Arlen Specter Begs Utah Residents to Vote for Orrin Hatch… by Calling GOP Voters ‘Cannibals’
It seems like just yesterday former Sen. Arlen Specter was detailing his bathtub rendezvous with the late Ted Kennedy. And now he’s back with some other colorful commentary, calling GOP voters who reject establishment candidates “cannibals.”
Politico explains:
Arlen Specter, the former Pennsylvania moderate most recently used as a cudgel against Rick Santorum in the GOP presidential primary, made the case for Sen. Orrin Hatch in his primary challenge from Dan Liljenquist yesterday on MSNBC’s “Melissa Harris-Perry” show.
He suggests Dick Lugar was “cannibalized” and adds, “The cannibals are devouring senators.”
And after host Melissa Harris-Perry asked if it happens on both sides, and brushed off Specter’s answer that he has seen some of it on the left, the two concluded that it’s really Republicans who are controlling the party with extremists.
Even Politico concludes: “In this climate, getting identified as someone facing the wrath of ‘cannibals’ may not be a boon to an incumbent.”
The title MSNBC gave the video might say it all: “Moderate lawmakers removed by party extremes.”
See for yourself:
But here’s where Specter is off: he believes that Senators such as Luger are being thrown out because they’re not voting the “party line” enough. But many “Tea Party” conservatives feel it’s the opposite: it’s that establishment Republicans are just that “establishment Republicans” and they’re toeing the party line a little too closely instead of voting with conservative conviction.

Posted on May 14, 2012 at 1:04pmAnd remember, this guy was a left-sided Republican his entire career, who lost his primary, like Hatch has now done. He then “switch-hit” as a Democrat to retain what was for him the most important thing of all, PERSONAL POWER. All guys like him in D.C. who feel that way need to be shown the door immediately! You bastards weren’t sent to Washington D.C. as kings to rule over U.S; you were sent there TO SERVE THE PEOPLE!

Their salaries and the salaries of all public sector workers need to reflex that. Right down the average government worker makes twice what a private sector work with the same position makes.

Posted on May 14, 2012 at 6:28pmSpector, Lugar and Hatch can form their own pity party and talk about being rejected by the very people they wanted to rule. They all need a lessonin representing their constiuents and not ruing to the detriment of those same constituants.
They don’t seem to realize that they were elected to serve. They make careers out of what was meant to be a part time job and spend so much timein DC that they begin to think they are royalty and know best for their subjects.

Arlen represents everything we hate about Washington. Those here I’m sure remember when ol’Arlen jumped ship to the place he belonged to in the first place in order to extend his stay in Washington, and that would be the Democrat-Socialist-Communist Party. Of course it didn’t work.
Maybe he and the ‘establishment’ don’t get it about the Tea Party yet, but in due time they will. We will replace ALL Republicans with a Constitution-oriented party.
If there is a Republican party at all it would be a surprise to me.

Posted on May 14, 2012 at 12:58pmThis is why we need term limits. These people get in and think its “THEIR” seat. Case in point, remember when Scott Brown won and the left went nuts because that was a “Kennedy” seat and should have gone to the left. I don’t care what party, No one should be there so long that they believe it is their due. Robert Byrd was so old, he hadn’t been in session for over two years and they wheeled him in to vote on Obamacare.

Posted on May 14, 2012 at 1:25pmArlen was one of the most condescending basturds of all. I have a genuine hate for this man.
Hatch was too establishment, but there was some wiggle room in his agenda. After some coaxing, he did finally side with motorcyclists on a couple issues. That is not a small thing given the one-sided lobbying by the Earth radicals in Washington.
He needs to go, but he wasn’t all bad.

Posted on May 14, 2012 at 12:50pmWatching the news, I have noticed many have declared the Tea Party dead, because after the wonderful 2010 election, their candidates got co-opted and nothing got better. Others have said that the Tea Party has merely stopped protesting and moved on to the business of studying and vetting candidates, campaigning and voting. I personally believe the second theory.
