(AP) — Do you have change for a million-dollar bill?
Police say a North Carolina man insisted his million-dollar note was real when he was buying $476 worth of items at a Walmart.
Investigators told the Winston-Salem Journal that 53-year-old Michael Fuller tried to buy a vacuum cleaner, a microwave oven and other items. Store employees called police after his insistence that the bill was legitimate, and Fuller was arrested.
The largest bill in circulation is $100. The government stopped making bills of up to $10,000 in 1969.
Fuller was charged with attempting to obtain property by false pretense and uttering a forged instrument. He is in jail on a $17,500 bond, and it isn’t clear if he has an attorney. He is scheduled to be in court Tuesday.

Jan. 1, 2012 at 8:14amHe can make bail, no problem!
As long as the jail has change for a $1,000,000.00 bill!
Of course, if the “federal” reserve bank keeps printing money and monetizing our debt, they will have to START printing $1,000,000.00 bills!
Loaf of bread? $50,000.00.
Gallon of gas? $72,000.00
I just hope nobody is on a fixed income, or they’ll only be able to buy a chicken bone for their $1,000 social security income.

Jan. 1, 2012 at 8:20amCan’t understand why everyone knocks a Walmart shopper??????? Does it have to be a union shop for you to buy in?
I can afford to shop anywhere I damn well please, but why would I shop somewhere that has it’s prices inflated to double the MSRP, the clerks are a bunch of whiny yankee liberals, who know nothing about the product they are selling, and if they are not on their union negotiated 2 hr. break.
If I need something real quick and want it to be available when I get there, not have to wait two weeks until it is ordered, I pop into Walmart.
Just in case you aren’t smart enough to figure it out, nothing from Walmart shoppers rubs off.
Plus why do you carry a wimpy 9MM, be a real man and carry a 45 ACP. If you are going to carry, then man up and carry a real gun.
Gotta go, I’m off to Walmart to pick up some food items at a great price. That’s how I got all the green backs, shopping smart.

If it wasn’t for the dollar stores and Wal Mart, I couldn’t afford a lot of things I need. You see, I lost my job, and do not choose to exist on the taxpayer dime. At 57, just try to find a full-time job…So I have 2 part-time jobs.

Jan. 1, 2012 at 8:40am@Choctaw25.. Why would you even take offense to that statement ? I shop at walmart all the time and it didn’t bother me one bit. I know how I act in and out of public, always respectful of others because that is the way I want to be treated..
What is wrong, low self esteem that you think you will be lumped into the stereotype of the typical walmart shopper ? For that you have to have an IQ of no more than 55 and the skin color of chocolate.. Do you fit that description ? If not then the comment shouldn’t have even phased you ..

Jan. 1, 2012 at 11:58am@DEMINT.DISCIPLE; No offense was taken in the statement, just a valid observation from a retired wealthy white senior citizen, who spent 33 yrs. as an 06 (know what that is, being sarcastic) SFer 1 zero in Nam and a Mensa tested IQ above 145. Sold an 85M a year business and retired to Demint territory. So I don’t fit your jump to conclusions theory. You are exactly the point I was making, people making assumptions of someone as being stupid if they shop Walmart. That is the very valid observation I was pointing out and you reinforced my theory. Too many people sit in quick judgement of others, that they have no knowledge of who they are or what they stand for.
Look at what the good old white boy Republicans in Demint territory are doing to try and make Gov. Haley look bad. She’s better than ANY of the options we had at election time. But, they are bound and determined to teach the little uppity B****, who stole the election from one of them, a lesson in good ole white boy South Carolina politics.
They are going to sue her for requesting the lazy A** democrat public sector employees to have an upbeat response when answering the telephone when you call State Gov. offices. Is that all the elected officials here in SC have to think about?

The amazing thing is the police take this seriously and actually arrest them – when these people are obviously mentally ill.
Sad….

In local news: OSHA has shut down a small foundry here that has been in business for almost 200 years. 30 more people out of good jobs. And all the castings they made will now be made in China.

Dec. 31, 2011 at 8:43pm“The customer allegedly shopped at the Lowes Boulevard Walmart in Lexington, N.C., picking up a vacuum cleaner, a microwave oven and other products, which came to a total of $476.
When he whipped out his payment, he handed the cashier a $1 million bill, and said it was real.
Store personnel called the police after the man insisted of the bill’s legitimacy…
There has never been a $1 million currency, the highest bill on record was printed was for $100,000 and was used from Dec. 19, 1934 through Jan. 9, 1935. This bill was not put into general circulation, but only used between Federal Reserve districts.
Currently the $100 is the largest bill in circulation as government discontinued large bills such as $500, $1,000, $5,000 and $10,000 bills back in 1969 as these monies were not commonly used by the public.
Seems million-dollar frauds are not as uncommon as you’d think. Earlier in the month a donor tried to pass a fake $1 million bill in a Salvation Army kettle, and this past summer a Pennsylvania man was charged with trying to use a fake $1 million bill to purchase marijuana.”

I doubt the 15 electoral votes from North Carolina will have any effect on the next election.
But speaking of BBQ the best is from Luling, Texas. Just so happens that Rick Perry is from Texas.
NC BBQ did not even make the top 10 list!
