‘We Must Repeal the Stand Your Ground Law’: Jesse Jackson Tips His Hand After Zimmerman Arrest

George Zimmerman hasn’t even been in jail for a single day and hasn’t been found guilty of anything yet (in fact, his trial hasn’t even started), yet Jesse Jackson is already trying to use Zimmerman’s shooting of Florida teen Trayvon Martin to push a fondly cherished wish of left-of-center Floridians. That is, he’s trying to use the case as a pretext to repeal the “Stand Your Ground” law, which some observers have blamed for Martin’s death at Zimmerman’s hands.

George Zimmerman was behind bars Wednesday night, forty-five days and countless rallies after he went free after shooting unarmed high school junior Trayvon Martin in a Sanford, Florida, gated community. Zimmerman now faces the possibility of life in prison, but the Reverend Jesse Jackson, who has led some of those rallies, says that the mobilizing shouldn’t end.

“When Rosa Parks was arrested [for refusing to go to the back of the bus], if we had focused on the bus driver and not on the states’ rights law, we would have missed the point…. We must not just settle for Zimmerman, we must repeal the Stand Your Ground law.”

As luck would have it, Reverend Jackson and I were both at Ohio University as the news from Florida came in. Here’s what he had to say.

The internal logic of Jackson’s statement, comparing the case of the Montgomery Bus Boycott to the case of Trayvon Martin, might not be fully consistent with either. The bus boycott was enacted in order to protest a specifically racist policy, whereas the Stand Your Ground law applies with equal force to whites and blacks, and has no alleged racial motivation behind it. Moreover, Rosa Parks did not die as a result of the bus policy, nor were the bus company employees ever charged with a crime. Either way, it’s not clear that the shooting of Trayvon Martin is indicative in any way of a wider trend of racially motivated violence. In fact, it appears to be an isolated incident, which would make it just the opposite.

Repealing the Stand Your Ground law will not prevent crime. Oh wait, Jesse Jackson really doesn’t care about that. It will open up more opportunity for criminals and that will lead him back to the limelight and the money and the perks. Ahh it’s good to be Jesse!

Most of those Muslims came straight out of prison. They should all go back in. Those black muslims who were recruited in prison make up the majority of those running around making out like they believe in something so they can break the law, then cry fowl. They have no probably cause to even arrest Zimmerman. I hope he sues them. They are the ones who instituted that law. They will probably have him to sign a waiver of his right to sue them, but I would not sign it. But it would be duress if he had to sign it to maintain his freedom.

Duh. From the moment this Trial by Media hit the scene, it was pretty obvious WHY. It was the Perfect Campaign Media Vehicle for the Democrats : Florida a key swing state, Race Card, Stand Your Ground Law, and GUN CONTROL all rolled into one delicious Media Package ! Only thing I wonder about is whether the Democrats knew that a fellow with the name of Zimmerman and lived in a “gated community ,” was actually half Hispanic . Hmmmmm. Doesn’t quite fit in with the usual Democrat propaganda script !

Jesse Jackson is a Judas. That Special Prosecutor bringing this to trial in Florida is a Pontius Pilate. They are handing this man over to the hedonist leftist because of pressure. People need to stand their ground. George Zimmerman has a Hebrew name. He has Jewish Ancestors. These sorry people are trying to crucify an innocent man. These people are as bad as those who crucified Christ because of their motivation. If it was because they really believed it was murder, that would be different. This is a contest of will, brought about by a bunch of Hedonist Blacks who are crazy enough to even say Jesus Christ was a Muslim. That is a blatant and impossible lie from hell. That Zimmerman was not a murderer, he had a right to defend his life. They also called for the release of a robber, such as what Trevon Martin has been accused of being a thief, when Jesus Christ was cruicified. They are wanting to appease the Nagras and have this man tried for 2nd degree murder. They have no right to even make a charge. His Constitutional rights are being violated, as well, those muslims who picked up on his name are doing this because of his coming from a line of the Jews.   You have a point. Why change the law if the law has nothing to do with this case. They know well that that is one of the reasons George Zimmerman should not be tried. The main one is that that thug, Trevon Martin would have got his gun and used it on him if he had not been shot.

Then he should appeal to the Supreme Court to set aside law enacted by a strong democratic majority that was duly processed and signed by the elected representatives of the people in the various states that have Stand Your Ground.

The easy question is “why do we need to repeal a stand your ground law Mr. Jackson? If whites are out randomly attacking blacks it would stand to reason that the victim should be able to protect themselves. Why should they be left defenseless with only a bag of Skittles to protect themselves?”

Let me enlighten Jackson’s black arse: When you’re people are threatening me, attacking me, the LAST thing on my mind is what dumb arse law I’m going to violate or what procedure I must follow according to some DUMB ARSE LAW. I will DRILL your black arse if my life or some other innocent person’s life is in danger. So go ahead and repeal away, it won’t save your black arse from me.
