‘Most Surreal Thing I’ve Done’: Snowboarding at Night in Ghostly LED Suit

Snowboarding on French Alps in LED Suit at Night

It took three men, a suit made of lights and a snowboard to make this haunting footage of the snow-covered French Alps at night.

Watch as this snowboarder seems to float down the mountain with the only light source being an LED-covered suit:

The idea was brain-child of Jacob Sutton, who is a fashion photographer and filmmaker. Jacob Spatcher created the light-covered suit and Willian Huges performed all the moves on the mountains in the dark and in freezing temps. Nowness.com has more from Sutton:

“I was really drawn to the idea of a lone character made of light surfing through darkness,” says Sutton of his costume choice. “I’ve always been excited by unusual ways of lighting things, so it seemed like an exciting idea to make the subject of the film the only light source.”

Huge described the experience as the “most surreal thing I’ve done in 20 years of snowboarding.”

Only draw back is the light is all around you so you can’t see down slope, until you come upon that lone pine tree covered in green LED lights and have to make a sudden turn to avoid a collision!

Reminds me of something Funny Bunny from Rabbit in the Moon would do. Except there are no sparks flying from his head. And Funny Bunny was 32 years old back in 2000 when he was doing the PCDJ gig and pretending to be 25 years old. Sorry Bunny…. you are very old now. No way are you surfing in the dark moon light.

  Given it was night and he could only see a foot and a half in front of him, I’d say he didnt do too bad. Don’t know if you’ve ever been on a slope when its pitch black but its scary as hell.

Pretty cool! I hope he knows the route down the mountain because he could easily run into a tree or steep drop off. Reminds me a bit of Tron.
