South Park Spoofs GOP Presidential Debates With Mysterious ‘Faith Hilling’ & ‘Evolution’ Episode

South Park Spoofs Presidential Debates With Faith Hilling & Evolution Episode

"Newt Gingrich" on South Park

South Park is known for pushing the envelope when it comes to the show’s take on pop culture, faith and politics.

That’s why this week’s upcoming episode, which is shrouded in mystery, is causing a mixture of anticipation and head-scratching. In an official press release describing episode 1603, we’re told that the cartoon will spoof the GOP debates, while taking on the issue of evolution and “Faith Hilling.”

The release reads:

The boys are consumed with a life-threatening phenomenon in an all-new episode of “South Park” titled, “Faith Hilling,” premiering Wednesday, March 28 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central.

Mankind’s evolution begins to accelerate at a rapid and disturbing pace. Concurrently, another species on the planet is exhibiting the same drastic development. Eventually the two species will battle to the death and “Faith Hilling” may be humanity’s only hope.

South Park Spoofs Presidential Debates With Faith Hilling & Evolution Episode

Clearly, there are some questions to consider. To begin, why are the characters undergoing a bizarrely fast evolutionary rate? Also, which other “species” is experiencing “drastic development?” And above all else, what in the world is “Faith Hilling?” As for the last question, one can’t help but wonder if country singer Faith Hill or religion (i.e. faith healing) will be at play. The issue of evolution, of course, will likely be a portion of the show’s antic’s as well.

While some of these questions are currently unanswered, viewers can be certain that they’ll be in store for some humor aimed at Republican presidential candidates. A preview of the episode shows cartoon versions of Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum and Ron Paul debating on a variety of issues. And it seems the audio actually comes from real-life statements the candidates have made.

I’m not into huge displays of vulgar, so I do not watch SP, but I have from time to time, and they are funny. They also are fair with the exception of the Mohammed episode, seriously they should have stood up for what they believed.

SP is pretty witty stuff. Loved last weeks episode:

Jewelry with Dean: Hello, who am i speaking with?
    Vivian: My name is Vivian.
Jewelry with Dean: Vivian, What’s your last name?
    Vivian: I can’t remember.
Jewelry with Dean: Well, can you remember your credit card #?
    Vivian: 3715…….

Sums up the Home Shopping Network.

Personally, I like South Park. The humor is crude to be sure, but they skewer everyone. They went after Bush/Cheney in an episode making fun of 9/11 Truthers, and right after the last election they went after Obama and his supporters. They’ve gone after Christians, Jews, Muslims… heck even made fun of Buddhists. They’ve similarly gone after personalities on the Right and the Left.

Having watched quite a bit of the show I don’t think they have political leanings that they put out there.

They’re out to offend everyone they possibly can, skewer anyone who says something stupid and point out hypocrisy whenever they find it… and rake in the cash as long as they can.

“Least likely to fight back”? They took on the group most prone to legal action in the world, the scientologists. And ridiculed them, just as they did mormons, christians, jews and muslims (I fail to see how representing Muhammad as a bear is “caving in”). They also routinely skewer liberal figureheads, from Barbra Streisand to Michael Moore. Trey Parker and Matt Stone are equal opportunity haters. They’re also very funny.

I watch very little of this show. I did catch one episode one time though, that had me laughing. Everyone was being “green” and bought a Prius’.. everyone became so smug, that the “smug cloud” over South Park and the one over San Francisco threatened to end life as we know it. The smug parents in San Francisco were so busy sniffing their own gaseous emissions, that they failed to realize that their kids were doing drugs to deal with the fact that their parents were too busy sniffing their own gaseous emissions to pay any attention to them.
I’m not a fan of gaseous emission humor to be honest, but the episode gave me a chuckle. They’re a bit crass for my tastes for the most part, but I’ve seen them jab at a few different factions over the years. Just different snippets that I catch now and then, though, so I’m no expert on the show or their overall political leanings.

IMO they have done more for the right due to the natural ridiculousness of the left.
Relax. I think they are more right than you think. If not then all is fair at this point.

If you saw their episode on OWS, you would have laughed out loud. They give equal treatment and by doing so, expose the hypocracy on both sides. They are not left leaning, they are libertarians.

Neocons and Progressives, both made from the same mold, have done more to destroy this country than any cartoon.

South Park is one of the best political shows on tv. Yes some of their shows are over top but for the most part they are fair in attacking all sides especially the government with its stupid polices like hitting the TSA a week or so ago.

South Park actually had a drawing of Muhammad in a previous episode years ago that went unnoticed. In fact, most people didn’t even know it until later when they said they were going to have Mohammad in another episode; in the episode he wore a bear suit.

If you think these guys are democrat shills, please watch Team America. Also read what the libs in Hollywood thought about it. I actually think they get things right more often than either Republican or Democrat. They walk a very cool middle.

Last week’s episode that centered around wealth distribution was also very well done. Looking forward to tomorrows show!

SP skewers right and left alike, but there is a detectable left bias. The proof is that Cartman with his religious hypocrisy, and dislike of Obama and liberals generally is easily the funniest of the 4 principals, as well as the most hateable. For my money, the best episodes are the ones featuring the Cartman-Butters duo, and the ones like “Dog Whisperer” and “1%” that really lay bare Cartman’s twisted soul.

Cartman already ran a scam as a Tent preacher, he tried to lead an extermination of the Jews in a spoof of Passion of the Christ, he lead a Ginger uprising, all I can say is “Bad Kitty, those are my Cheesy Poofs”. I love South Park, and everyone, lighten up, Matt and Trey have insulted everyone, if they haven’t insulted you yet, you just aren’t important enough. “That’s my Pot Pie KITTY.”

what a memory that SP crud evoked.. many years ago one of the older kids had South Park on, and was told to turn that sicko democrat show off. they disobeyed. and we walked back into the room and put a 12 lb sledgehammer thru the screen. this family enjoyed 2 years of NO tv at all after that. they also all learned how to cut split and stack firewood, hunt and fish and trap, and grow vegetables, and cook on a 1920s wood cookstove, and how to build a cabin. And everyone is PRO-AMERICAN Conservative now.

@Tickle the creators of South Park (Parker and Stone) did NOT chicken out, Comedy Central did. The creators have been outspoken against censorship and have not chickened out of parodying any group or religion. On two separate occasions Comedy Central censored Mohammad, and one occasion (an older episode) they actually do show him.

Generally speaking, all they do is attack Christians. but i wasn’t going that specific to whom is doing it. i get your point tho and i stand corrected if the creators of show wanted to air it, good for them, least they have guts to poke fun at everyone. love the show still tho.
