Marines Against Obama? Cover of Marine Times Leads With Story on Opposition

The Obama administration’s thorny relationship with the Marines, especially in the wake of decisions like the one to end “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell,” appears to have just gotten much more thorny. Buzzfeed notes the cover of a magazine devoted to Marine Corps issues, which should make several Obama administration operatives nervous:

The Washington Examiner has a story summarizing the article, as well as a video previewing it. Both follow:

According to the article, of the 792 active-duty troops and mobilized reservists who responded to this year’s Military Times Poll, 44 percent said that they disapprove of the way Obama is handling his job as commander in chief.

The article cites hot button issues such as repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell,” relaxing restrictions of women in combat, and steep budget cuts, behind the disapproval numbers.

The report highlights the recent controversy over a Tea Party Facebook page operated by active Marine Sgt. Gary Stein.

  @ Loki, I feel that way. The only problem is that this nation does not enjoy a military coop and nor should it. I for one do not want to become a martyr fighting against my own brothers and sisters who have been deceived and who are being controlled like puppets. No one I know wants to die for the cause or worse, go to prison and have their life made into a made for TV movie airing on NBC into perpetuity. Unfortunately, I do fear that we are not doing our duty to protect our Constitution from the threat that is present in our current political system, especially in the form of Barry Soetoro, a man born of an American mother and a Kenyan (British subject) father whose American citizenship was denounced by his mother when she moved to Indonesia and had her son raised by a trans-sexual housekeeper and brought up being taught the virtues of the Muslim way of life in an Indonesian public school system.

  It should be a law in these United States that everyone should learn to spell CORPS. It’s not all that hard. Marines make history every day and are constantly the focus of news articles. “Corp” is an abreviation for TWO words…corporal and corporation. CORPSE is a dead body, as you already know. Folks, the PS is silent ! Since nothing much makes sense in this country anymore, let’s make an effort to at least get CORPS right. Yeah, I know.   This is the Officers oath of office:
  
  I, _____, having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God.” (DA Form 71, 1 August 1959, for officers.)
  
  Note that the enlisted oath has the section concerning the obeying of orders from POTUS and the officer’s oath does not. Officers are governed by UCMJ. ART. 88. CONTEMPT TOWARD OFFICIALS.

  It actually take a small worry off of my shoulder to know that our marines aren’t mindless drones that would obey orders like good little Nazi. I wouldn’t say make a regualr practice out of it but certainly weight the Constitutionality of orders given especially under the NDAA bill.

  Most of those Marines being expelled from the service by Obama’s cuts will not be able to find jobs. I hope they band together like brothers and open training schools to teach Americans who want to learn, modern military tactics, modern weapons, and use of captured foreign weapons. We civilians have purchased enough ammo and weapons in the past few years to equip 4 or more infantry divisions but what we need is training. Its coming people because the US Congress has declared war on us and Obama has declared the US to be a battle zone.

  Everyone Knows That The US Postal Service Will Be Ordered Not To Deliver Military Absentee Ballots Until After The Due Date.
  
  Everyone in the US Armed Forces needing to vote by absentee ballot should do so through their family members. Have your family member obtain a ballot, mail it to you, and you return it to the family for hand delivery to the election board. If not, your vote will not be counted.

If the radicals surrounding the Administration get their way, we could see a “round up” of Conservatives.   It would be good if all Congressmen just joined the military – instead of just sending them to fight endless and meaningless undeclared “wars.” If it were up to some of these neocon chicken hawks, the Marines would be storming Iran right now.   So weird, last night I was talking to my daughter who’s one son is in the Corps, and her second one goes to San Diego in June. Seems the Marines are talking and paying attention to what’s going on. Seems the new thing is they are making a vow to never harm civilians in the US and will refuse orders to do so. Seems they have decided they do not trust the CIC, and are choosing to stick to the constitution and will not obey what they believe are unlawfull orders.

We Stand side by side with them no matter what or how they feel about this guy, and can feel for them how tough it must be and disappointing to them that half this nation thinks that man makes a fit commander in chief for these proud men and women, when we can’t even pinpoint where he was born, when, how, to whom by whom, who paid his college bills, who his favorite domestic terrorist friends are and on and on..

We’re as sick as you all are and have your backs and fight him back home daily MARINES. ;) You have our backs, we got yours, and as to the other half, they owe you an apology to say the least, then the rest of us after that.

Nothing stops NCOs from bad mouthing any elected official. There IS a policy FORBIDDING Officers to talk bad about a sitting President.   I served with First Battalion Fourth Marines. The number of Marines (and probably Sailors/Soldiers/Airmen) who despise him is far greater than 44 percent. That number is a joke…WAY off!

  Millions of us took that same oath to defend the Law of the Land, but Obama is not our CIC. The US Marines have a duty to arrest Obama for High Treason and they fly the President in their helicopter. The Marines should be able to find an Army Office with the last name of Lee, to lead a detachment of Marines to arrest Obama and his cabinet of traitors. The last time this was done was done by Robert E. Lee and a squad of Marines who arrested John Brown at Harper’s Ferry, Virginia for treason.
