Jet Dry? Stunning Vid as Female Beach-Goer Thrown Into a Concrete Wall by Jet Engine
Consider it a jet dry.
A video posted online that is going viral (it’s unclear when the video was actually taken) shows a female beach-goer in the tropical Caribbean paradise of Saint Marten, where the airport borders the popular Moha beach, getting blown away by a jet engine as she tries to brave the wind and hang on to a nearby fence. But she isn’t just blown away — instead, she’s thrown into a nearby concrete, and bystanders are left stunned and running to her aid.
Here’s the original video showing how it all happened:
It’s unclear what ever became of the woman, but the video does include a picture showing her being attended to with what appears to be a police officer present.
As for the beach, the Daily Mail has compiled more videos of onlookers getting blown around by the jets on the island. And ITN News shows just how close the planes come to the beach while landing:

Posted on April 9, 2012 at 2:46pmThat was HILARIOUS!
You’d think there would be at least some kind of blast protection in place to prevent people from excercising their stupidity though (municipal liability, yadda yadda yadda…).

Posted on April 9, 2012 at 2:56pmThey have signs there, but what young folk are going to heed the warnings for a thrill? I’ll admit, back when I was an 18-20 y/o, I would’ve been dumb enough to try it.

Posted on April 9, 2012 at 4:02pmI’ve seen a good bit of home videos of people “riding the fence” at Saint Marten. But this is the first video I’ve seen where the tail of a large aircraft (before takeoff) is plainly in frame with a close up of people on the fence. Working first hand with Jet engines (as my Username implies), I would say that this couple were near or within 100 feet of the rear of the engine itself. There the exhaust is traveling well over 200mph with temps near 140 deg F. Notice how many people are on the fence. Usually there are more riding the fence. In this video only 4. I think these 4 tourists failed to heed the warnings of locals to not ride when the aircraft is that close.

Posted on April 9, 2012 at 4:03pmWhat is wrong with all you people saying how “STUPID” she is? I’ll be honest. I totally would have tried it. She just wasn’t strong enough to hold on. Yeah it was probably not the smartest move, but you people are so cynical and judgmental it’s ridiculous. It’s embarrassing to true conservatives. We shouldn’t attack others for their mistakes. We should inform and help remedy them….gosh.

Posted on April 9, 2012 at 6:03pmThat was stupid funny…shes got the gall now to have a police officer take a report of how stupid she was. She put herself in harms way and no doubt will want to sue the airlines and airport as to why there is not jetblast deflector at the end of that runway.

“It’s embarrassing to true conservatives.”
Not to this true conservative. The young lady is either dumb as a box of rocks, stoned, drunk, or all three flying in close formation. Though you say you might try such a moronic stunt, I suspect you would have to be there to say for sure. I hope, and pray, you would be bright enough to resist. I’ll wager that only a small minority of the population would participate in such a debacle, but free will can really be a b*tch when it’s not metered by common sense.
Still, there will always be those that voluntarily hang on the fence directly behind a high bypass turbofan coming up to TO thrust. These are the same folks that drive the average life span down for the general population. There truly is no way to save them in a free society. The best that can be done is to hold their self-destructive behavior up to the rest of the world as an example of what not to do.
I hope she was not killed, but I fear the long term prognosis is not good for anyone who would do such a thing. If she keeps it up, she may be a Darwin Award finalist in the not too distant future.

Darwin reaps his dues at some level in this case. That was a stunning horizontal faceplant into concrete, I daresay.

Posted on April 9, 2012 at 2:37pmI watched jets take off from that airport from the water (far enough away to avoid problems). It is a short runway at the base of the mountains. These jets have to build up a huge head of steam to take off! If there is enough thrust to fling that jet into the air, imagine what that thrust can do to …. well nevermind, you don’t have to imagine. She just gave us a demo.

Posted on April 9, 2012 at 2:26pmWhy would anyone with half a brain want to stand behind a jet engine just revving up before releasing the brakes. With all the sand and debris around that can be blown at you plus how can one think they can hang on to a fence with their finger tips in such a situation??
Wrong end of the gene pool I guess. But…she is just another victim of society!
Now the airport will be required to spend a fortune to keep such a thing from happening again or issue regulations against standing behind an airplane.
When will we learn that we can’t pass a law against “stupid”?
