Carson Daly: Gays Too Cowardly to Have Stopped Jet Blue Pilot

Following the disturbing story of airline pilot Clayton Osbon, whose mid-flight rant and erratic behavior got his plane grounded and Osbon himself hospitalized, all sorts of humor has been had at the pilot’s expense. Carson Daly attempted to wade into those waters on his radio show today. The result was a rather bizarre joke hinging on the idea that if Osbon’s flight had been filled with gay people instead of security conference attendees, Osbon wouldn’t have been stopped.

“Most of the people were on their way to some sort of security conference in Las Vegas … it was like a bunch of dudes and well trained dudes … thank god,” Daly said. “With my luck, it would be like … ‘this is the flight going to [the gay pride parade] in San Francisco … I mean, that would be my colleagues.”

Daly then proceeded to ape the vocal mannerisms of effeminate gay men while his co-host laughed. The short clip of his show can be watched below. Let us know in the comments if you get the joke:

      Many of the ‘best’ human beings that I’ve encountered are from the LGBT Community.

      I’d take the gays over hetros any day of the week.

      Wow your definition of best is certainly different from mine. I’ve seen it from both sides, working for child protective services of Florida, and Mississippi youth court systems, I’ve seen the devastation they cause children they try to recruit to the cause. And from managing a “gentleman’s” club that had a straight front door, and a “gay/bi” back door, I’ve seen what miserable human beings they are behind closed doors.

      Carson Daly’s comments were in really poor taste and inappropriate, but yours is outright closed-minded and bigoted. Good for you!

      Walkabout, nah, no response. For one thing the post doesn’t make sense and I’m not sure what she’s saying. But mainly, when someone takes an entire group of people, and attributes to every member that entire group some set of bad characteristics they’ve witnessed in a few, that’s what is known as bigotry. That’s the cause of a lot of problems in the world.

      I suppose if you worked in child protective services with mostly white clients, you could say exactly the same things about whites.

      Perhaps you could implore the LGBLT community to stop having parades in public maybe? Much of what we see as humor we have observed first hand, not rosey palm per say. They have straight hetero jokes, what is good for the goose and all. Lighten up or just stroke out already.

      I don’t think so. Gays come in all types. Some are exceeding fit either to be desirable or to compensate for past weakness. It would just be too easy for the gay community to provide several examples to disprove Carson’ statement.

      If Carson said “Gays on average are weaker”, that is a complicated question. Many get bullied so I think they are weaker. But then later in life they compensate by working out more or just getting more psychically tough.

      I think the gay lifestyle is a poor lifestyle, but Carson does not have the stats to back up his statement.
