Memphis Cop Caught Having Sex in Squad Car After Act Is Broadcast Over His Radio

Video may have killed the radio star, but one cop’s radio might have killed his career.

That’s because the Memphis police officer was caught having sex in his squad car after the act was somehow inadvertently broadcast over his police radio. The department isn’t saying how that happened, but sources tell myfoxmemphis.com that there is now a recording of the incident since all police communication over the radio is recorded.

The station reports:

There’s no word yet on which microphone our sources say broadcast Officer Dion Anthony having sex in his squad car while on duty. But there is a recording because Sgt. Rudolph says every radio communication is recorded.

“Anytime you communicate via a handheld or console microphone you want to remain professional. Our job is to make sure all officers follow procedures. In this instance it’s possible he didn’t follow proper procedure,” Rudolph said.

Anthony joined the force back in July 2007. He works the 2pm to 10pm shift out of the Mount Moriah precinct. The controversial broadcast of him having sex in his squad car went out between 8:45 and 9pm Monday night. Our sources say it was on an open channel that could be heard by not only the 30 to 35 officers working that precinct. But by anybody with a police scanner.

“The allegations do surround inappropriate communications through either his handheld or console mic,” said Rudolph.

The officer has temporarily been relieved of duty pending the result of an investigation.

What I see here is a suit against the police department for invasion of his privacy rights, supported by the police union and the ACLU. Of course there will be a settlement including payment for lost wages and emotional stress. Stress counselors will be standing by for the other officers. Last but not least, the Reverend Sharpton will be on the scene to claim racisim!

  Doubtful, consider that the sex was broadcast via his radio and since police channels are public, then there can be no “invasion of privacy”. That would be like you or me making a webcam video and putting it on youtube, then trying to sue youtube for “invasion of privacy”. It doesn’t work and it doesn’t make sense in a legal standpoint at all. It all boils down to “conduct unbecoming” if anything, so he will probably lose his job. He could have got away with it if it weren’t for those meddling kids and their dog.

Ya know, I’m really tired of people attacking the police forces. Yes there are ‘bad apples.’ You can’t avoid that…especially when you put people in a position of authority. But, they are necessary. We have to have a police force or we will have no order. Please show more respect for those who keep you safer from crime.

I’m guessing this probably wasn’t the first time this happened and it’s pretty safe to say if any citizens had radio scanners it wasn’t only his department that heard his fireworks!!!

  He had probably just radioed in to the communication center to let them know that he was taking a late lunch before the end of his shift & he inadvertently forgot to turn his microphone off in his haste to start eating. His next mistake was partaking of his lunch in his squad car rather than some other, ahem, more suitable non-taxpayer-related location. My understanding is that he was willing/able to wait until the end of his shift…she…was not.

An on duty cop having sex in a patrol car and we are worried about proper use of a radio? Are kidding me? How about derilection of duty, use of country or city equipment for personal use, malefeasance, leaving his post, conduct unbecoming of and officer, non of that comes to mind we are worried about his damn radio? This guy should be fired and stripped of his right to own or carry weapons and banned from reapplyin EVER. This is just plain stupid, a radio problem my eye.
