that the government can decorate for Christmas as it does any other legal and official holiday throughout the calendar year.
One certainly can debate government paying for decorations, but if Christmas decorations are banned then decorations for all holidays throughout the calendar year should be banned.

So, are you implying Playland Amusement Park, the only government owned-and-operated amusement park in the United States, had spent tax dollars on Islamic decorations? If so this is NOT what government should be doing. (Let alone opperating an amusement park.) Btw did you miss the part where they banned headgear (including hijabs) on rides?
Quote from article “daylong event arranged by the Muslim American Society of New York.”
So far I do not see the governments involvement in this religious celebration.

Posted on December 25, 2011 at 7:14amNATOR says, “I dare any American to come on my property and mess with my flag or Christmas decorations.” Who, what, when and where did anyone suggested that hordes of atheist heathens made any suggestion or had taken any action to restrict the use of PRIVATE property for any Christmas displays? Key here is “on my property” The Staten Island Ferry Terminal is public property, belonging to a diverse group of citizens, not all of whom share your traditions. For that reason, the choice to not install decorations is the best choice, it saves the decoration dollars and the costs of litigation so all citizens are better served by opting out of the holiday in public spaces.
At YOUR home, at YOUR business, on YOUR car, and in YOUR church you can put up any kind of display you want, you can have dinosaurs next to the manger and Ray Comfort dancing a jig for all I care when it’s on YOUR property. Get that key concept there? YOUR property.
Public property is to be shared by all, including non-believers.
Did you know that churches hold over ONE HUNDRED BILLION DOLLARS in real estate in the USA? That’s $100,000,000,000 untaxed by communities all over America, that’s property taken off our county or cities tax rolls, a deficit you must make up. Property taxes provide schools service like fire and police and infrastructure like water and sewage systems. This real estate held off tax rolls uses those services just like any other business does but they do not pay their fair

Don’t let it get to you. Those were typical Blazer responses. The average person who posts to this site will spew vitriol at anything and anyone who doesn’t fit into their pathetically narrow views. People here typically hate anything that isn’t written in the Bible and anyone who is even a nanometer left of the most distal eastern point on the spectrum. They are all about individual liberty, just so long as you’re not atheist, gay, Democrat, or Muslim. If you even suggest that we cut off foreign aid to Israel, you are automatically branded “un-American” (lolwut?). And they consider everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING, that is wrong with this country to be the direct byproduct of Obama or some other Democratic President.
The Blaze is a great website. It’s just a shame that it is absolutely ruined by its community.

Posted on December 24, 2011 at 11:38amone thing for the new 100% AMERICAN President to do in Jan 2013, an immediate order completely protecting America’s Christmas and Hanukkah traditions. so no anti-American communists/ atheists/muslims can sue to have the sight of them removed.
