It’s Iowa Day.
Most of the political focus in America is on Iowa as that state’s caucuses will happen tonight, kicking off the 2012 Election season. But what do we know about the state?
For all hours of media time spent on covering Iowa’s caucuses, how much do we know about the state and the three million people who call it home?
When you hear “Iowa” do you automatically think, farming? Or are you like MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell and think Iowa is “too white, too evangelical, too rural… .”
You might be surprised to know that the largest source for personal income for Iowans is manufacturing. The state does have a healthy farming community, but it also has more golf courses per capita than any other state.
Some folks in the Hawkeye State have taken exception to how the rest of the country perceives them. Paul Benedict, Scott Siepker and a group of young filmmakers have just released a short YouTube clip to explain the real facts about Iowa.
Please enjoy “Iowa Nice.” [Content Warning: this is the "clean" version of the video, but a mild language warning still applies.]

Jan. 3, 2012 at 9:41amInteresting and confusing video? Who cares about Iowa? So this guy is doing a video to promote Iowa? Forgive me if I could care less about who had the first female lawyer or how many acres a farm consists of…….I do care about Iowa making billions from that great “ponzi scheme” global warming and using food for fuel……..

Jan. 3, 2012 at 10:10amSorry you are mistaken. I grew up in Iowa (then left as soon as i graduated from HS) and the farmers where told by the government, what they can plant, how much they can plant, and what they will get paid for the crops. They receive billions in subsidies (tax payer dollars) so the cost of food and gas will stay low for the rest of America. The farmers have no control over whta the government does with the crops after they harvest.

Jan. 3, 2012 at 12:09pmBefore you repeat B.S. about food for fuel, know this: The ones eating the grain raised in the midwest are animals not humans. Food grade crops are raised by contract only, for a premium, because of the special handling envolved. If it weren’t for grain based fuel in this country, under the current policies, fuel prices would be even higher. This would make groceries even more expensive, as most of the cost involved is transporting them is the fuel required to get them to the store. Your welcome!

Jan. 4, 2012 at 1:06amWe don’t receive as many subsidies as we used to due to prices going up. However, 15 years ago an acre of corn could be planted for $120. Today that same acre which produces about 40 to 50 more bushels of corn costs almost $400 to plant. Instead of subsidies it now has more to do with conservation programs.

All of this tells me one thing, Ron Paul wins Iowa – and they already know it.

Jan. 3, 2012 at 10:39amYour absolutely right. Born and raised in Iowa, conservative, and a business owner. Part of the problem is you don’t see career conservative activists like you do lib-tards. You only hear from the likes of this gas bag. Or the actions of our former Gov NutSack (Vilsak) now the Secretary of Department of Agriculture. His great act of signing a bill (on the 4th of July) that allowed felons the right to vote. BTW, there was already a process in place if a felon wanted to restore their right to vote.
Iowa City is a breeding ground for this type of crap. This guy is just a lib trying to get Iowa labeled as a lib state. Focusing on the intellectual aspect of Iowa (which is great), but he did fail to mention Rockwell Collins (aviation science and communications) who’s hardware and software keeps most of today’s military aircraft from dropping out of the sky. But as a lib he probably didn’t want to draw attention to our impact on military assets. He also neglected the fact that when they legalized gay marriage we voted the judges out who were responsible.
The guy is a douche plain and simple.

The final solution is the governments total immersion and control over our lives to save us from -ourselves-
War on terror, War on drugs, War on America, War on Common Sense, War against everything.
We are being duped. Peace by means of War? Seems to make sense. NWO lie.
War through Peace is the means of our destruction, says it in the bible. Is it not apparent?

Heard that last night on Bill O’s program, and I agree with Bill, Paul will lose to Obama by a large margin if he is the nominee! By the way, his ideas of Statism, pulling inward and isolating America might sound intriguing, but that is exactly what Hitler promised the Germans at the very beginning, we all know how that turned out.

The Federal Convention convened in the State House (Independence Hall) in Philadelphia on May 14, 1787, to revise the Articles of Confederation. Because the delegations from only two states were at first present, the members adjourned from day to day until a quorum of seven states was obtained on May 25. Through discussion and debate it became clear by mid-June that, rather than amend the existing Articles, the Convention would draft an entirely new frame of government. All through the summer, in closed sessions, the delegates debated, and redrafted the articles of the new Constitution. Among the chief points at issue were how much power to allow the central government, how many representatives in Congress to allow each state, and how these representatives should be elected–directly by the people or by the state legislators.
PLEASE NOTE THE NEXT SENTENCE
The work of many minds, the Constitution stands as a model of cooperative statesmanship and the art of compromise.

Ron Paul would be as big a disaster as Obama!
Many countries have tried isolationism and had to give up on it.
Look at China and similar countries; are they more successful now, or when they were isolated?
And Paul certainly doesn’t understand the symbiotic relationship between America and Israel.
