Alleged ‘Islamic Extremist’ Arrested in Bomb Plots Against Tampa Targets

(The Blaze/AP) — A 25-year-old man from the former Yugoslavia was charged with an alleged plot to attack crowded locations in the Tampa area, including night clubs, with a car bomb, assault rifle and other explosives, federal authorities said Monday.

The U.S. Department of Justice announced the arrest of Sami Osmakac, whose first appearance in federal court was scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday. Below is a photo of the suspect courtesy of Fox News Insider, which called him an “Islamic extremist”:

Sami Osmakac Arrested For Alleged Bomb Plots Against Tampa Targets | Called Islamic Extremist

Authorities say Osmakac, from Pinellas County, is a naturalized U.S. citizen who was born in the former Yugoslavia. He has been charged with one count of attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction.

FBI agents arrested Osmakac on Saturday after he allegedly bought explosive devices and firearms from an undercover agent. The firearms and explosives were rendered inoperable by law enforcement. The federal complaint says that shortly before his arrest, Osmakac made a video of himself explaining his motives for carrying out the planned violent attack.

Federal officials say a confidential source told them in Sept. 2011 that Osmakac wanted al-Qaida flags. Two months later, the federal complaint said, Osmakac and the confidential source “discussed and identified potential targets in Tampa” that Osmakac wanted to attack.

Osmakac allegedly asked the source for help getting the firearms and explosives for the attacks, and the source put him in touch with an undercover FBI employee.

On Dec. 21, Osmakac met with the undercover agent and allegedly told the agent that he wanted to buy an AK-47-style machine gun, Uzi submachine guns, high capacity magazines, grenades and explosive belt. During a later meeting, Osmakac gave the agent a $500 down payment for the items.

“According to the complaint, Osmakac also asked the undercover employee whether he/she could build bombs that could be placed in three different vehicles and detonated remotely, near where Osmakac would conduct a follow-up attack using the other weapons he requested,” the press release said. “The undercover employee said he/she could possibly provide explosives for one vehicle. Osmakac also allegedly said that he wanted an explosive belt constructed to kill people.”

On Jan. 1, Osmakac told the agent that he wanted to bomb night clubs, the Operations Center of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and a business in Tampa, Florida.

Osmakac told the undercover FBI agent that he wanted to detonate a car bomb and use the explosive belt to “get in somewhere where there’s a lot of people” and take hostages. During that meeting, the agent told Osmakac he could always change his mind about his plot.

“According to the complaint, Osmakac immediately shook his head in the negative and stated, `We all have to die, so why not die the Islamic way?’ ” the press release stated.

Ron Paul wouldn’t come to his defense but he would want to apply Article III Sec. 3 of the Constitution, it’s the Treason Clause, you should read it. It covers terrorists very nicely.

This is psy-ops mixed with false flag terror.

My local news station reported that some pipe bombs were found in a nearby suburb. They apparently had a rash of pranksters blowing up mailboxes…(could be kiddy stuff, could be Feds, who knows at this point).

The news station (19 Action News) reported that story and then IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED with this bomb plot story to intentionally make false associations between the two and try to instill FEAR in the community.

The Bomb Squad came out and blew up the so-called pipe bomb right in the middle of the community anyway. Who even knows if it was real pipe bombs at this point, the FEDS will detonate an empty toilet paper roll just to SCARE you.

No law can strip our rights. The government just codifies it’s refusal to RESPECT our rights. Why doesn’t Congress just write a one sentence bill and get their agenda fully done with one sentence? — “We hereby void Constitution.” I mean, really!

Lets not forget that under his watch we also got Bin Laden which the GOP couldnt do. Ghadaffi is gone as well and the pirates in Somalia wont dare mess with us again after Obamas order to have them killed

So the GOP not keeping the nation safe got over 3000 people killed, under Obama we have less than 50 in the same time frame. Again keeping us much safer than the GOP ever could . Yet they claim to be the national security party, lol.

Obama didn’t stop any of the attacks you mentioned such as the underwear bomber or the Times Square Bomber. They were thwarted by terrorist incompetency; the Times Square Bomber simply used the incorrect PM/AM designation on the timer. Thus, your theory doesn’t hold water.

As for Bin Laden, Obama used the intelligence methods first enacted by the Bush Administration (and condemned by Obama as a senator).

Thank you. Terrorists and wanna be terrorists are caught and detained because of the policies Bush enacted. We got hit on 9-11 because of former President Clinton’s ineptness and stupidity.Remember the plan was enacted years before Bush even took office. After 1993 and the first WTC hit we should have been watching and waiting. The only thing Clinton did was watch and wait for Monica. Bush had to do something that would help keep us safer long after he left office. And this current freakshow that the zombified Obama hoof sniffers elected, only criticized and spoke out against Bush. Like a good wine or an olive tree, it takes time to produce good results. Maybe all that brush clearing on that Crawford ranch, helped Bush come up with some of the ideas that have now come to fruition in the war against terror. Obama has enjoyed those fruits without so much as even a thank you to the former President. And by the way @Nevermind, any President can order a hit apparently. And that’s what happened. No need for the Constitution under King Barry. He just assasinates at will. If Bush had done it without Congressional approval, there would have been riots and the Senator from Illinois would have been a loud voice calling for impeachment. Barry is a stinkin’ hypocrite and it’s sad that he will happily take credit for the previous administration’s ideas and policies fighting terrorism. Barry is leaving us with a much more radical middle east than Bush did. A new mess

No thanks to Hussein. The CITIZENRY thwarted those attacks. The Hussein admin let the jihadists into the country.

The anthrax attack was not an Islamic, so don’t bring that one up. If you are going to include 9/11, then fault a stupid liberal for not wasting UBL when he was a viable target, not even after the first WTC attack. Also blame Clinton for leaving Bush in the dark about national security threats and having an inoperative security system.

=> “Lets not forget that under his watch we also got Bin Laden which the GOP couldnt do.
      —–
Bush deserves major credit for that. The info that ultimately led to UBL’s capture came out of Gitmo and enhanced interrogation. Also, taking out UBL was carried out DESPITE Hussein. Barack was “missing in action,” playing golf while Operation Geronimo was being crafted. Hussein HATED the idea, but he went along because he needed a political victory badly. No photos. More importantly, 22 SEAL Team 6 members were targeted and killed as a result. Who was in charge when that vile retribution took place, lamebrain?

There have been other successful attacks against our military in Little Rock, AR and Frankfurt Germany (not US soil, but not a war zone either). (CONT.)

That said, there is one very important element that has changed since Obama rules. Unlike Bush, the commie has gotten rid of his enemies unhindered by a hostile media, the entertainment industry, rabid left-wing activists or Congress. He has expanded the Patriot Act, practices rendition (torture by proxy), still has Gitmo open, interrogates terrorists before reading them their Miranda Rights, has increased drone attacks tenfold, and so on. It is fairly easy to get rid of your enemies if you are accountable to no one, and Barack does as he darn well pleases. If he consolidates power in 2012, his arbitrary rule of this once Constitutional Republic, We the People will feel his ire.

“Sami Osmakac was against the Muslim community as much as he was against everyone else,” Shibly said. “He had been banned from several mosques in the area. He had extremist views. CAIR has always encouraged people to report anyone with violent or extremist views.”

“The perseverance and diligence of law enforcement caused this investigation to conclude in a successful manner,” said U.S. Attorney Robert E. According to the article you linked, the FBI was alerted by a Confidential Human Source. That can mean a snitch or simply an undercover agent. All we know is that the man had been banned from several mosques, so the Muslim community knew he was a jihadist and this had been going on for quite some time. Why wasn’t he reported by the imams early on?

First, I think the Hussein admin statement that the Muslim community cooperated in this JIHADIST’s — arrest is pure, unadulterated BS. Second, he is not an extremist. Ron Paul is an extremist. “Extremist” is not the appropriate word, Blaze. Why do you continue to play into the Obamamedia’s hands? The MSM & our gov’t keep telling us how peaceful all these muslims are….my ASS! It’s time for any real, peaceful muslims to stand up & scream for the beatdown of other muslims who do this. Their silence shows us that they’re ok with radicals.

He was kicked out of several mosques because of his behavior, and the Muslim community alerted the police and FBI and worked with them to get him arrested. They stepped up and made sure the proper authorities knew to act. Kudos to them, I say.

Did anyone hear about the 2 egyptian nationals who “unexpectedly landed” their plane in Gainesville, FL (2 hours north) this weekend?

Yeah, they are here in this country only for flight lessons…

I wonder if CAIR will address this new Muslim attacker whe they go to Washington for MLK day.

Dr. Paul is this man a product of the bad old USA or just another crazy, evil Muslim who hates everything not of Islam?

But why not have a special day in Washington to hold up Muslims and help eliminate Islamophobia. This is a crazy world. We have good reason to be anti-muslims.

I live in Pinellas County and the local news here is reporting that he was banned from two mosques in Tampa and was considered a ‘lone wolf’. The Exec Dir of the local CAIR said Osmakac has no support in the local Muslim community. What a bunch of crap!

Isn’t it amazing how they are always called a lone wolf when there are literally millions of them?

The Exec Dir of Cair also said “that If the allegations are true, he wanted to thank the FBI for preventing a violent attack. However, he also cautioned that he wanted to make sure the plan was something initiated by Osmakac and not something urged on by law enforcement to make an arrest. If he was instigated by the government, we’re going to be very concerned about that.”

WHAT???? They’d be concerned about him being set up? So it might be the government making radicals out of otherwise-peace-loving Muslims? GOOD GRIEF!

Kosovo is a crime-ridden Muslim country. It used to belong to the Ottoman Empire. There’s a tiny Christian minority there. I feel sorry for them.

Islam is an infection, not bound to one ethnicity…in order to stop the terrorism, we must put a stop to Islam!

And then it is wondered why Americans don’t like muslims, don’t trust them and want them out of our country, there has been far too many of these “Lone wolves” They are all lonewolves when they need to blow people up, hardly would look too obvious if a gang of them tried this.
