UNC Chapel Hill Tells Radio Station to Stop Mentioning Its Sports Program During Limbaugh’s Show

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has asked a local radio station known as “Rush Radio” to stop mentioning both the school and its Tar Heels sports program during the broadcast of Rush Limbaugh’s talk show, the North Carolina News and Observer reported.
The university has similarly asked for no references to Limbaugh’s show during broadcasts of its football and basketball games on the station, WRDU 106.1.
The school’s actions, announced last week, are a direct response to Limbaugh calling Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke a “slut” and a “prostitute” after she testified in favor of insurance coverage of contraceptives. Local residents petitioned the school to sever ties with the station over the controversy, according to WCHL 1360.
In a statement, UNC said it was “unfortunately and awkwardly connected” to Limbaugh by having its games broadcast on the same station that airs his show.
“Limbaugh recently made rude, inappropriate and offensive statements,” the statement said. “That connection spurred many people to email us and prompted a petition campaign, both with the goal of urging us to drop our broadcasts from the station.”
It continued, “We have asked β and the local station has agreed β to end the practice of referencing the Tar Heel Sports Network or the Universityβs name while promoting the Limbaugh program and vice versa.”
UNC Chancellor Holden Thorp told the student radio news magazine Carolina Connection that “a lot of our faculty and some other folks outside of the University were upset to find out that we were connected with βRush Radio.’”
“We do understand why people were upset,” Thorp said. “I think that was a good compromise.”

I do not understand how parents can send their children off to be indoctrinated by these Marxists professors as a result of failing to research the “culture” of these schools. Many of the Jesuit colleges (ex: Georgetown) are now funded by the Saudis in return for them offering Islamic courses and universities we once considered the creme de la creme (such as Harvard, Brown, Stanford, U of P) are nothing but brainwashing bastions staffed by die-hard Marxists.

He was saying that if it costs $ 3000.00 a year for birth control then she’s a slut which she would be since a months supply of birth control is about 40 to 50 bucks. If she isn’t using birth control then condoms at.75 cents each would equal 4000 times she had sex in a year or about 2.8 times a day. That was what he was saying and it was done in a humorous way. The libs jumped on it to try and move their agenda. I would think a Marine would understand honor and honesty. Unless you’re suffering from PDSD you’re a disgrace to the uniform.

The local businesses are starting to look run down like they aren’t being well run. Even the local Whole Foods grocery store looks like everything in it is stale. Not too many shoppers. People in the surrounding area avoid Chapel Hill whenever possible. It’s gone to Liberal- hippie cesspool hell in a hand basket.

So – not surpirsed UNC is doing this. There is a real difference between N Carolina and S. Carolina – ‘course – guess that is why they split the original State into two different parts. Think Northern and Southern California should have done the same thing – thought so growing up there in the 60′s-70′s too!

have taken no action to remove the Tar Heel Sports Radio Network from the local
station that broadcasts UNC basketball and football games.
Carolina Athletics contracts with Tar Heel Sports Properties, a division of
Learfield Sports. Learfield owns and operates the Tar Heel Sports Radio Network
as an independent contractor. The network includes over 50 affiliates and brings
the live broadcasts of our games to people in almost all of North Carolina.
That’s our goal … for Carolina fans to hear our games.
We do not affiliate with or endorse any radio personality or politician, so we
asked the local station to end the practice of referencing the Tar Heel Sports
Network or the University’s name while promoting the Rush Limbaugh program and
vice versa. They agreed. That is simply to avoid the appearance of a university
endorsement of a radio personality.
Beyond that, the University does not plan to take any additional action at this
time.
