NBC has revealed that it is launching an internal investigation into the “editing process” surrounding the conversation between George Zimmerman and a police dispatcher (shortly before Trayvon Martin was shot), where Zimmerman appears to volunteer racial information.
Exposed by Fox News and Newsbusters, NBC played the conversation on the “Today Show” as: “This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black.”
The unabridged version is:
Zimmerman: This guy looks like he’s up to no good. Or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about.
Dispatcher: OK, and this guy — is he black, white or Hispanic?
Zimmerman: He looks black.
Erik Wemple of the Washington Post noted:
The difference between what ‘Today’ put on its air and the actual tape? Complete: In the ‘Today’ version, Zimmerman volunteered that this person ‘looks black,’ a sequence of events that would more readily paint Zimmerman as a racial profiler. In reality’s version, Zimmerman simply answered a question about the race of the person whom he was reporting to the police. Nothing prejudicial at all in responding to such an inquiry.
[...]
And it’s a falsehood with repercussions. Much of the public discussion over the past week has settled on how conflicting facts and interpretations call into question whether Zimmerman acted justifiably or criminally. That’s a process that’ll continue. But one set of facts in the is ironclad, and that’s the back-and-forth between Zimmerman and the dispatcher. To portray that exchange in a way that wrongs Zimmerman is high editorial malpractice well worthy of the investigation that NBC is now mounting.

Apr. 3, 2012 at 10:33amWhy should this surprise anyone coming from a company that doctored Nuclear Maintenance Records at the Fukushima site … years before the tidal wave…. GE had to go apologize to the Japanese NRC and they fired the head of the division over the incident. Don’t forget General Dothan, the Diamond scandal, Joseph Jett (Kidder Peabody) and so many other ethical indiscretions…. And interestingly enough… a company that avoids unions like the plague… did someone say Immelt was on Obama’s Jobs council? This whole regime is so corrupt and in permeates media and every aspect of our lives… just like they want to control everything you do….

Apr. 3, 2012 at 2:32amExploiting and Fearing Trayvon Martin
Commenting on the February killing of Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida, Stephanie Cutter, Obama’s Deputy Campaign Manager, said on MSNBC last week that President Barack Hussein Obama’s ”Republican opponents have jumped all over him because they do want to play politics with this issue.”
In apparent reference to Obama’s inappropriate intrusion in a local matter and making it personal by saying, “If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon,” Ms. Cutter went on to add that, “The President spoke from his heart on this, it was trying to empathize with some parents who had just lost a child. By any measure, this was a tragedy and we need to let the investigation take its course.” (http://bit.ly/GWEZid)
Ms. Cutter is in serious need of a reality check.
As with the 2009 incident between Cambridge cop, Sgt. Joe Crowley, and Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr., when Ms. Cutter’s boss rushed to judgement and alleged Crowley acted “stupidly” without knowing any details about the confrontation, the president has again acted stupidly by intruding himself in the investigation.
Coincidentally, that intrusion occurred just eight months before a national election as Obama is trying to shore up his black and minority bases.
It is the president, his rabid supporters such as Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan, and the New Black Panther Party, and his mainstream media who have shamelessly exploited the

Apr. 2, 2012 at 7:06pmThis is the kind of bs that the FCC really should be going after. There is NO accountability or professionalism in “news” anymore. It is grossly pathetic that this “news” organization chose to make a bad situation worse by making this appear to be an example of racial profiling.

Apr. 2, 2012 at 3:38pmNBC has helped stir racial hatred by editing the 911 call. Black churches around the country are now helping to stir the pot. One black woman at a North Carolina church complained that “monsters” were being turned loose on them (blacks). I don’t know if she was referring to white people or Hispanics. I don’t know the truth of what happened and neither do these black churches, but they are acting like a parent who thinks that their kid can do no wrong. Talk about prejudice! They have already set themselves up as judge and jury and found Zimmerman guilty.

Apr. 2, 2012 at 3:15pmMy question is this: Is Mr. Bozell going to file a complaint against NBC for this incident with the FCC? Deliberate Lying, Incitement to Riot, these would seem to be a direct violation of their license.

Dispatcher: OK, and this guy — is he black, white or Hispanic?
What difference does it make, is this more of our “social justice” coming from the police. Wonder what the difference would have been in the instructions from the dispatcher if he had been white???

Apr. 2, 2012 at 11:04amNBC using creative editting , re-arranging peoples words to fit their agenda? I’M SHOCKED ! (<—-sarcasm) Someone there needs to be held accountable, fined and/or jailed. I whole-heartly believe in the 1st Amendment, but when" any" media person/organization purposely and blatantly manufactures lies to further their agenda or incite violence, that crosses a line that makes it no longer a 1st Amendment issue , but should considered a criminal act!

We can’t allow the Obamas in this counrty dictate what we can or can not do. We who believe and respect our Constitution must protect it at all cost if we are to remain a nation of freedom.

Apr. 2, 2012 at 8:27am2 weeks ago in Tallahassee, Florida a young woman who was 26 years old was pursued and murdered by a young black man that lived down the street. Her name was Ashleigh Jacobs. She was shot 3 times in the head and locked in her vehicle. She was a single mother of a 1 year old child. The struggle was caught on surveillance tape in front of a trash transfer station. There were drugs involved though motive is still unknown.
This never got national media coverage and nobody even really blinked an eye. I didn’t hear any accusations of racism and most were quick to blame her because she met him at a party and wasn’t the outstanding christian her family portrayed her.
The Trayvon situation is very horrible and tragic. But so is the murder of 26 yr. old Ashleigh Jacobs. This is very very biased.

Apr. 2, 2012 at 8:08amExactly, if Zimmerman was a racist vigilante why did he call 911? If he had been intending on killing Trayvon Martin then why did he call for help? Agreed these are questions to be asked…he absolutely should have locked himself in the car and waited for the police to arrive and maybe the young man would have vanished. Hindsight is 20/20…
