Debbie Wasserman Schultz Denies Comparing Voter ID to Jim Crow…Even Though She Did

The Media Research Center’s MRC TV caught Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz in what may have either been a case of selective memory or a simple lie when they caught the Florida Congresswoman at the Rayburn House Office Building.

When asked by reporter Alicia Powe if she’s compared GOP attempts to institute Voter ID laws to the Jim Crow period, Wassermann Schultz walked away after saying, “That’s not what I said.”

Except for the part where she not only did, but apologized for it the same day that she did.

Jim Crow was the wrong analogy to use. But I don’t regret calling attention to the efforts in a number of states with Republican dominated legislatures, including Florida, to restrict access to the ballot box for all kinds of voters, but particularly young voters, African Americans and Hispanic Americans.

  The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like Barack Obama with the Presidency.
  
  It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama Presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their President. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Barack Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the Prince of Fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince.
  
  The Republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their President.

I have to show my ID all the time, when I buy something with a credit card or check, at the bank, when I buy beer or smokes, when I get pulled over by the cops and when I go to dmv. Okay, I hear cracks about AR all the time, and how “backward” we are. But you have to show ID to vote in this state, unless you are well known to the folks running the polls in small rural areas, and they call you by name when you walk in and they’ve known you all your life. So really??? We are “backward”? You can’t write a check most places without showing ID or use a credit card without showing ID in places where they are conscientious about such things. WHY should you not be required to show ID in order to Vote in an official election. As far as Wasserman-Shultz, if her lips are moving, she is lying. Just like Obummer. I have seldom seen a more vile, hateful person than she is. I hate to even see her face show up on Fox News…or anywhere else. You all think if we ignore her, she’ll go away?

I’ll say it for Debbie: Voter ID laws are Jim Crow pushed by racists who want to deny people the right to vote and to discourage participation in the political process in this country.

American politicians have always been against the idea of universal suffrage and have fought against it for centuries. If it was up to them the only people who would be allowed to vote would be white male millionaires and billionaires. They wouldn’t even let their own wives vote.

  care to take a stab at showing any reason why needing an ID is discriminatory? You have to have one to drive, by tobacco/liquor, write a check, get a bank account, get 99% of most jobs…the list goes on and on. A state ID costs like 7 dollars in most states, so why is it so hard to get? While you are thinking about a good spin-off into one of your liberal talking points, I can give you about a dozen reasons as to why showing a picture ID is NECESSARY to making sure that the left doesn’t commit the voter fraud it was able to get away with last time around…let me know when you are ready to have a legit debate about this issue and Ill gladly rip you apart

  You need ID to get a drivers licence, buy booze, cash a cheque, etc etc etc .. But you think no ID for voting.. I guess that will cut down on the dead people voting for Dems, and that’s what you fear..

  For someone to think that Black people, latino’s or any other Minority is not able to get an ID seems to be racist in itself. I as a person who think all people are equal feel that these minorities are perfectly able to get an ID as long as they are a leagal citizen.
  
  By saying these people are somehow being discriminated againts because they may not be able to get or use a valid ID is really belittling and if I was among any of those groups I would be offended that the Dems think that I would not be able to do something as simple as get a state ID.
  
  Most Minorities are productive working members of our society and are perfectly able to produce an ID or get one if they need it. They don’t need a group of White Democrats standing up for them insinuating that they don’t have or are not capable of getting something as a basic ID.
  
  Its no differenct than having test dumbed down for Minorities. If I was black and found that a test was made easier for me I would be insulted because it would be clear that people for some reason think I am not as smart as my other fellow human beings.
  
  All it takes is for one illeagal or “dead” person to cast a vote to cancel out your valid leagal vote. That goes for both Dems and Repubs.
  
  If we are to believe that all people are equal then we must put faith in others that they can handle the most basic requirements of living in a modren civil society.

  Back when people did not travel more than 15 miles from home. Back when everyone knew everybody in their community. Back when people voted in front of everyone declaring their vote for a candidate. We have 350 million people living in this country and only 305 million citizens. We have ubiquitous id’s available and in use by all levels of society. They are issued anytime someone recieves public funds or services.
  Only illegals or resident non citizens will not have this id.
  Know one can name a neighbor, identify a neighbor or vouche under law they are of legal age and eligible to vote. Registration is a necessary and essential tool for voting. In a land of freedom where public officials from President to Dog catcher are held in very low trust it is more important than ever to shore up the process of the Republic.
  The motor voter law is very bad and I did not trust it 40 years ago. Now voting in my state is all by mail. Do I have confidence—No. The proudest day of my life was showing up at the Grange and voting with my neighbors who I knew then and they KNEW me. Now I vote by mail and wonder if my vote was counted.
  Photo ID should be mandatory. It is not onerous to protect our most important right.

ID’s are required for a lot of things today. In Chicago you have to show ID to purchase drain cleaner.
These same people show ID to by Colt 45 Malt, why not show ID to vote?
